Is that Wade punching Joel? Absolutely juvenile, are we watching High School for adults? Who's writing this stuff? There better be an amazingly good reason for it that moves both the story and characters forward, otherwise - it's STUPID!!
Are you a woman? Meh, it doesn't matter. Men are juvenile. It's a simple fact. If we don't like someone, we make it clear, if it gets beyond just general dislike we're not too afraid to punch it out and finish things.
Men who don't do that are considered "more evolved" but I just think they haven't been in a situation where words don't mean a thing and only a punch will actually do anything. There was this one guy in high school who I was in constant conflict with. We just didn't like each other and kept pushing all the wrong buttons. Our conflict continued for years because it was only a little physical and a lot of talking. You know how we finished it? We fought each other. Is it stupid and juvenile? Definitely yes. But it works a hell of a lot better than being "more evolved" and keeping it all in for a therapist later.
He and I have been cracking good-natured jokes about that fight for years. Seeing as how this is Heart of Dixie, I'm positive Wade punching Joel has some kind of amusing context to it, but I do believe your reaction to it was a little much.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
