UPDATE: The missing words have been filled in.

Here are this weeks teasers, any guesses on the missing words? As the preview copy was an unfinished version there was no trailer for 1.03 so apologises for no trailer teaser this week, and I have included more from the episode itself instead. As usual I will fill in missing words later in the week, and my thoughts are in the comments below.

“I think she cursed you”

“I think I can tell the difference between a woman and a monkey...most of the time”

“Perhaps your god is not as powerful as you believe”

“Is Medusa a common name?”

“Pray that this works or he’ll kill us both”

“Our king does not care how far his servants walk to collect herbs, so long as they are fetched”

“So your cunning plan to avoid paying your debts is to get yourself killed?”

“Are you out of your mind, no good has ever come from being honest!”

“There is nothing for me in Atlantis”

“Your death will merely mark the start of your suffering”

“Our rites will be revealed to you, and you will take them to your grave”

“It is only when we accept that we are lost that we find our true path”

  1. I’m split over my thoughts for this episode, I enjoyed it but do think it an odd second episode. I
understand that there is still another main cast member to introduce, but would have liked more on the royal family to have come to light too, and apart from a brief scene with one of them they are pretty much overlooked. I found some of the others lacked characterisation too; Hercules especially needs more fleshing out as I think he is in danger of becoming a one trick pony and I can’t see how he has managed to survive as long as he has before Jason, or indeed Pythagoras, came along.

And then there’s a whole side story which disappears half way through the episode, never to be mentioned again after being pretty important at the beginning. Yet they have gone to the trouble of giving Jason a scar on his arm where he was shot last week even though it is not mentioned, or is part of any plot, so I’m not sure where the continuity is coming from.

But apart from a few niggles it is a fair episode, it introduces Jemima Rooper character well whilst giving its share of scares, laughs, swashbuckling heroes and magical villains, and of course cryptic messages from the Oracle.

Overall it’s not as strong as last week’s opener imo, I’ll be voting it as OK when the poll comes out on Saturday evening, but still very watchable. I just hope that I am being over critical of it and the general public enjoy it more as I do think that this series has serious potential.

  2. I think that this is a very fair and accurate review!
There is potential there, and this is only the beginning. It will be interesting to see if the show will have fulfilled some of its promise by the end of the season.
Btw - going back to a conversation we had quite a few months ago :) - We both wished to see Colin Morgan live. I managed to watch him in The Tempest and have been really lucky to be able to get tickets for Mojo. Really looking forward to it.
Have you been able to see him?

  3. I had tickets for Tempest but then had a bad attack that day and wasn't able to go :'( My friend got me a programme and autograph though, god bless her! I heard that he was *very* good in the role and I would love to go see Mojo as it has a fantastic cast as well as Colin! I must try and get hold of tickets too, should be pretty special :)

  4. Yes, that is what I am hoping. I am travelling all the way from Austria. :)
It is great you got an autograph - I did go to the stage door after the play, but it was one of the days when he did not sign...

  5. Aww, I hope you get to met him at Mojo, my friend said that he was lovely. Mind you all the actors from Merlin are great with the fans, I saw Eoin, Tom and Rupes again at Cold Con 2 and the way they coped with questions/photos/etc was fantastic. I think that they got on so well really did help the show as it came across on screen too!

  6. Yes, absolutely. It sounds like they are all still in contact with each other.
We'll see if any bonding happens between the actors in Atlantis!
