  1. Just amazing..... I'm intrigued about the purpose of the bad guys

  2. That's like saying "I can't wait to see what happens with that stuff later." ;)

  3. pretty good ep that was a lot of set up, but still managed to draw you in for what's to come. I like the premise with all the layers with the family and their issues and possibly with the kidnappers as well... I'm going to give it a couple more eps, but it's looking pretty good that this will make the rotation. I am curious if this is intended for a one off (unlikely for a network show, but you never know) as I'm not fully convinced that the story can go past a season successfully, ala Prison Break imho....

  4. To those who read my Pilot Preview a few days ago, was I on the money??

  5. It was a cool pilot, but if the characters have to be "hostaged" for another 2 weeks before the next surgery, I feel like things are going to go stale. The suspense will latter off, things will just go slow and things will get pointless. I would rather that the hostage-taker wants her to do other bad stuff in the time leading up to the next surgery. Of course, I could be wrong, and the next episode could be even better, but this is just what I feel after watching the pilot.

P.S. I hate a show that kills off animals. I like animals way more than humans, so when I first found the dog lying on the ground, I almost skipped watching the rest of the episode. I'm glad to see I continued, since we found out it was only drugged and was going to be fine - but sometimes, these executive producers should be a lot more careful and not let too much time go before the audience finds out if they really survived or not.

  6. I have a feeling the President is somehow responsible for Duncan's wife coma.

  7. It was a good pilot. It's gonna be really interesting to watch what Ellen will do to get herself and her family out of this situation. She was willing to cut off her finger! I wonder if Stockholm/Lima syndrom will come into play in the next couple of episodes.

  10. They should have cast a different actress as the mother. The one playing her now isn't strong enough to carry the show. The rest of the cast is fine and pull their weight but most the episode focuses on the mother and she feel flat and emotionless.

  11. She won an Emmy for another show where she played multiple characters yeah I'm sure she can carry the show.

  12. I thought it was pretty good. Felt line the start of a movie. It's a good setup and I feel like each episode will revolve around each day till the surgery which explains the 15 episode order to me at least. Sad about the rating but if doesn't do well they could just make it a one off and complete the story, and if it gets better I feel like they could take the whole Hostage concept in a much bigger metaphor

  14. I know Toni Collette has won an Emmy and a Golden Globe, but she is awful in this. If it weren't for her in this episode, I'd have probably said it was better than The Blacklist's pilot episode.

The scene where Carlyle shoots the hostage, knowing he's the bad guy, and then his comment to the cop afterwards, that was brilliant.

I was sceptical about where this can go but after seeing the episode I have high hopes for it.

  15. I am underwhelmed by this show hopefully the next episode will be better. If this resourceful woman is so good why does she not know she has a pregnant Daughter, A Dope dealing Son and a Cheating husband?

  16. Simply awful. ZERO originality, tons of fillers plus another show with uberannoying teenagers.

  17. Toni Collette is not able to carry a show? I think one episode is not enough to make us come to that conclusion for anyone, much less in her case. She is a great actress. Of course, she might be terrible in this role and you can end up being right all along, but IMO it's way too early to say that.

  18. I had high hopes for this, but I'm utterly disappointed. The concept is interesting, but I found the family to be über annoying. Pregnant girl, drug dealer boy (btw, I know BrBa is super famous right now, but can people stop throwing drug dealers in every single show?), cheating husband, accomplished angel of a mother. Unless they come up with something very interesting for the kidnappers, they're getting cancelled real soon.

  19. Maybe she was great in another show I don't know I've never seen her in anything but this so my impression of her acting was based on the pilot in which she was awful. Emmies don't mean much these days its about the most downhill award show there is.

  20. Oh, my argument is not based on her Emmy, not on her Oscar nomination, that's beside the point. I simply think there is enough evidence (and by that I mean her other works) to give us pause and make us think twice before saying she is unable to do it after one episode. Mainly because none of the other actors did an amazing job in here, and some of them, such as Tate Donavan, are AWESOME. This leads me to think that we have a writing and/or directing problem, not an acting one. But, anyhow, just my opinion.

  21. I was hooked from the start, and so was my friends. Really hoping for better ratings! Of the new premieres this fall, this show is my favorite

  22. WTF? You have a problem with a dog being killed, but not with humans taking other hostages, ordering hits on people, etc?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Dude, you pretty much implied that you wanted to stop watching the show because the dog was dead. But the human suffering didn't stop you, now did it?

  24. I just caught up on the pilot and thought it was really good. I'm surprised the ratings aren't better.
