The Bridge - Episode 1.12 - All About Eva - Advance Review

After last week's bombshell ending, which saw Marco's son, Gus, dead at the hands of David Tate, The Bridge returns for its season one penultimate episode. This episode picks up about a month after the showdown on The Bridge and Marco does not look to be anywhere close to a recovery. As he puts it he's been, "either drunk or sleeping" for the last month. While Marco seems content to let the world go on without him, Sonya is able to pick up a new case relatively quickly, which she plans to use to coax Marco back to work.

Sonya meets up with the recently returned Steven Linder. Linder has been noticeably absent from the last few episodes and his return is welcomed. Poor introvert Linder, believes he loves Eva, a girl he hardly even knows. Unfortunately for Eva, he thinks in a way similar to Franklin Mott on True Blood (Google that non-True Blood fans!). With the David Tate story line seemingly wrapped up, Linder should be able to have more of a central role on the show. Though he will always play second to Marco and Sonya, I believe we are going to be seeing a lot more of Steven Linder in season 2.

Over to the other secondary story line, Charlotte is continuing to gain more interest in the workings of the tunnel. I can't say too much on this story line, considering the time jump and the potential for big spoilers, but expect her to become similar to Ray… in more than one way. I really hope this story line either; A. Wraps up at the end of the season or B. Is interwoven into another story line. This story could be interesting, but it seems to be at a stand still. Hopefully, it won't be long before the DEA comes looking for their dearly departed informant.

Daniel Frye, meanwhile, is still in the midst of recuperating from his fall (unlikely that he would survive? Yeah. Am I complaining? No). His faithful sidekick, Adriana, remains by his side (most of the time). While she has been busy watching over Daniel, she would seem to have found some time to get back to her own personal life… and her mother is none too happy about it.

Overall, I felt a little underwhelmed by this episode, which is a first for The Bridge. It wasn't bad, but it was definitely a setup episode. The tension that surrounded the David Tate story is definitely falling. It kind of had to though after the unbelievable amount of tension in the last episode. It should definitely be noted that this is the first episode to continue beyond the original series. We'll have to see what these writers can come up with on their own now! I'm sure it will be great.

Rating: 7.5/10
