The thing about them doing a #charmed reboot is... it just... it feels like yesterday. It feels too close.

They really are running out of ideas in Hollywood.

Translation: They didn't pay us yet to make special guest star appearances.
ReplyDeleteThey haven't even ordered a pilot for the show, it's just in development stage.
ReplyDeleteThey're right. And I wonder what Holly, Shannen, and Brian think.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with these it is too soon and Hollywood does seem to have run out of ideas.
ReplyDeleteAlyssa's comment is polite and correct. Its really soon to be doing a reboot the show just ended in 2006, not even 10 years ago.
ReplyDeleteRose's comment is mean and bitchy, its like she's afriad they are taking something away from her when she was only one 5 of the 8 seasons
If it'd be a sequel based show i'd take it, starring their kids or something like that.
ReplyDeleteI mean...I'd pay to see a new Buffy related show
She was still a big part of the show. Rose is allowed to feel and say what she wants to, even though she wasn't on the entire time.
ReplyDeleteI'd love a spin-off with Chris, Wyatt, Melinda, and Phoebe and Paige's kids.
ReplyDeleteHaha I love Rose's responses. I couldn't have said it better myself.
ReplyDeleteHave to agree with both of them
ReplyDeleteMilano pretty much points out the problem with so many reboots: they're happening too soon. Amazing Spiderman felt unneeded (what it was) and rushed (what it was) since the last Spiderman flck (wich was not good...but better than Amazing Spiderman) only happened 4 years earlier.
McGowan pretty much voices my thoughts on most reboots in general.
But with all reboots one simple rule apllies: reboots only work if the source material wasn't that good to begin with.
they are both famous actresses and have no problem finding work. She should take it with more grace, thats mostly in reference to her second comment the lame, lame, lame, lamertons.
ReplyDeleteI'm agree with Alyssa but I still waiting for the cast.
ReplyDeleteIt`s true what Rose McWogan Says they clearly are bringing the old stuff back to see if people watch it!
ReplyDeleteYeah I would watch that. But I wouldn't watch a remake. Not this soon.
ReplyDelete...McWogan... lol
ReplyDeleteMeh, will never happen. Buffy's reboot got way more attention and media draw and it never even got a pilot.
ReplyDeleteIt really did JUST end like 7 years ago, but given that shows get spin-offs and new versions all the time now ( A New Dallas, the NCIS:LA, all the Law & Orders, The Originals (TVD spin-off), upcoming supernatural spin-off, upcoming Arrow spin-off, upcoming breaking bad spin-off, upcoming Chicago Fire Spin-off, oh and the future walking dead spin-off as well) they really are looking into established names in entertainment more than ever it seems... According to some site I read, Charmed is one of the most watched shows on Netflix, and also it's been on TNT/We/etc. in repeats since before I started High school, and years after its cancellation I still know people that watch it fairly regularly...
ReplyDeleteThink about this as well: OUAT, Grimm, Sleepy Hollow, Witches of East End, American Horror Story, The Walking Dead, SPN, teen wolf, tvd are all fairly huge hits (respective to their channels) and CBS doesn't even have a foothold in the fantasy genre, so I can see the appeal of looking at Charmed to see if they can start something there.
Having said that, who knows if this will even go anywhere... They could drop it before it gets a pilot. However, honestly, I have always quietly wondered about a Charmed that existed in a more modern era (even in the later years of the series, it was stuck with 90s special effects and had an increasingly dated appeal as it got older) -- what if this reboot was done well?
With a set plan for the series, lore that is more realistic, better production effects, care taken to show that it is a strong homage to the original show but also distance itself in defining its tone, etc. New ways to handle old tasks in defeating evil... I mentioned Sleepy Hollow--there's a show that is ridiculous, riddled with magic and freaky demonic lore and fairly fast-paced to remain light and fun, with great special effects and a good cast... And I remember scoffing at the idea of that tv show as well...
I will be keeping an eye on this to see what they do...the writers of the script didn't seem all that noteworthy if I remember correctly.
I love the show, I'd love a continuation of the story, or going back to previous generations. Not the Charmed Ones re-done. The show was perfect and can not be topped. I love, love, love Charmed!
ReplyDeleteI think I already have my Charmed hole filled in, Witches of East End has a lot of similarities and it keeps interesting enough to come back week after week.
ReplyDelete:( I found it interesting too. I like most of the characters (Wendy and Ingrid!) BUT I watched until the 2nd ep (or 3rd don't remember) I just had to stop because I couldn't stand Freya's actress (or the character... or both.. lol!) That's a real shame.
ReplyDeleteI know there is something about her, as you say don't know if its the actress or the character but I try to see past that and enjoy the storyline with the father/son thing going on wanna know where do they take it to...
