  4. A nice return, but short of being "Awesome" by a fair amount to me.

I think the Elias reveal was wasted and had no surprise or impact being that we knew he was alive and they would likely touch on it in the season premiere. I guess I prefer Elias sightings to be more random and unexpected.

I also missed the banter between Team Machine v1.0 (Finch and Reese) quite a bit. With the re-introduction of Shaw to the team and so many quick glances at various open plots from last year the episode felt a little off its game to me. I would have preferred we got back with Elias and/ or Root in a later episode to let some suspense build.

Don't get me wrong, I liked both B-plots quite a bit. I just think that they would have been better served as A-plots in later episodes than background arcs in the season premiere.

I did like Root as a psych patient! XD
I think we all knew she was arguing about killing her doctor, but it still was fun to see it all play out.

Sad to see Carter as a street cop, but her role seems to have changed little as it relates to Team Machine. She still provides them with information and does grunt work.

I spit out some of my coffee laughing when I realized the tubby leprechaun looking handsome cab driver was Fusco! XD
I'm glad he got to be active this week and even show he had a brain by disarming the IED!

Nice to see the old faces again!
I wish there was a deeper more detailed premiere episode, but this catch up episode was a lot of fun for now!

  5. I loved the pairing of Shaw and Reese. Their banter is fun,

  6. I thought this was just okay. The case of the week was pretty boring to me. Compared to how amazingly awesome the s2 finale was, the premiere was a bit of a let down. The Root/psych doctor scenes were great though. And I love how Root refers to the Machine as "her"

  7. No, I caught all of that, but I also expected all of that after the events at the end of last season.

I always assumed he would be back in the game and a major player. Honestly I did not consider that Carter/ Elias dynamic post-rescue, but it makes sense that he could hold it over her. None of that seemed at all new or big to me. I expected it all I guess.

Being able to grab the diamonds at the end was fun, but not surprising seeing as he supplied the fence's name to Team Machine. Elias is always looking to make the most out of any opportunity and passing up the chance to fund his syndicate with more than a million dollars of "free" diamonds is just not something he would do.

I do agree ....It will be interesting to see how he operates now seeing as he has reasons to be angry with just about every player on the board. My guess is that he will play against them all by playing them all against one another in a clandestine manner. Sometimes supporting one side to weaken a rival . Then later supporting the weakened rival to bring down a stronger group. That way he keeps everyone in check and keeps them worrying about one another more than about him.

Like tonight he helped Team Machine to take the Russians down a peg, but later he could just as easily help the Russians to take HR (or any other group) down a peg. I think an added benefit of doing that would be that by staying in the background pulling strings and moving pieces on the board he could stay off of Team Machine's radar for the most part.

  8. Awesome episode. So glad to have this show grace us with its presence on the airwaves once again. Truly one of the most fun and awesome shows out there right now. Loved Shaw's involvement in the group. I hope we get a little more Reese/Finch from here on since they're the true core of the show, but I do like how Team Machine has grown and I love each member. When's Leon coming back?

  9. I missed it! I didn't realize it was on yet and on a new night. I was looking around the listings for new episodes last night and only saw NCIS. I'll have to catch it tonight.

  11. I'm sure you had it. I've been in my summer-tv mode until recently - not even really thinking about fall programs until the past couple of weeks. I compartmentalize.

  12. "It was an okay episode. I'm finding Shaw is disrupting the dynamic between Reese and Fitch.Maybe i just need to get use to her,i don't see her as part of the team, that is probably the problem.."

I agree about Shaw, but I think she's intentionally disrupting. I think this episode tried to make ligh of Shaw's somewhat unruly disposition, but I think this is setting up her season 3 long term story line, which hopefully will result in showing a more compassionate/sentimental Shaw on occasion...It's interesting though that machine consider's her an asset, but given we might be dealing with government and crazy mob, maybe sentimental is not what Reese and Finch are going to need???? But this is def not what Finch signed up for and I would think given Reese's relationship with his former partner, Stanton, that he wouldn't be too keen on a repeat.

