NBC is getting into the Katherine Heigl business.
The network has landed a CIA drama with the former Grey's Anatomy star attached, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The untitled CIA project is being developed at Universal Television with Alexi Hawley (The Following) on board to pen the script and executive produce. Heigl will star and exec produce alongside Robert Simonds, her mother/manager, Nancy Heigl, Hawley, Henry Crumpton, Rodney Faraon and Julia Franz.
The drama, described as Scandal meets The West Wing, revolves around a maverick CIA officer (Heigl) who was plucked from the field to become the president's daily briefer, assuming responsibility for targeting America's most critical threats while navigating the unique lifestyle that comes with such a high-powered job.

This one sounds really good and I hope it gets picked up!
ReplyDeleteAccording to deadline, it got a put pilot commitment.
ReplyDeleteThis is either gonna be good or pure shite, nothing in between...
ReplyDeleteI am an absolute sucker for espionage series, but this sounds like a pass to me.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure Heigl has the gravitas needed to anchor a series frankly, and the premise sounds so bland to me.
I will check out trailers and decide more then, but I'm not excited for this in any way.
Put me down for $50 on "Pure Shite"....
ReplyDeleteThis sounds pretty interesting to me. I'll be sure to check it out if it gets to air at some point.
ReplyDeletei dont really see Katherine in this type of show e.e
ReplyDeleteWhenever anyone describes something as "blah blah blah meets The West Wing", I immediately loose any confidence whatsoever. DO NOT compare anything to TWW because, honestly, it just won't live up to expectations.
ReplyDeleteIs this supposed to be 'drama lands at NBC' not NCIS... I got slightly confused :)
ReplyDeleteExactly. Describing sth as "Show A meets show B" is already pretty lame, but comparing sth with Katherine Heigl to TWW? Come on!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you. I had previously made similar statements when this project was still being shopped around. This potential series would have too look really damn good and with a stellar supporting cast to boot if I were to even consider giving it a chance.
ReplyDeleteWait, her mother is her manager? Oh, poor thing...
