I think it's really, really...actually extremely to the max ridiculous people think The Legend of Sleepy Hollow should exist within the show of Sleepy Hollow. I never even thought it would so I was shocked people seem so surprised, there's positively no way it could work IMO without it being really stupid, but what I've seen of it so far I think it could very well become one of my all time faves. And I think I'll like it more than Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow, which is my favorite movie by him.
And I'm glad SHIELD doesn't require me to have watched all the Marvel films already, I'm two Iron Mans behind, haven't seen Captain America either.
I am too (re: Sleepy Hollow) , I love them a LOT in the few clips we have already which I think says a lot about their chemistry, a lot of reviews say they play well of each other. I usually don't care much for ships but I could see myself shipping these two. :)
Blacklist: bla bla bla, just make a damn DNA test. If we are already wondering based on trailers, wouldn't experienced agents suspect anything? Intelligence: just give Josh Holloway a governor with wi-fi and he'll be alright. Chuck did. OUaT in Wonderland: what beef could be so huge? I was going to say they are sisters and Alice was the chosen one to stay with the parentes or some bs like that but then they wrote "like a sisterly rivalry" and I am thinking, they wouldn't be so obvious, would they?
Gotta say, giving the ridiculous time travel aspect, I expected the legend to exist, not just have some random person come from the past that nobody has ever heard of or cared about. What is the point then of even calling it Sleepy Hollow, it has nothing to do with the story (much like the horrifically bad Tim Burton "adaptation") and the story isn't even part of it. All they've taken then is the name? What's the point?
Sleepy Hollow - They run risks either way - making the book exist or not, so I'm willing to go with that. It does cut out some potential intrigue with the Irving character though. I thought this was NOT time travel though and instead a full-on resurrection of Crane.
Ironside - Blair was the best thing about the tepid pilot.
Hostages - Wow, in one paragraph they have killed all my interest in this show. If the doctor becomes involved with the man threatening to kill her family, I'm walking before it starts.
Crisis - If this is truly a one shot, no season 2 thriller, this could be the highlight of the midseason for me.
Crazy Ones - Whether they pay for it or not, they do run the risk of feeling like an infomercial. Good thing Robin Williams is bound to steal every scene...even from a big shot like McDonalds. This is one comedy I am really looking forward to.
Blacklist - Looking forward to this one too, but it all hinges on one thing...DNA test. If they don't immediately do a DNA test, I'm going to think the Feds are as stupid on this show as they are on The Following and that will kill my interest.
Back in the Game - I like Maggie Lawson but after watching that pilot, just no.
Trophy Wife - Big mistake in not reshooting the kid's scenes. If you are going to replace a character, then do it right. They must not have high hopes in this one if they weren't willing to reshoot those scenes.
Reign - Did anyone actually think Reign was going to be historically accurate?
Wonderland - So they are sisters. Great. Let's hope this whole thing isn't a big love triangle in disguise.
SHIELD - I don't read comics but Arrow has been accessible to me. I think that's how this one is going to be. You might some of the jokes, but you'll still be entertained throughout.
About your Hostages comment: I'm with you on this one, the only way I could see that work in a slightly realistic way, is if she tries to seduce her captor (not that that ever works out on tv, but that would atleast give it a semi-realistic explanation).
Trying to play him would definitely be a better explanation. I was thinking perhaps they were involved before he revealed himself as a terrorist, but the context didn't sound right. I will wait a few episodes and see what other people think before investing time in this one.
Um...I might not have read literally "time travel" maybe that was an assumption. I might have filled in the logic gaps with whatever Washington Irvine stuff I have rattling in my brain. It could be resurrection...or something else...I just thought he "woke up" in the present day without consciousness of the intervening time along with the headless horseman and deemed that "time travel". Time jump might be a more appropriate term.
Because its a cool name, with a cool iconic character... The headless horsemen, no way to do an interesting series of this story without taking basic concepts and doing what you will. It's freaking 15 pages long.
The point is they thought it was a cool way to do a reimagining, and they were correct.
Yeah I don't get the usage of the term, in the promos it looks like he's healed and just put in some sort of stasis until the horsemen returns. Also Ichabod says he "woke up" in the future so that is the most likely explanation.
Hostages it`s been growing on me i wanna watch that show but that thing about falling for the eprson that kidnnaped your family is just crazy, at least she is doing to someway kill the guy.... OUIW Sisterly¿? i hope that means that they were friends and both got into the Rabbit Hole and one becomes good and the other evil
I have to rewatch those promos and teasers again. For some reason I could have sworn that he was officially dead, like the horseman, and literally rose from the dead when the horseman did. I have no idea where I got hat idea from unless I misread a trailer, which could definitely have happened.
I actually like this reimagining concept thus far, a lot more than the reimagining of Dracula. I think it gives them a lot to play with and actually deepens the mythology behind the characters. Like you said, the actual story is too short to really dig deep so by tweaking it, they offer themselves a world of avenues to explore.
SH - I'm all for keeping the meta in check, so I'm glad they kinda took that out of the equation.
Crisis - I think it's been hinted quite heavily that behind those glasses Dermot Mulroney's character might be quite the badass ex-CIA agent.
The Blacklist - I hope that's not him mincing around words from admitting that she is his daughter. I'm hoping if that was originally their idea, now after everyone and their mother having made that speculation, they might actually go back to the drawing board and think up of something new.
The Trophy Wife - so wait... what... they're recasting... they're going younger but they're NOT reshooting? Yeah... that's just weird.... is she like a whole new daughter then? I don't get it....
Reign - The anachronisms and historical inaccuracies will bug the hell out of me. I know it. It's definitely something I'm not looking forward to about the show at all.
About a Boy - David Walton is due for a hit.... please let this be it (even though I am weary.... it's midseason.... those nearly never pan out)
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I was surprised he spoke so highly of Hostages, and had to laugh,he is already shipping the actors in Sleepy Hollow!

ReplyDeleteConsidering Wonderland is from the same people that brought us OUAT being obvious and predictable is a given.
ReplyDeleteI am surprised that they are calling it time travel when all indications had been that Crane was resurrected from the dead.

ReplyDeleteThat's possible. Only 4 more days until we know for sure!!! :D
ReplyDelete"Four very long days" indeed. I'm getting more excited about this show than any of the others and there are more genre shows debuting now than ever.
