I wasn't a regular viewer of this show - caught the occasional marathon or episode - but I watched this entire season and loved it. That was an amazing finale.
Nooooooooo at Maddie dying. That was so sad, but at least she went out in a badass way.
And I loved the ending! Glad they answered the question of who got custody of Charlie because I was worried about him.
Holy shit at that explosion. Shocked me!
Great end to the series! So I'm guessing Michael's been telling his story to Charlie this entire time?
OMG! so sad and great ending if you have not seen it I will not spoil any but still the ending made be happy for the good life and now spinoff with Bruce please.
hey I did not want to spoil that but that's ok I was shocked at that they just killed her off what and then I was thinking well they all had to go out with a bang and they did and lived to tell the story and I like happy ending but sad about mike's mom that was hard to see.
My eyes hurt from crying. It's been 33 minutes since it ended and I am still tearing up. Maddie noooooooo. Whyyyyyyyyy. Well at least it went out in style with a great final season. Goodbye BN.
Oh my goodness that was amazing. I totally cried at the end. I knew that they weren't really dead, but it still made me cry. The ending was fantastic and brought the whole thing full circle.
I loved how they had Sam and Fiona repeat their lines that they have in the title sequence. "Should we shoot them?"
Hard to synthesize my feelings for this finale because it is still so fresh, but they did justice to the series. In all of the moments, I think my favorite was Jesse telling Maddie that this group of people have become his family and that's why he risks everything for them. Losing his mom made him realize how important family was. However, with so many great moments, it is going to be impossible to pick a scene of the week.
When it looked like Maddie was going to die, I was yelling at the screen to keep it from happening until it was too late. At least Maddie went out like the motherly badass she was. I loved her last words "This is for my boys". Glad that Michael and Fiona had their happy ending.
Outstanding close to this awesome show that I discovered 2 seasons in, caught up and watched the rest of the way....... sooo many good tidbits in this ep with all the little callbacks to the title sequence for each character: Micheal - "I used to be a spy", Fiona - Shall we shoot them?, " Sam - "spies, a bunch of bitchy little girls, Jesse - "That's how we do it, people" clever and I loved that bringing things kinda full circle. Sad to see Maddie go, but glad she got to go on her own terms and kicking butt. really great and impressive scene between Jesse and Maddie when he said that they had become his family. So happy that Micheal and Fiona found peace (in Ireland, I'm guessing) with a Miami snow globe as a nod to Fiona's penchant for collecting those and that they are finally off the CIA's radar. Nice hint at the end for the possible spinoff of Jesse and Sam continuing their crusade of good work... Thanks Burn Notice, it was a fun and great ride that taught us all how to act like spies and to love yogurt... lol
Loved it. The callback quotes by the characters was nice. So happy Michael and Fiona are together and will raise Charlie. And it sounds like Sam and Jesse are going to continue the group's work in Miami - before they had to go on the run. Sad Maddie died, but her death was a good one at least, in that she went out for her family.
It's pretty much the best I could have hoped for. I knew someone would die, I'm just glad all my favorite characters survived and Michael and Fiona are together. Loved that ending.
It was good, but I wish the clients from previous episodes featured in a cameo watching the news or something. Also not a huge fan of the whole faking their deaths part, the pardon just made it seem a little pointless. But loved how the narrations turned out to be told to Charlie, by Michael.
Very satisfying finale. A bit predictable, but still exciting. I know they were advertising that one of the group was going to die, and when they announced it I thought either Jesse or Maddie, then when the finale neared I thought it was Michael. But somehow I became convinced, weeks ago, that it would be either Michael or Jesse, so the fact that it was Maddie... hit me right in the feels! (I hate that term but it works) Her goodbye to Michael... damn it... I'm tearing up now just thinking about it.
Other great moments: "Should we shoot them?" "You know spies, bunch of bitchy little girls." "The guy with the chin." Jesse explaining that the group was his family Explosions in general... come on it's not Burn Notice without at least 1 explosion
Again, a satisfying finale. Perhpas not the best episode throughout the run, but it left me with a good feeling and made me happy to be apart of the ride for all 7 years (still remember randomly catching the pilot when it aired).
