I go with S4/S1 and S5/S2 simply because those were the only ones that were actually aired together in Germany.
ReplyDeleteS6 and S3 were split over a year and S7 and S7 never aired together, so it´s pretty hard to imagine what that feeling would have been like (great, anyway) but I wanted to stay honest, so I picked the mentioned above.
My least favorite combo was S4/S1 because those were my least favorite seasons though I loved all Faith episodes in both shows (plus Hush, I Will Remember You, etc. etc.)
ReplyDeleteSeason 4/1 - I Will Remember You was the best episode of either show, the Buffy/Angel shipper in me still watches that episode :(
ReplyDeleteI don´t even get the Spike/Buffy shipper. Spike tried to rape Buffy. Of course he got his soul back, but wouldn´t that be whitewashing? A lot people argue about the whitewashing of Angel in the comics.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, you know I did like Spike... he was fun and kinda sexy - I get the appeal. But Angel and Buffy were such an epic love, that nobody could ever replace what they had.. is the love that everyone dreams to have. I'm so mad at the Spike thing, because the writers (of the comics) won't give Buffy/Angel a happy ending because of Spike.

ReplyDeletegotta go with 4/1, and 5/2 as those are the seasons where there was a fair amount of references and interaction between the 2 series iirc, especially 4/1...

ReplyDeleteBuffy was at its best for me in the first 3 seasons, the pre-Dawn, pre-chipped Spike years. Angel, in the pre-Connor years. Therefore it is Buffy 4/Angel 1 for me.
ReplyDeleteI agree with this but for me it is also about ruining the very best villain Buffy ever had by turning him into a chipped, whipped puppy of emoangst. I loved Spike as a slayer-killing, snark-spouting villain and the series soured a lot when they decided they needed a substitute vampire lover in Buffy's life.

ReplyDeleteI understand that they brought back an actor they liked and a character many fans liked, so the Inititative Chip-thing was understandable for me and it was a decent character development, but Spike falling in love with Buffy, felt the very first moment out-of-character and was where my disbelief started to be not suspended anymore.
With how season six unfolded it even made sense to me that Buffy in her conditon was choosing Spike, but after the rape I thought Spike-Buffy was done. It was the first wrong statement on the show when she fell asleep aside of Spike in season 7 when she had no one else to turn to, because I don´t see any woman sleeping aside an attempted rapist, especially when she was the victim, all ensoulment aside.

S5/S2 because season 4of BtVS was the worst. And I really think Angel lost quality since S3, with the baby,
