A quality channel acquires a quality series :

Sundance Channel (Top of the Lake, Rectify) has acquired U.S. broadcast rights to the eight-part French supernatural drama The Returned (Les revenants).

It will premiere on Sundance Channel on Halloween, October 31, and air every Thursday at 9 PM.

"We decided to take zombies to a new and utterly original level — we made them French!" stated Sarah Barnett, President of Sundance Channel.

An American VOD/DVD release of the first season will follow in January 2014. France and the UK (the show aired there on Channel 4) have already released the show on DVD.

Season 2 will start filming in early 2014.