Thank you Burn Notice for a wonderful 7 year journey and a satisfying finale. Glad that Michael and Fiona had their happy ending (away from the CIA and are now together). Very heartbreaking about Maddie, but she did it for her family and that scene showed how brave she was and that she decided to do so on her own terms. Great friendship scene after the funeral with Sam and Jesse, a definite hint that a spin-off could happen in the near future.
Best Moments from the last episode:
1) The phone scene with Michael and Maddie (very heartbreaking) 2) Micheal admits to his mom that Fi brought him back from that dark path he was taking with James and Sonya 3) Jesse and Maddie talking about family; Jesse talking about his mother and that after her death he felt alone, until he met Michael, Fi, Sam and Maddie. 4) Explosions of course 5) Michael admits that he wants to live "maybe now more than he ever had" (not sure the exact wording) 6) Michael and Fi working together at the end to kill James and his last remaining men (great team work, they trust each other so much) 7) Sam and Jesse at the funeral. Great friendship throughout the episode and the hint of a possible spin-off when Sam says that he's got a job coming up and asks Jesse if he wants to help 8) Michael and Fiona's happy ending (in Ireland?). The snow globe of Miami, and the two of them on the couch with Charlie. The kiss...beautiful ending for them and finally, they're away from the CIA for good :) 9) The quotes from the title sequence
Burn Notice will always be in my heart and I'll remember this show forever. Hope they'll make a movie one day with the team.
Great finale. Madeline going away protecting her son, CIA giving Michael a hero goodbye, Sam and Jesse in Miami fighting the good fight... Michael and Fiona together again in such a natural way, and taking Charlie to Ireland where their love begun... Bonus, now we know why Michael told this story.
I haven't even watched it yet, but my heart is already shattered to pieces. I didn't wanna believe that Maddie would die. Maybe if I don't watch it she doesn't die. Right? Nooooooooooooooooooooo... She desserve to have a quiet life for, at least, a little bit of time. Poor Maddie...
Overall, it was a nice ending, and I'll miss the show. I'm a little disappointed that they killed off Maddie. I hate it when shows feel they need to kill a popular character just to add something sad. I was expecting that Mike would be the one killed because I thought that made some sense storywise. This season, especially, was set up as a hero's journey, and it would have been a fitting ending if Mike, who had always been ready to sacrifice himself for the CIA, realized that it was his friends who had never burned him and who deserved that type of loyalty. But killing Maddie added nothing to the story other than a few tears.
I'm also a little surprised that they wrote it so that Mike was forced out of being a spy by having his picture broadcast, rather than having Mike walk away as his own choice. It lessened his growth arc a little. But I'm glad Mike and Fi ended together. I'm a little bothered that no one (from child services) is asking what happened to Charlie, and that Charlie's mother won't know if her son is alive or dead. She was a poor mother who shouldn't be raising him, but she doesn't deserve that.
But overall, excellent series and nice (but not perfect) ending.
Actually they have all repeated their lines from the title sequence. Jessie said something like "Ok, i guess that's how we do it" and Fiona say "My name is Michael Westen, I used to be a spy" for Michael. I think Maddie was the only one who didn't say her line.
That's true. It's just that Sam and Fiona's (and of course Michael's at the very end) were the most memorable and prominent for me because we've been hearing them for seven seasons.
Great finale, emotional and touching with the opening quotes throughout the episode.
The only concern I had, how did Charlie end up with Michael and Fiona without Jessie and Sam knowing where they are hiding? Are we supposing Jessie left Charlie to the couple short after the explosion day and they told him "good bye we'll let you know where we are whenever the time shall be"?
I thought the series finale was absolutely perfect! The writers of Burn Notice did an excellent job of bringing an amazing show to a comfortable conclusion after 7 years of all the ups and downs in their episodes. Kudos to them!!
I was worried about this finale after being a loyal follower of Burn Notice from season 1. Each time there was a change in the aspect of the show and it's journey, I worried that somehow it would end badly. Well, my worries are over and I couldn't think of a better ending than seeing Michael, Fiona and even little Charlie become the family that they've always deep down wanted and deserved!! To me that was the ultimate happy ending and if anyone deserves one, they do.
