I’ve learned that ABC is considering bringing back crime drama Body Of Proof. I hear the discussions started at the beginning of the season, with the network expected to make a decision whether to move on with the revival, likely for midseason, within the next month as it gets a more clear picture of how many of its new series would stay on beyond the fall. As Body of Proof’s cast, writers and crew have all moved on following the May cancellation (showrunner Evan Katz is executive producing Fox’s 24: Live Another Day), there is a lot of work to be done to re-assemble a team and bring back star Dana Delany to be able to get the show up and running for midseason.

So why cancel it in the first place, you morons?
ReplyDelete...Aw hell no. I'll need to put a stop to this.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing bc they ordered so many new shows and now it's biting them in the ass really hard lol
ReplyDeleteLet them bring back Last Resort and Happy Endings.
Lasr Resort and Happy Endings are definitely not coming back.
ReplyDeleteIs it because many of their shows right now are dropping/not doing well?
ReplyDeleteThey obviously though that their new drama would do much better, but all 3 failed.
ReplyDeleteWe all can dream can we lol
ReplyDeleteHmmm, where were you when we needed you, dear Cancellation Bear? *ahem*Whitney*ahem*
ReplyDeleteThe cast of Happy Endings is already mostly busy...but damn, if they announced it was uncanceled I'd jizz my pants. That and Apt 23 are my favorite comedies of the last seven or eight years....even a little head of P&R.
ReplyDeleteEveryone has off days.
ReplyDeletePaul Lee is a ass
ReplyDeleteI liked this show, then you had to stab or shoot the main dude in season 1 forgot which stab or shoot, but we got a cliff hanger and a cancellation.... pissed me off, then show gets revived with new cast and format, turns out main dude died, and there is a new main dude, I am forced to like, and it turns out to be Human Target I love that dude, I see what you did actor choosers you made it easier for me like a new character, so I watched on, then you cancel it again. yo yo yo man now you tell me you want to re revive it. fuck this shit. I'm out permanently this time unless it gets re revived and then rearward after the revived season airs. can't trust this shit.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this show especially season 3. It's just another procedural sure, but there are days in which, as much as I love my serialized shows, that this what I am in the mood for. Season 3 particularly was really good and each episode featured big stuff, so I was sorry to see it go.
ReplyDeleteFrom a ratings point of view, I argued that ABC should not have gotten rid of it. If they only wanted 6 returning dramas it's understandable because this was the least financially appealing out of the 7 they had in contention, but they should have kept it as backup. I think the axing of DWTS results killed it (and I was all for that move by the way). I think that even its 1.2ish numbers that it pulled sans the DWTS lead in would look goodish for the tuesday 10pm slot, the thursday 8pm slot and the sunday 10pm slot. That is a lot of slots. Plus, it would sell well in syndication when it got there. The fact that ABC even needed to repeat it regularly during summer shows how much they needed this eternal sparkle show.
All this being said, although I am hoping this to be true, I have almost no confidence in this ever coming to pass. Like 5% odds or something like that. I will stay tuned but I am not hopeful at all, it seems almost impossible to put it together like this after all this time.
The show was never cancelled in season 2. So it was never "cancelled again".
ReplyDeleteHow they thought Betrayal and Lucky 7 would do much better when EVERYONE out here could predict their demises is beyond me. Seriously, aren't they supposed to be the experts?
ReplyDeleteRegardless, I always felt that, especially in a season with so many new hours (6!), plus intended midseason hiatus for 5 dramas, a reliable procedural as sparkle was an obvious renewal for them.
Does that mean it's the right time now to loudly yell "IDIOTS!" in ABC's faces? Hahaha.
ReplyDeleteBest comment reply of 2013! I laughed for 17 minutes!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a mistake. No offense to the fans, because hearing news like this is a difficult experience, but Body of Proof only averaged 1.4 in its third season. Given the confusion of cancellation and revival, as well as general season to season declines, I doubt it would average much more than 1.0 or 1.1 in a potential fourth season. That doesn't seem worth the trouble of reviving the show AFTER the cast, crew, and writers moved on to new projects.
ReplyDeleteCompare this to Unforgettable, which was revived only a month after its initial cancellation when the cast was still under their contracts. Even then Unforgettable has been marginal. Maybe since Body of Proof is close to syndication and can be syndicated with less than 88 episodes, it's worth the trouble, but I don't think it is. Then again, I would have renewed it as spackle back in May.
Yeah decide to bring it back just as the cast makes new deals and find new project that is great idea.
