    Writing him consistently is one thing, not allowing him to learn from his mistakes is quite another. Even a dog learns not to stick its paw where it hurts.

    If it was the same situation maybe he would go about things differently but these situations are never the same. He can't learn from mistakes when the show doesn't write in opportunities for him to do so.

    Quite a few things are common sense. Don't bring a knife to a gun fight, don't chase a fleeing suspect into an enclosed area where they can attack you without being noticed, don't attack armed men when you don't have the ability to counter what they're attacking you with...

    It's the same thing that tells you not to poke the bear with a stick because that bear will probably eat you. It's like this kid has never watched or read anything at any moment in his entire life. Arrow is intentionally making him stupid just cause they can.

    It kind of reminds me of The Walking Dead, or hell, any zombie movie. Apparently in The Walking Dead's universe, zombie movies NEVER existed and that explains why people keep dying like idiots.

    Learning from one's mistakes and the capacity for common sense are two different subjects and I don't remember Roy being one to display a lot of common sense. So, as I said before, he's consistently written.

    An overzealous amateur with no training and the same kind of person who would play chicken with a guy firing an automatic weapon at him. Roy is no genius but at least they're writing him consistently.
