Arrow - Episode 2.02 - Identity - Preview

After the epic season premiere, Arrow hits its mark with a superb second episode, one filled with action, humour and the odd emotional moment. There are lots of brilliant scenes, particularly between two very different couples.

After deciding against using the list to find his targets in order to do some actual good in Starling City, Oliver is tasked with the mission of stopping China White and her new partner Bronze Tiger (Michael Jai White). The scenes with these guys in are pretty cool, so watch out for them.

After Walter's intervention, Oliver is seen in a position of authority at Queen Consolidated.  Felicity's been given a promotion which she abhors the idea of, while both she and Diggle are left with cover identities.

There's interesting developments in all three relationships on the show. Two are pretty straightforward while the other wasn't quite what I was expecting. You have to watch to find out.

Laurel is finally put to work in the DA's office. Her job role is reasonably limited here, but she has some interesting scenes off duty, including a very intriguing cliffhanger.

Roy continues to try and be a hero, but his attempts are repeatedly feeble. There's a cool twist towards the end of the episode that will no doubt leave him reasonably happy.

Sebastian Blood is introduced, an alderman who is very popular for his hopes of Starling City's citizens gaining back their lives. He has a distinct problem with Oliver, who he suggests as one of the causes of the city's destruction.

The island flashbacks mainly deal with Oliver dealing with the brutal murder of Shado's kidnapper. It was the first time he'd killed without it being an absolute necessity, so it's interesting to see how he reacts to it.

Other bits:
  • We find out the origin of the arrow stone that Oliver gave Thea in the pilot episode.
  • "My cover is as his black driver."
  • "They'll never see you as anything but a criminal."
  • Felicity may have a promotion, but isn't short of  one-liners.
  • Think back to the pilot episode. A theory stated then is proved wrong in this episode.
  • Verdant still has cool music

Tune into the CW at 8/7c this Wednesday.
