After eight seasons, viewers finally met the mother. Now, in the final season of CBS’ How I Met Your Mother (Monday, Sept. 23, 8 p.m. ET/PT), future father Ted (Josh Radnor) will make the pleasure of her acquaintance.
The season, which will be framed by the wedding weekend of Robin (Cobie Smulders) and Barney (Neil Patrick Harris), “feels both different and still very much still like How I Met Your Mother,” Radnor says.
Co-creator Carter Bays says viewers will learn much about the characters, who head toward the nuptials with their own issues.
“It’s going to be more than just a wedding weekend. There’s a lot of flashing forward, a lot of flashing back. We’ll be seeing a great deal of story that takes place before this wedding and a great deal of story that takes place after.”
“There will be some paths crossing,” and the possibility that some of Ted’s friends may have met the woman earlier, Bays says. “We’ll see some surprising moments from her past.”
