The Simpsons topped the night, that's a shocker.
ReplyDeleteThe Fox numbers will probably be adjusted quite a bit for the final adjusted numbers due to Football overruns.
ReplyDeleteI'm fine with a 2.7 for Once. And in reality, the current way of counting ratings is so outdated, these numbers mean nothing. Between DVR, On Demand, and online viewing, they really need to change the way they measure audiences.
ReplyDeleteLooks like ABC bombed with another new Sunday show. And I wouldn't be surprised if CBS will announce soon than this season of The Mentalist will be its last.
ReplyDeleteMost likely Revenge will end up with a 2.5 or 2.6 which is not bad especially when facing both Homeland and Breaking Bad.
ReplyDeleteThose are actually good premiere numbers for Once Upon a Time and Revenge. After the horrible erosion in Spring, both shows came back bigger and stronger. Of course it's disappointing that both weren't higher, but realistically, this is as good as it gets. I'm actually really happy with those results, I was expecting something much worse.
ReplyDeleteHope those numbers for Once Upon A Time hold! Looks like the recap special that aired prior helped it somewhat. 25 seasons later and The Simpsons is still going strong! Lock for renewal methinks.
ReplyDeleteI hope Once has higher ratings than the 2.7 it got from the top 25 markets. It feels like the type of show small markets would watch more.
ReplyDeleteIt's not a shocker considering The Simpsons' lead-in and happened in the past too after Football.. It's actually quite a low number considering I remember it getting even 4.2 after Football last year and now no show broke 3.0.
ReplyDeleteIf these hold, I think this is a victory for Revenge and for CBS Fridays. But I read somewhere that last year's OUAT went from a 4.4 top 25 to a 3.9 in its premiere nights, so I don't want to hold my breath just yet for revenge, because a 2.0 wouldn't be that positive. I wish OUAT could have been higher though. Let's see.
ReplyDeleteI hope OUAT and Revenge adjust up and not down. 2.7 and 2.5 are good ratings when you compare it to their dreadful performance in spring (specially dreadful in Revenge's case). Would have liked them to do better? Of course, but it's still way up from their finales (OUAT 2.3 --> 2.7, Revenge 1.7 --> 2.5)
ReplyDeleteI hope so too. But remember, Sleepy Hollow scored a 3.2 and got up to a 3.5, so I'm crossing my fingers for such thing here, but I also shouldn't get my hopes way too up.
ReplyDeleteIt's the only measuring system we have and it's not really for us, the fans. It's for the advertisers.
ReplyDeleteYeah I know that. And I don't want to be pessimistic but it is likely that they just have different demographics, as in OUAT scoring better in top25 than overall markets (as last year) and Sleepy Hollow scoring better in overall than in top25 markets. I think it is unlikely that such demographics just from one year to the other but crossing fingers here. This OUAT number is actually more or less what I expected. Revenge did better than I thought, so I am actually expecting more adjustments for it than for OUAT. We should know in about half an hour.
ReplyDeleteBitting my nails here! I think it's likely that we see Revenge adjusting down to 2.3/2.4 (which is still good) and OUAT to 2.5, but not lower than that. Let's hope they actually go up.
ReplyDeleteWell, even if they adjust down quite a bit, they still are on their 3rd season, so they will get their 4th by default... just hoping they get them with good ratings :/
