October 22, 2013 – Pierce Gagnon has been cast as the son in EXTANT, the new CBS drama series from Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television and CBS Television Studios that will premiere in Summer 2014. In EXTANT, Halle Berry will portray an astronaut who returns home from a year-long solo mission in space and tries to reconnect with her husband and son in their everyday life. Her experiences in space and home lead to events that ultimately will change the course of human history.

Gagnon’s credits include his break-out role in the feature film “Looper” as well as “A Friggin Christmas Miracle,” “Wish I was Here, Rio 2” and “Tomorrowland.”

EXTANT is a co-production of CBS Television Studios and Amblin Television. Steven Spielberg, Greg Walker, Mickey Fisher, who wrote the script, Brooklyn Weaver, Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank will serve as executive producers. Halle Berry will serve as a co-executive producer. The series will be distributed domestically by CBS Television Distribution and worldwide by CBS Studios International.

  1. Can't wait for this! Extant sounds interesting, and if it gets teamed with Under the Dome, it would be great television next summer!

  3. I think they might be aiming for that from what i heard from Deadline. Really good fit. I kinda like the plot and actors so far is great (both Gagnon and Berry).

  4. Yeah, I hope they will be. I mean, they are both sci-fi, both Steven Spielberg, both aimed for summer 2014. The signs and clues are lining up.

  5. Oh my god, he was phenomenal in Looper. I still think the premise is a little bizarre but the casting so far is really great.

  6. Agreed! He was terrifying in Looper. Especially the scene where he screamed and it triggered his telekinesis and then the enormous blast. I think everyone's jaw in the theater simultaneously went ":O" during the whole scene. Anyways, this is perfect casting because the kid can act.
