Sorry, but no. The mere presence of Felicity in a promo isn't fan pandering and neither is a snippet of an argument that has nothing to do with any personal relationship stuff.
umm. did u not see him??? he was right there. he said "he did not come back to starling city to be the vigilante". u didnt hear that?? all she said was 2 words. dont hate, appreciate
Speaking two words is the opposite of excessive and her promo presence hasn't been excessive either. Let's run through some facts:
- There have been 6 season 2 promo (ad) videos and two teaser videos posted to STV so far for a total of eight. - Only one promo prominently features Felicity. One. - One prominently features Laurel. - Two promos are shared promos with The Tomorrow People.
- Felicity only speaks in three of the eight videos. - Felicity is completely absent from two videos. - Felicity appears for less than a second in two of the other videos.
In retrospect on EVERYTHING else that happened and all the gross stuff writers and promotional staff has pulled in last two months or so, yes it is fanpandering at its worst
Especially if other actors do not get to star in their spots this way
- Katie Cassidy is a supporting series regular just like Rickards. This show has no leading lady. There's Amell and then there's everyone else. - You like, scratch that, prefer Katie Cassidy over the newcomer. We get it. - The "actress addresses the fanbase" moment wasn't unique to Ricards. Willa Holland does the same thing in the Verdant teaser. Was that pandering as well?
"Especially if other actors do not get to star in their spots this way" That's just ridiculous. Making television isn't equitable or impartial and never has been. The promo department's job is to present what viewers are most interested in. That's not pandering. It's just common sense. If someone was clamoring for a Moira Queen spotlight ad I'm sure they'd make one.
Just because you're opposed to something doesn't make it disreputable.
Here comes the butthurt crybaby. Take it to the courts, people love Felicitty, get over it. She's popular, she will do promotion for the show. Stop annoying people here with your non-sense and find better arguments than babling about fanpandering every time, stop playing the victim with your false truth about Laurel.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Emily is perfect <3
ReplyDeleteOh great....another fan-pander-y promo...how "exciting"....

ReplyDeletewhat happend to the vidoe
ReplyDeletethey're definitely building up the hype, hope i'm not let down
ReplyDeleteNo you are right but excessive amounts of screentime of whatsherface in just about every promo does.
ReplyDeleteIn a promo titled "The vigilante" one would think there would be less or none of her face and more of the actual "The vigilante".

Your claims are patently false. Don't cry wolf.
IF this was the only promo? sure

The CW didn't give a title to this teaser. For such videos, we at SpoilerTV give a suitable name to it.
ReplyDeleteCrawl back to the hole you came out from.
