Welcome to the family is created by Mike Sikowitz who also happened to write the pilot as well. Sikowitz is more known as a writer. He wrote episodes for Rules of Engagement, Grounded for Life and Friends. The Pilot was directed by Michael Engler.

The series is about two newly High School graduates, Junior, the son of a Latino family, and Molly, the daughter of a Caucasian family who decide to get married after discovering that Molly is pregnant.

The cast include Mike O'Malley (Glee), Ricardo Chavira (Desperate Housewives), Mary McCormack (In Plain Sight), Justina Machado (Six Feet Under), Joseph Haro (Awkward.) and Ella Rae Peck (Gossip Girl).

I loved the pilot because of the amazing chemistry between Dan and Miguel (O’Malley and Chavira). Seriously those two gave a new level to the pilot. They are so good together that I almost forgot the rest of their families.

The only thing that annoyed me was the character of Molly. I just hope she will evolved into more than an average teenager, little bit too dumb and irresponsible for me. All the others were great in this pilot (even the little brother who made me laugh without saying anything).

I wasn’t really concern by the cultural aspect of the show. In my opinion it would have been as great without the Latino-Caucasian factor but maybe in the future they could do interesting stories about that. Hopefully nothing too cliché. It is a sitcom after all.

To be honest I will definitely watch the second episode. The cliffhanger at the end make me want more and I put the show on my Fall Schedule. The premiere of the show will air Thursday October 3rd at 8:30 PM on NBC but the pilot is already available online on Hulu (US Only) at http://www.hulu.com/watch/530998
