I see what they're trying to do here and yeah I kind of get it but the problem is that this whole threat isn't grounded on anything realistic. What I mean is that as the audience we're supposed to suspend our disbelief for the fantastical stuff: a world with super heroes and so on. Fine and dandy. For that to fully work the other mundane things are supposed to make sense and not leave you scratching your head.
This whole Sebastian Blood as bad guy/threat to Oliver and the Queen family doesn't make sense because I'm left with: "so f'n what?" Yeah OK he's trying to ruin the Queen family. Ruin their reputation and turn the city against them. So f'n what? What is the big deal? Why is this a threat and why am I supposed to care?
Its not like Oliver is in public office and Sebastian is trying to get him kicked out or prevent his re election. We also don't know what "Queen Consolidated" sells so its not like the bad publicity will keep people out of their stores or something. So why is this a threat? Why should Oliver give a rats ass what people think or what this guy is saying about him? Why does the ominous music play to of such dramatic effect around this plot line when Oliver should just tell this guy that regardless what he says; Queen Consolidated is still in business and doing well to just fuck off. I don't fully understand it and frankly I don't really care, when I should.
It seem at the end of the clip, that Blood agree with Oliver.......maybe not be friend but agree on something? Do we know if he is for or against the arrow in the city?
Thanks for the clip. Do we know who the wise wise friend is that gave Oliver that piece of advice? I would guess Diggle or Slade but can't remember if that talk ever happened.
I like Sebastian Blood, yeah he reminds me of Harvey Dent from TDK but, im not complaining.
Yes, I really do think that is one of the points of the character, unfortunately. But I really do think Kevin Alejandro does a great job in the role and isn't as cheesy as some of the other guest stars we've had.
It's easy to go over the top with a character who is supposed to be such a captivating speaker so I'm pleased that Alejandro found a way to do it that seems grounded and earnest rather than gratingly bombastic.
Could be but Blood is a villain in the comics so it's hard to tell just how far they're willing to stray from the source. If anything I do see them going TDK a good guy driven bad and he doesn't have the strength to survive his crucible so he gives into it.
Agreed, after watching this clip, I was about to guess there might be a new villain, "the Windbag"... lol but like you said that's probably the point of his character. I am curious if he will turn out bad in the end... I hope not as I'm sure that will only serve to give him another stage which to pontificate...boo
I liked the clip. Looks like they have a bit of understanding and not too much rivalry, buttt i don't want to talk too soon. I did enjoy the dialogue. Can't wait for tonight.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Interesting clip. Sebastian Blood's pontificating and soapboxing already drives me nuts but maybe that's the point.

I going to guess Blood won't be a bad guy hopefully he is ally than a villain

ReplyDeletemaybe Villain turned ally......Don't need to follow anything in the comic
ReplyDeletewhy does he let douche get inside his head

ReplyDeleteI know his comic book alter ego was a bad guy but I don't really have a feel for where they're going with this TV version yet.
ReplyDeletePossible, I have no problem with him being an ally or someone who has good intentions but is being used/manipulated by the big bad.
ReplyDeleteI mostly don't get why Oliver is so set on winning his approval.