  13. I also liked her in S2, i thought she was great, but i wasn't as ecstatic as everyone else when it was announced she was upped to a regular. If anything i saw her in as a recurring..I know i'm not being fair,it is only the first episode...but still.

  14. Intentionally disrupting? I guess she could be! We all know how unruly she could be,i think my problem is i rather have her as a recurring character instead of a regular.I always liked the Finch/Reese relationship, for me it worked,it made the show..

It was only the first episode,I'm sure I'll feel differently down the road,i just hope its or the better! :P......... come to think of it i didn't like her (or the show) in Fairly Legal.

  15. What I mean is, intentionally written to be over the top in this episode, because even though the episode was trying to make fun of it, her disposition may very well become a serious problem, which will launch her characters season arc/past identity.

  16. I nearly died from laughing when she kicked Will out of the car, that was a great scene! Yeah, she was good in Alias.

Ah,now i understand what you meant. If nothing else it will be interesting getting to know her past.

  17. Glad to have POI back! This was a fun return to the show. I'm glad Carter and Fusco are still there and still part of the team. While I can appreciate the new dynamics created with the additions of Shaw and Root to the show, and they are interesting characters, I still think they would've been fine as recurring. I missed the interactions that Fusco and Carter had with Reese and Finch. As it was, they barely made time for Fusco's background, or deepening relationship with the team, last season. This episode showed even less time with Fusco and Carter interacting with the team. Aside from that, I did enjoy this episode, and look forward to what's next for the team.

  18. Great episode, just didn't feel like a season premiere, especially after season 2's epic premiere but we do have a lot of different dynamics and shake ups and we got a few glimpses of Fusco and Carter. Still not quite sold on Shaw and Root but hey, I have a whole season to warm up to them.

  19. I put 'awesome', just because it's great to finally have this show back and it was a lovely reunion... although in reality the episode was not perfect.

Root's little diatribe at the end was delicious and creepy. Loved it, and I can't wait to learn more about what is going on with her and the machine.

The number-of-the-week case was pretty strong. I loved the moment where the guy orders the champaign for the lovebirds and drops an uncut diamond in it. Such a nice touch, which is what I love about this show.

I love that Carter is doing her own secret bit of detective work about HR. Now that she has been demoted she will find she actually has a lot more time on her hands to work on her own case.

    But...
I'm not really digging Shaw being part of the team. She was just a female Reese with a bit more attitude.

  20. I do not like Shaw. The fact that she is a series regular is going to be a problem for me. Root is fine, but only in small doses. I love Carter and am really interested in the Carter/Elias dynamic. I hope they use Fusco a little more in future episodes than they did last night. And please don't let Shaw continue to disrupt the dynamic between Reese and Finch. Reese and Finch did just fine with a little help from Carter and Fusco. Shaw is not needed.

  21. Great start to the new season. love the new graphic (in the computer section) and what it implies about the new way the Machine is processing what it sees. Loved Root (very creepy final line) and Loved that with the addition of the new regulars I still didn't feel like anyone was slighted.

  22. Great episode to me, I think this is a simple episode to set things, learn more about the new dynamic of the team machine, know how Carter acted with Elias and H.R. issues (revenge is coming), the case of the week was simple too, like I say we learn more how Shaw works with the team and I think was a great start for her.

The script here was important here to give main characters few moments for everyone to shine. I sense a little bit more attention with Carter (this season will be her moment).

I'm very worry about the machine plans, I think this talk with Root was mystery so far and very strange.

If you guys have concern, don't worry like Finch say at the end "things will become more complicated soon" and I think the storm in this season will arrive soon and even sooner that in the season 2.

  23. I think you badly underestimated or misread the impact Elias's scene had. That scene was crucial, because it shows he's back, he still has power, he still has his right hand man, and his list of criminal connections also grew. He also has a lot of control over Carter, where she has almost zero over him.

Elias is back, he will have plenty (more) of cash thanks to Marconi cleaning up the diamond trade, and he has power. Now he has to decide which side he supports, and how much he wants to take down HR and the other gangs, which will have a sizeable impact on the workload of the other characters.

  24. I really like Shaw. She's a badass woman.
