Set in New Orleans, the potential spinoff is executive produced by NCIS star/executive producer Mark Harmon and executive producer showrunner Gary Glasberg. The character-driven project, written by Glasberg and produced by CBS Studios, centers on the the NCIS New Orleans office which handles cases from Pensacola through Mississippi and Louisiana to the Texas panhandle. New Orleans was picked as a backdrop for the show because of its pedigree as a rich setting of music, fun and debauchery that makes it a magnet for military personnel on-leave. And with fun comes trouble.

Not sure how I feel about another spin-off, but I like that Mark and Gary are involved. And it sounds interesting.
ReplyDelete...okay? Not sure what to think about it.
ReplyDeleteYeah because that is what we need. ANOTHER spin off.
ReplyDeleteAfter all it's not like NCIS was a spin off or that it has another spin off...
Oh wait...
A spin-off of a spin-off that has a spin-off. Wow CBS your imagination is truly outstanding.
ReplyDeleteAt least it's not another spin-off of a spin-off of a spin-off.
ReplyDeleteI actually would have watched NCIS: Red, though, tbh.
Try,try again.
ReplyDeleteIt's a spin off of a spin off that already has a spin off.
ReplyDeletewell i cannot blame CBS for it but i can blame the 17 ml people who still watch NCIS adter 10 years of no progress or development of their characters
ReplyDeleteI know, but it's not that bad.
ReplyDeleteI don't think NCIS become oversaturated like CSI is good.
ReplyDeleteNot sure how I feel about another spin-off. Shane Brennan tried that with NCIS: Red and that failed. BUT, this does look interesting and Mark Harmon is at the helm so I will likely watch it should it get picked up.
ReplyDeleteWell, if they made Simon Donovan Gibbs' twin brother who worked in the Secret Service, went back in time to the Bartlet administration years, managed to get Allison Janney on board, then I might be interested. Otherwise... another spin-off? JFC.
ReplyDeleteSo many spin offs... confusing.
ReplyDeleteToo little info for me to have an opinion about it, but I'll probably end up not watching it.
Yeah because there aren't enough procedurals out there..and worse a spin-off. Come on, give it a rest.
ReplyDeleteIt's a franchise which has spanned more than 15 years, aired many hundreds of episodes across several series, and continues to rate higher than almost anything else on television in the US. It's easy, and popular, to syndicate to other networks in the US and around the world. CBS know the production crew well and they know what to expect, as do a long serving, loyal fanbase, and advertisers. Harmon and Glasberg, and CBS, will also be looking to continue the series after the original NCIS wraps up.
ReplyDeleteI call that a sound business decision. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Ha! Just what every spin-off needs...to spin off multiple shows itself. More power to NCIS though because it is a ratings monster. Who wouldn't want to capitalize on that? Plus NCIS: LA is entertaining so it's not like they suck at spin-offs.
ReplyDeleteI don't think they need another spin off but maybe it will work.
ReplyDeleteWith "NCIS:Red", it was a spinoff, of a spinoff of a spinoff (JAG->NCIS-NCIS:LA->NCIS:Red)
ReplyDeleteI think this project may have greater potential since it's 1 spinoff "less" (JAG->NCIS->New). With NCIS going into it's 11th year, I think it might be natural for the cast and crew to be considering the end of the show at some point. I'd like to hope a potential successor to NCIS retains one or more of the NCIS characters. Maybe DiNozzo finally get's his own team?
They can try, they certainly are doing it ¬.¬
ReplyDeleteHow many times until they realize that to recreate NCIS success they're missing a certain Bellisario? >.< I think Brennan got "lucky" with NCIS LA; still, there's something missing in that series.
Personally I want JAG back with Harm as the Admiral!
ReplyDeleteso hopefully they don't call it NCIS New Orleans...as that will be shortened to NCIS: NO...which will probably be everyones feelings about it after one episode...
ReplyDeleteUpvote for being clever. You made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteHahahahahahaha, that was a genius comment. You win the Internet!
ReplyDeleteI was looking forward to watching NCIS: Red. I have very little interest in this.
ReplyDeleteNCIS LA is a much more action packed show than NCIS, and that's what interested me in Red because it would've been the same kind of show. This doesn't sound all that great.
Not seeing great future for this one. NCIS RED didn't happen not because it was a spin-off of a spin-off but because i wasn't needed. I get that they want to continue the story and the stories of NCIS but more spin-offs just doesn't interest of the viewer the way they think.
ReplyDeleteI too came to NCIS after it had been on a few years. I was an avid JAG fan, but NCIS didn't catch my eye until it started rerunning on USA; then I caught up and caught on. NCIS:LA I want to like - even love, but do not. It is a weak imitation of the original and mostly unpalatable. Shane Brennan wastes extraordinary character moment and instead relies on the simple and vacuous, Kensi and Deeks nonsense and Hetty being the wizard of, well, everything. NCIS Red was atrocious. Thank you, CBS, for not giving it a go! However, this one may be good. Mark Harmon is very aware of what works and what doesn't. The show has vastly improved once he took greater control. Also, it is said he is most gracious to everyone on the set, often taking guest actors and touring them around and introducing them to make them comfortable. I think with the right creators, Glasberg and Harmon, there is a chance this NCIS spinoff might actually have some quality. I'll give it a shot if nothing else.
ReplyDeleteThis is why there's literally nothing I can watch on CBS. The dramas are all procedural, unimaginative, carbon-copies of other successes. Sure it pleases the masses, but damn. 3 hours a week on the schedule dedicated to ONE franchise (and not a good one. sorry) is just ridiculous. If you're excited for this... ugh... well hope you enjoy lol
ReplyDeletebut that's why they keep making it, because they are money machines and they can use a ricycled idea over and over again... money vs originality who do you think will win xD?
ReplyDeletethey should do another JAG like series that was gold
ReplyDeleteI don't necessarily need another spin-off, but I will watch it if it's NCIS :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, with Harmon's involvement the show will be fine.
Off-side note: Joe Spano and/or Diane Neal should star in this!
Also off-side: I would love Mark Harmon to write and/or direct an episode of NCIS.
