  2. I think the court case was interesting especially the part of a prison information broker.

  4. "Don't end up hating me..." That just had me in tears!
In classic TGW style, the episode had me giggling, squealing, smiling and all the way to crying at the end.
I'm so happy the season started! :)

  5. I truly think this show is the best on TV at the moment, head to head with AHS. The other ones that can top it are in off-season or just ended (yes, I mean BrBa). And the season premiere proved they still have stories to tell.
I only hope the ratings pick up now that Heisenberg is gone, because, man, if I loose TGW and BrBa in the same year, I'm going bananas.

  6. Great start! The case was very interesting. I have to say though that, as much as I appreciate the possibilities of storyline that the separation entails, I hate that Alicia is going through with it. It breaks her character for me. The character of Alicia, in my mind, could have no motivation to go against her friend Will and people like Dianne who have mentored her. I can't support it. I know I will like to see it unfold and all as it will create a lot of drama, but I don't appreciate what it does to Alicia as a character. And yes, I am alone at this. Anyway, I enjoyed the episode!

  7. I might have to start watching again now that I know John Noble is returning and Jason O'Mara has a reoccurring role!

  8. I understand everything you are saying and I also appreciate greatly the fact that The Good Wife moves in a grey area with its characters rather than a black and white one. My problem is that I don't see any good reason for Alicia to "look out for herself" this way. I mean, it would be one thing if she wasn't given her partnership position that she was seeking last year and she needed to start on her own, but that is not the case. In fact, the creators interviews even suggest that the major reason for her to do this is because she has chosen Peter, so she wants to get away from Will for good. That, for me, is not looking out for herself and, in my mind, the Alicia character would not betray all these people that have helped her before just to get away from a guy, it makes no sense. But this is a conflicting position I have, because even though I don't appreciate what it does to the character, I enjoy seeing it play out and I think it has lead and will continue to lead to great drama. I am especially looking forward to the next episode with the WIill/Alicia confrontation, even if I hate to see them that way.

  9. John Noble's return is one of the most enigmatic things ever, without spoiling you. We have spoken quite a few times about different shows but I am not entirely clear on which kinds of shows you like. I dearly enjoy the good wife, even though I realize it is not a type of show for everyone, but from my part, I highly recommend it.

  10. I watch a lot of different genres. I liked the Good Wife up until season 3 and I just felt like it wasn't really going anywhere (and MJF's character was driving me nuts!)

I think the thing I tend to stay away from the most is sitcoms and things that are more comedy than drama. For me Drama is like the key element, whether it be fantasy, sci-fi, historic, or crime. :) I tend to want to watch a very emotional human saga 1,000 times XD

  11. Season 3 had issues at the beginning, they didn't handle Will and Alicia's relationship the best, and I didn't like the cases from the first half of season 3 very much. The ending run was quite strong though. Season 4 is similar. The beginning of the season has a lousy (in my opinion) Kalinda storyline that really feels like another show and it is very strange to watch, but the main storyline is great and the cases are back to being good. It focuses a lot more on office politics and all that, which is my favorite aspect of the show. The second half is then amazing once they get rid of the Kalinda's storyline and focus on the good stuff only!

  12. I think the creators want to convince us that Alicia felt so desperate to save her marriage (by getting away from Will for good), that she didn't even consider all the consequences of leaving Lockheart/Gardner before taking the decision to leave. For example, it was only when she spoke to Cary that it occurred to her that working in a smaller, start-up firm, will not allow her to take pro bono cases anymore. That's clearly an aspect of her job that she loves. She's only starting to realise what she's getting herself into - at least that's my interpretation.

Besides, the people who have helped her before in Lockheart/Gardner are Will, Diane, Kalinda and Cary. Diane wants to leave L/G anyway to be a Supreme Court judge. Despite everything Kalinda's done for Alicia, their friendship will never recover after Alicia found out she slept with Peter. The bond between them is not nearly as strong as it was in s1-2. So, all in all, Will is the one person Alicia is stabbing in the back, so to speak.

But to be honest, I also think her leaving is irrational. I just find her choice illogical:

    - If she still had strong feelings for Peter, she wouldn't need to stay away from Will.

    - Zac & Grace are now grown up, soon-to-be-university-students, so I don't see how having a relationship with Will at this point would be to the detriment of her children (which seemed to be the problem in s3 when she broke up with Will).

    - Alicia's reasoning in last season's finale for choosing Peter (again), was that she could see no way out of her commitments. That's the only rational reason for remaining Mrs. Florrick - she's now the governor's wife. If she were to divorce him, that could ruin Peter's career and she clearly doesn't want that. On the other hand, being the governor's wife has its perks - the influence and power that come along with the responsibilities. Sure, she could stay in L/G, who have always exploited her husband's connections, but as long as she remains in the firm, she would be dependant on the other partners and their decisions. In a smaller firm, where she and Cary are name partners, she would have a bigger say in how the firm is run and probably a bigger cut of the profits.

Still, I don't see any of this as good enough a reason for her to choose Peter over Will. Peter will always be possessive, jealous and will try to dominate her. Even if he never cheats on her again, I don't think they're a good fit anymore. Will has always supported her, even to his own disadvantage, so I do think she's making a mistake by betraying him.

Anyway, maybe when they're no longer co-workers they won't feel awkward about romance in the office and that will end up bringing them closer together. A girl can dream...
