NEW ADRENALINE-FUELED DRAMA
“ALMOST HUMAN” TO DEBUT WITH SPECIAL TWO-NIGHT SERIES PREMIERE
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 17, AND MONDAY, NOVEMBER 18, ON FOX
Sunday Night Debut of Futuristic Series to Follow NFL ON FOX Double-Header
BONES Moves to Fridays and Season Four of RAISING HOPE Premieres November 15
New buddy-cop thrill-ride ALMOST HUMAN will have a special two-night series premiere on Sunday, Nov. 17 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT), following an NFL ON FOX double-header, and Monday, Nov. 18 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
BONES will continue Mondays (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) with all-new episodes on Nov. 4 and Nov. 11, followed by all-new episodes of SLEEPY HOLLOW (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). BONES moves to Fridays and makes its time period premiere on Nov. 15 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT). That same night, RAISING HOPE will have its fourth season premiere with one hour of all-new back-to-back episodes (9:00-9:30 PM and 9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT).
From Emmy Award-winning executive producer J.J. Abrams (“Fringe,” “Lost,” “Revolution,” “Person of Interest,” the “Star Trek” and “Mission: Impossible” franchises) and creator/executive producer J.H. Wyman (“Fringe,” “The Mexican”), comes ALMOST HUMAN. Starring Karl Urban (the “Star Trek” and “The Lord of the Rings” franchises) and Golden Globe Award nominee Michael Ealy (“Sleeper Cell,” “Common Law”), the new series is set in 2048, when police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids. ALMOST HUMAN will follow the week-to-week missions of JOHN KENNEX (Urban), a detective and sole survivor of a devastating police ambush, and his robot partner, DORIAN (Ealy), as this buddy-cop duo solve cases and fight to keep the lid on dangerously evolved criminals in this futuristic landscape.

I think 24 also often had season premieres like this. They actually would do two hours on Sunday and two hours on Monday before going to one hour on Monday the next week. But they also had 24 episodes for a midseason show.
ReplyDeleteMakes sense to me. Post-football gives it more sampling and it is still paired with Sleepy Hollow albeit for only a short time. I still wish FOX's schedule allowed for more episodes of Sleepy Hollow this season.
ReplyDeleteGod now I have to wait more than 2 weeks
ReplyDeleteShould I be worried about bones? Ratings have dropped but they've still been pretty solid so far.
ReplyDeleteUgh. Have had to wait forever for this show it feels like and just when it was almost here...delayed two more weeks. #nothappy
ReplyDeleteKinda bummed because FOX has made "MONDAY NOVEMBER FOURTH!" so clear in every single promo I've seen, I had a harder time remembering Sleepy Hollow's premiere date over the summer, and that was the show I was most excited about! So...I really, really hope this doesn't piss off the millions who are most likely going to tune in Nov 4th only to see Bones, FOX needs to ramp up their advertising twice as much now to correct this IMO.
ReplyDeleteWhile I like that the show will get a sports bump, Terminator got one too and I feel like it may not have been viewed as such a failure early on had it premiered lower and had better retention from the pilot, as opposed to getting like 17 million viewers and losing 9 million for episode 2.
Thank god AH is airing at 8. I was getting paranoid that it'd interfere with Walking Dead at 9 :(
ReplyDeleteI just want to see Raising Hope :(
ReplyDeleteI like the idea in itself but they should have thought this through and promoted as such from the beginning, it could easily backfire now. I hope not because I really want to see the show doing well. But they won't have Sleepy Hollow and Almost Human paired up for many episodes apparently. And so Bones and Raising Hope really are going to Fridays. We'll see how that goes, IMO Bones could become of the highest rated players on Friday, I don't think it will drop that much, its audience is so steady.
ReplyDeleteBoth David and Emily are signed through S10. They have both confirmed that fact numerous times in interviews/tweets. That won't be an issue :)
ReplyDeleteReally? I didn't know such thing. Do you have a link? I am not doubting you or anything, it's just that often there are rumors like this going around the internet but it turns out no one has seen the source! I would be happy if that was indeed true ;)
ReplyDeleteI haven't got the link to Emily's interview but David tweeted he had a deal when the rumours came about him leaving at the end of season 9:

I'm a little PO-ed too! Especially since they are airing the next episode the following day, since most won't be expecting that!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I find it strange that they waited so long to pair Almost Human and Sleepy Hollow. I don't get it when it will be pairing with The Following in 2014. The Following already has a fan base. It would have made more sense to pair it with either Sleepy Hollow or The Following instead of bridging the gap between the two. Thursdays at 9 makes sense as well but I don't see them putting Glee on Fridays. Not sure all the schedule rearranging is going to bring positive results to be honest.
ReplyDeleteRight! I checked my mail late this morning and look what Fox sent me.

Oh, well at least they did that! I have never subscribed to FOX, but perhaps I should!
ReplyDeleteI had completely forgotten that i did! :P At least they are spreading the news.
ReplyDeleteI think their goal is to have year-round programming on Mondays with dramas. I think it's a good idea actually and I think they are willing to sacrifice the 2 additional weeks of this pairing if that means it increases Almost Human's chances of succeeding, which I think it does. I think their Mondays would be like this, assuming AH makes it:
ReplyDelete- Bones + Sleepy Hollow (5 weeks with 5 Bones+4SH)
- Baseball (1 week)
- Bones + Sleepy Hollow (2 weeks/ 2 episodes)
- Almost Human+ Sleepy Hollow (5 weeks/5 episodes) [+ additional AH episode on Sundays]
- Christmas Hiatus (3 weeks - not sure if they do 3 weeks or 2 but ok)
- Almost Human + Sleepy Hollow (2 weeks/2 episodes)
- Almost Human + The Following (15 weeks/15 episodes) [starting the 20th of January and ending 28th April]
- Gang Related+24 [from 13 to 17 weeks, not sure what they are going with]
I think that is a pretty nice plan and as someone who watches or intends to watch all this [I never watched 24 so maybe not that one], I am happy about it. No repeats, a lot of good dramas, short seasons to maximize the value of each episode and quality stuff during the entire year and no focus on "sweeps" etc
It has worked for them in the past this strategy. I don't think it's that hard to promote the fact that there is a new episode on Monday the following day (they can promote it during the first episode, that part is easy IMO). My worry is more them getting people to know that it's on Sunday and not Monday to begin with. But there is actually quite some time for that, so I am not that pessimistic.
