Sooo excited! Pretty impressive they have managed to keep this episode hush hush, I havnt seen a single clip/pro,o for the episode itself and maybe one or two stills. I dunno how the Beeb do it but they are good at it! One month to go, Hunger Games and the 50th!
We're about a month away and the trailer doesn't have ANY scenes from the actual episode? Just reminding us of all the Doctors (and some Companions) that won't be in the episode. Oh well, I'm hoping the episode itself is good, though I'm not happy with the retcon regarding John Hurt's Doctor.
I don't think so, I'm don't think that's the reason at all. SJS is one of the most popular companions of all time and had her own spin off, so important to the series
We don't normally get any trailers over a month away from broadcast. The title of this trailer is '50 Years Trailer', is was teased as a celebration of the Doctors over 50 years by the BBC before release, and is exactly what we got.
I don't see the figure you mean, one with an ammo belt, hmmmm. I know some are saying that the policeman is Hurt, I can see why as he does look a bit like him, but I'm not convinced.
I don't think Jack has the love that Sarah Jane has from the fans and unfortunately he hasn't been as big a part of the show's history imo, the Brig/Ian/Susan/Jamie are people who I think contributed more to the show in the last 50 years. I kinda understand Amy being in it as this is 11's moment so to speak, but I would have preferred one of the others I mentioned instead of her if I'm honest.
Hello, all you Dr.Who fans out there! As I am not British, I have missed out on 50 years of what - considering the running time - must be a great show! Catching up on all the episodes might be problematic. :) So who can help with some advice? How far back should I go to make sense of this show? Grateful for any sensible advice!
As Rafa says, starting with the start of a Doctor's reign is a good place, villains do pop over that have been seen before but their back history is not usually much of a problem. Matt Smith (11) is my fav of the newer Doc's so I'd obviously recommend starting with him, so that would be Series 5 onward. If you want to watch the newer episodes next month and at Xmas then it's probably also a good time to catch some of his beforehand anyway.
Thanks a lot for your advice! It sounds like season 11 would be a good starting point. I assume I can always work my way backwards from there if need be! :)
Looks like season 11 is a good place to start. I doubt I will have finished watching this before the new episodes start, but if need be I can multitask. :) Well, as long as work allows the indulgence! Thanks a lot!
That's it, start with Smith so you can keep going forward, and then go back to Tennat and Ecclestone (that's season 5-7, then 1-4). Then, if you still want to keep digging into Dr Who, I suggest you start with (in that order) The Five Doctors, Terror of the Zygons and Tomb of the Cybermen, When I see The Tenth Planet I will tell you if it is recomendable. But keep in mind that Classic Who is a bit... old. Not really what it is now. Or yes. I'm still deciding with Tom Baker (reminds me a lot of Smith in some ways)
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Oh damn, about time!
ReplyDeletewell...Sarah Jane was featured. Nice nod
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to it but I hope that Matts wig doesen't look that way all the time D:
Was so happy to see Lis in it!
ReplyDeleteBlooming epic, great advert for the 50th anniversary :D
ReplyDeleteWhile I'm happy to see Liz in this I'm kinda bothered by it at the same time, doesen't that kinda degrade the doctors other companions
ReplyDelete.... And 50th anniversary photo.

Hmm. ... There it is.
ReplyDeleteOMG YES! This trailer is awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteEpic! I'm very excited about this, especially seeing David Tennant again...
ReplyDeleteLove this poster. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletewhy would people vote this down ?
ReplyDeleteGood question..
ReplyDeleteThe guy running towards 10...Jack or Hurts doctor ?
ReplyDeleteStory wise and look wise I'd say it's Jack, the guy's carrying a gun and an ammo belt + Jack has the nasty habbit of chasing down 10

ReplyDeleteOh lol... my bad, the wig announcement was only made for the X-mas special.

ReplyDeleteI guess it's either people upset that he seems to be the only past Doctor in it, or the fans who don't like his Doctor.

ReplyDeletegranted, she had her spin-off but so did Jack Harkness, who is nowhere to be seen in the trailer
ReplyDeletethat being said: I'm glad she's in it
Picture 6 in the storyboard makes the UNIT soldier look a lot more like the Brig I think.

I couldn't stand 10. DT is fine, couldn't stand 10. I realize I'm in a minority and I couldn't give a crap.
