It was a rough day for many great quotes yesterday as we ended the tightest groups of polls yet. Sadly, "brooding shoulders" fell by 1 vote to perdition, but at least the fairies died by 3 votes. With only 4 votes separating them, the angel and demon quote beat protective Dean as well. (sigh) Things should be similarly tough this round as many fan favorites go against each other, often pitting long, drama quotes against short, funny snark. Happy voting

1. I like both quotes but "saving people, hunting things - the family business" is the entire series in a nutshell. It would take something more special than liquor store to make me vote against it.
ReplyDelete2. I am vastly in the minority on this one. I can't wait until something kicks out the Yellow Fever dissertation/quote. Sadly it won't be protective, kick butt Dean doing it this round.
3. Again I am in the minority, but Dean's sobfest at John's grave is one of the remaining quotes that I really do not like. Again it will move on despite the Metallica awesomeness.
4. For once, I vote the serious, emoangsty speech/quote over the snark because I think this is the best acted, most intense monologue of the entire series. Very little on TV has been as moving as Dean asking what he's supposed to do over Sam's corpse.
5. Sam's shoe quote is one of the very best in the series, involving both brothers in its greatness. To think this will fall to emoangst from season 8 in an episode that ultimately failed in all ways is heartbreaking. Especially since "low sodium freaks" already lost.
6. I like both of these better than half of the other quotes in this poll, but I'm giving it to the only season 8 quote still in this contest that I actually like.
7. While I was all for them hunting down and shooting Chuck, nothing is more classic Winchester than the first quote. It will be hard to top this one for me.
8. Again in the minority because I never liked the Mystery Spot quote, not even the first time. It's 10 year old boy humor that I do not appreciate. Give me a smart villain who knows not to underestimate the Winchesters any day, especially if that villain is played by Mark Sheppard.
1. The Family Business does really sum up the show. Enough said.
ReplyDelete2. Screw Hunting. Back when the boys traded back and forth with dissatisfaction and didn't rake each other over the coals for wanting to not be surrounded by death and monsters. It was a nice counterpoint to the humor of the episode, but still not my favorite part of Yellow Fever, but since I don't care for the Croatoan quote, I'm going with it.
3. Sorry, snark for me. The voice says I'm almost out of minutes, is probably my favorite Cas line.
4. Not a fan of either. Flip a coin.
5. Trial and Error. Not because it was that good of a line. It was heavy handed. But at that point, I was so tired of Dean's my way or the highway attitude, it was really good to hear Sam beg him to have faith in him (not that it lasted). ::sigh::
6. Toss up. Went with Baby.
7. So hard. Love both. Ahh!!! I went with line I actually like over sentiment. We have guns.
8. Both good. Mystery Spot relied on the delivery. Crowley had both wit and delivery. Crowley wins. Don't underestimate a GED and a give-em-hell attitude.

I don't like any of the things the brothers say while under some spell or another. It's not really them.
3) Not really thrilled with either, but Metallica gets it.
4) Dean's solo speech over Sam's body is the best of the solo's he has given and so beautifully acted, so it gets my vote.
Castiel's vacuous humour has never made me smile.
5) 'I lost my shoe', four simple words that have made this an epic quote.I vote it.
Thing is, I agree with every word of the other quote, they ARE both smart AND both geniuses AND they should trust each other, but all this was left hanging while crappy season eight played out differently, scattering the words of this quote to the four winds!
6) I like both of these but Jason Bourne gets it this time. :)
7) 'Jerk-bitch' Duh!
8) I absolutely love Crowley's quote about being careful of the 'denim-clad nightmares'. It will always get my vote. :)
I see we agree on almost all the quotes this round, although i think you mixed something up with your comment on quote number six. The season eight quote isn't among the options, at least I don't think. :).
ReplyDelete1. I was surprised when I cast my vote and liquor store was not winning, I would have voted for it against almost any other quote except FAMILY BUSINESS is the show...at least it used to be.

8. I can't believe the Crowley quote is losing...it shows just how bad the Winchesters really are. Even the King of Hell is afraid of them, this makes me really sad.
The second quote in poll 6 is from Remember the Titans, a season 8 episode.

ReplyDeleteWe did vote very similarly. I am glad "lost my shoe" is winning, because I thought for sure it was going to fall for a quote that never resonated with my either, even though it should have.

Sorry about the denim-clad nightmares.though. I love that description of the brothers, but I'm glad the Castiel quotes were eliminated, that makes up for it.
Ha! The only reason I know these quotes so well is because I have been working with them for over a year now. Cut, paste, and type them that much and they become ingrained. :-P
ReplyDeleteI was overall pleased with this round's results, much more than with most. I too wish Crowley would have moved on to the next round but most of the quotes I didn't think deserved to make it this far were eliminated. Plus Dean's two big speeches will go against each other next round so hopefully I can get rid of the weepy graveside sobfest next and be really pleased with this side of the bracket. Now if only Jerk, B** could kill off the unfunny teen boy humor of the Mystery Spot quote next time.
