The duo behind hit feature Lee Daniels’ The Butler – writer Danny Strong and director Lee Daniels — are reuniting, this time in television. Strong and Daniels have been brought back together by Brian Grazer for a hip hop drama project that sparked heated bidding among the four major broadcast networks before landing at Fox with a put pilot commitment. Written by Strong and to be directed by Daniels, the untitled project is described as a unique family drama set in the world of a hip hop empire. 20th Century Fox TV and studio-based Imagine TV are producing, with Strong, Daniels, Grazer and Francie Calfo executive producing.

Um, is there an error in the title. Cause Harry Connick Jr. and Hip Hop are in no way related.
ReplyDeleteFixed.
ReplyDeleteI love Lee Daniels very thrilled he is working on something for TV. But is material is usually gritty and "in your face" not sure of the word im looking for but just think Precious, Monsters Ball, The Paperboy, etc they all have a certain tone to them. Which i would be thrilled if that came to tv, but idk how others would feel about. either way im intrigued.
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of some show called "Platinum" that I only remember promos of. I think it might have been on UPN.
ReplyDeleteWas such a fun of Danny Strong as the underdog loser Jonathan on Buffy it's so awesome to be seeing him do so well now
ReplyDeleteThanks. For some reason the fact that it was a typo is making me giggle.
