We are men pilot begin like a lot of romantic comedy. A guy is left at the altar by a girl and it feels like his life is over until…he meets people who will change his life.

Well I was a bit sceptical after seeing the preview for the Series’ premiere. The pilot is good but not great. The characters are well introduced and even if they’re a little bit of a caricatures, some guy could relate to those men. Don’t get me wrong it could be a good situational comedy, it all depends on how the writers will go from here

This show is based on 4 different guy. The central character, Carter, played by Christopher Nicholas Smith is the youngest. He had the same girlfriend for years and she pretty much define what his life have to be.

Frank, played by Tony Shalhoub, is the player of the group. He dates a lot of younger women and has been married 4 times. He has a daughter, Julie, who seems to have affinities with Carter. (How shocker!!) Tony is a great actor but will he be able to let us forget about his Monk character?? We’ll see.

Stuart, played by Jerry O'Connell, is currently dealing with his 2nd divorce and the lawyer of his 2nd wife is his 1st wife. It’s a bit cliché and I’m curious to see where his character will go from here.

The last guy is Gil, played by Kal Penn. Gil is separate from his wife, has a young daughter and actually want to get back with his wife. His behavior in the pilot was more subtle than the other 2 and his behavior less shocking.

If it was a romantic comedy I’d already know how it would end. Carter would be attracted to Julie but wouldn’t want to go there because of his friendship with Frank but after a while Frank would accept the fact that they belong together and everyone would be happy ever after.

I don’t think this show will last because it would have to be more than good, more than great to stand a chance against the competition for its time slot. With Bones on Fox until November, The Voice on NBC and Dancing with The Stars on ABC, I’m not sure it will last even with the help of How I Met Your Mother last season airing at 8 PM.

The show created by Rob Greenberg who also happened to write the pilot, is already available to watch online at cbs.com (US Only). The Series’ premiere will air on Sunday September 29 at 7:30 PM on Global in Canada and Monday September 30 at 8:30 PM on CBS in the US.
