Shannon Lucio (The O.C.) has been tapped to guest star on Supernatural as a love interest for Misha Collins’ newly-anthropomorphic alter ego, TVLine has learned exclusively.
Lucio’s character, April Kelly, turns up in Season 9′s third episode, airing Oct. 22.

I wish people would realize that not all fans who ship Destiel are crazy extremists. Yeah, I'm a little disappointed about this 'love interest', but I can still appreciate that Cas is getting his own, major storyline.

Just because I ship a male/male couple and want them to be together doesn't mean I'm a monster, but from some of the comments you see on this site sometimes, you would think that was the case. I know there are Destiel shippers that will overreact and be hateful about this news and I am just as saddened and upset by that as anyone else, but that doesn't mean that every shipper will act that way. And I personally think we have the right to be upset about this if we want to be, just as if it were some other spoiler that people didn't like then they'd have the right to be upset about that too.
So go ahead, down-vote my comment and attack me for not being thrilled about this or being upset by it. I'll never stop believing I have a right to my opinion (as long as I'm respectful and polite and respect other people's opinions too) and I'm not going to disappear or stop providing my opinion just because other people don't agree with it.
Not sure how that's new, except for the fact we have the character and actress' names (and the episode she's appearing in)
ReplyDeleteWe already know Cass was getting some action and there was no way we would see some Dean-Cass sex scene and kisses and stuff. I think we heard somewhere too it would be with a new character anyway.

ReplyDeleteAs for these spoilers, what's her role on the show again? A love interest? Is that now considered a function in a plot? Makes total sense in a show about monsters and the eternal war between heaven and hell. You need at least one inane character every season to keep one or more of the boys "interested" while the world falls apart around them. Once you have bored the audience long enough you can drop her in the pit of Forgotten WTF Characters where famous names such as Amelia, Lisa, Daphne, Cassie and Amelia Novak reside.

They are threatening to never watch the show again, and proclaiming Dean and Castiel's love for Dean. So no, the shippers are not all being sane. I for one, am looking forward to this new storyline. I enjoyed the actress on The O.C.

ReplyDeleteLook at every other love interest, they never end up good. I mean, just look at Amelia last season! They just bring them for cheap plot with no intention of actually developing them as characters and not really that much impact on the overall plot. And that really doesn't work for me outside dhows that are about dating.
I'm still so pissed about Amelia, I liked her a lot, but at the end of the day it just feel all these women are replaceable and it just makes me so angry.
Don't even get me started on Sarah Blake.
I really want to think this is going to be a character with even a little of self agency, but... sigh.
PS: I've always liked the idea of Castiel being more attracted to older women (Ohhh, Anna Torv would have been so amazing for me)

So when they define the character as "love interest" you know how it's going to be.
I was going to say not all shippers are like that cause I don't feel that way, but then I realized, tho I do like the idea of them, I wouldn't call myself a shipper; cause there are many other aspects of the show I prioritize.

I mean there was an article about season 7 for dean having a love interest and it never happened so maybe this could just be his little one night stand partner! And yes i saw that website with the article about this and people are being way too dramatic about it and also the people are saying they wont watch the show anymore because Dean/Cas wont be together.... What a load of crap, thats the stupidest reason to not watch. What about all the other storylines?? I just hope this girl lives! I dont ship destiel as a romance couple, but i do think they are like brothers and best friends but never a romance couple. I will always watch spn but those people need to get there heads out of their asses and focus on waiting to see what the whole season brings us and not just getting upset because they dont like one little detail about not getting there precious dean/cas romance. Some people are mixing fanfiction and reality again. It was kind of obvious they would never film kising and sex scenes between those 2

ReplyDeleteYeah, (/sarcasm) the show must planning on making "Wincest Canon", too, if what's on the Gag Reel is taken as future 'Supernatural Canon'. It's called the Gag Reel for a reason ... the actors make dialog or action bloopers/mistakes and then decide to have fun for a few moments to absolutely poke at themselves and the wincest and destiel fans.

ReplyDeleteTrue. The show does have to evolve and the characters need to grow and develop. I just think more attention needs to be put toward the mytharc and history as the characters will grow with this.
ReplyDeleteAnd it also depends on how big you want the bottom of the pyramid. The writers have Dean, Sam and the mythology to focus on. Developing more of the supporting characters may take away from the overall quality of the story.