Sorry to see Maddie become the only casualty at the end. It did sort of make sense though and my favorite thing was how Maddie was shown to have quit smoking but at the very end we see her with her final cigarette as the bad guys walk in the door!! I've always loved her character and the grit she brought to the show.
It was nice to have Sam and Jesse assume the role of helping others in need, but I really don't see this as a spin off on USA. It's just a great way to have the idea of the show not lost in the finale. That there is still these guys doing good deeds for people in trouble with no where to turn.
I'm so glad that others mentioned the idea that this whole time we have been listening to Michael tell his story to Charlie. I never thought of that but it makes sense as Fiona tells Michael at the end how to explain things to Charlie. I love it!! That was another perfect way to weave a piece of the series episode signature moments, of Michaels voice explaining things, into a final tribute in the series finale!
So long Burn Notice....it has been quite a journey with a whole bunch of lovable characters who made each and every episode in this show something special in a world of mostly horrible television shows. I'll miss you for sure....:(
I seen it again last night and I was thinking it was really sad to see mike's mom go out like that she sacrifice herself to save that little boy and Jesse I was saying now that's how you do it and that she did for her boys and she did not have some butthead telling her No Mike tried but he knew that's not going to work so and I thinking that she is a hero and is up with Nate in a good place.
Its acually been renewed for another season! It was going tobe the end but the writers decited there was more stories to be told and are making one more season!
I have not heard anything about this on any reputable site and Jeffrey Donovan and USA Network were very clear that they were done. Where did you hear this?
I don't know if it will happen or not or if it will be a movie or an actual spin-off, but the idea that Matt Nix would like to try it and the good standing that Burn Notice had on USA makes me hopeful.
I agree... Burn Notice deserves a lot of love from the network. Ratings may have not always stayed the strongest, but the show produced 7 seasons and was a decent overall show. I remember reading many articles over the years from writers across the country that LOVED the show.
To me... Yeah, NCIS built up USA Net, but it was shows like Monk, Psych & Burn Notice transformed the channel and helped transform the cable landscape by proving Cable could produce a show and sustain a following. Now we have a number of (non-premium) cable channels produce decent TV.
As for Burn Notice... I was sold on the show all those years ago when I found out Jeff was going to star in his own show. The man had been great in a number of roles (TNT's "The Pretender" and USA's "Touching Evil") and I so badly wanted to see him finally shine. When I found out that Bruce Campbell was also going to be in it, I was hooked.
Speaking of and wrapping back around, I do hope USA gives Bruce a chance. The man isn't young, but the show was almost like a time machine for the man. He's a good actor and if "Sam Axe" doesn't work, they should really look into other projects (Brisco County Jr.!?!? Anyone? :P )
You must live in a different country where season 7 hasn't aired yet. Some countries are a few years behind. The show is done as far as we know. All items from the set have been sold and/or auctioned off and most of the buildings/sets iused are in process of being torn down.
Best season finale out of all Burn Notice's season finales. The best ending ever as my favorite couple is now together forever without the CIA or anyone else hunting for them. Matt Nix is brilliant and it shined throughout this episode. I didn't find one flaw with this eppie. It was perfect in every sense. I hope in a few years after the actors have finished their current projects, they will all come together for a movie and hopefully we will see a Sam/Jesse spinoff. (Miami, probably not). Thanks Burn Notice I am going to miss you so much. As a HUMONGOUS shipper, I am going to miss Michael and Fiona, but I rest easy knowing now that they can live the life Fiona so long wanted and one that Michael promised her in episode 610. Now they have a new journey of raising Charlie and becoming great parents. McBride suits them just fine. Farewell my friend, I will miss you.

It's hard to see a show go, when you've been following it, since the first episode aired on USA.
ReplyDeleteClosure ending. Micheal got peace at the end and the one he loved all his life He lost his mother and brother along the way, but made a new family.

ReplyDeleteDid Matt Nix do a cameo?
ReplyDeleteLOVED this episode. It had everything I loved about this show.Emotions, angst,action...
