There were a lot of bits that reminded me of Merlin (and Robin Hood to a lesser extent) too, esp the market and cave scenes and the tone character comradery in places too. I think these comparisons are inevitable but not a bad thing as it's a formula that has worked for the last 8 years in this time slot, and it has enough elements to be its own show too.
Love it.... though I'm not quite sure if the rest of the series going to be a mix of stories from greek mythology. Gonna watch it anyway, love the trio, esp Jason <3
Tuned in and in truth enjoyed more than I thought I would. If you can put aside the loose play on the mythology and enjoy it for what it is then it is a decent fun show.
Well it certainly did not "Wow" me, but it was quite fun at times. ) The lead actor who plays Jason reminds me of a young Peter Wingfield (Highlander The Seires http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/10/Peter_Wingfield_20100701_Japan_Expo_1.jpg ). I do have some issue with how naive or stupid the lead character is supposed to be. Can he not puzzle out the only vaguely hidden mystery of his life?
It's always fun to see Mark Addy play ... well, Marc Addy. XD
I guess it reminds me of a lower budget Sinbad with a bit more "Nudge, nudge... Wink, wink" humor mixed in. I'm not sure I will be watching week to week unless it improves, but I think it is one of those series I could watch in marathon form late at night or if I'm not feeling well etc..
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Great Saturday night TV, really enjoyed it!
ReplyDeletegood job :)
ReplyDeleteepisode title: The Earth Bull :)
it was great.... it's a lot like merlin, with the serious and the funny moments.... I think it is going to be a succes...

ReplyDeleteIt is also similar in tone to Xena and Hercules. If people in America watch it with that expectation, they will probably enjoy it.
