In a new USA Today article, it says that a lead character will be killed off. The article and also contains a few other spoilers for Season 3.
- A lead character will be killed off, at some point. And it sounds like Brody is the likely candidate. "I don't think Brody's going to go soon, but I think that once that story stops producing fruit, we're not going to keep it around," says Gansa. "It's inevitable and it also keeps the show fresh. So we'll see."
Lewis hints at it, too. "Brody feels like someone who could die at any moment. I wake up in the morning wondering if I'm still Brody. Make a quick phone call: Am I still Brody today?" He laughs, and adds, "I didn't expect him to survive more than two seasons. I think maybe the success of the show has altered one or two things and, um, so I feel like I'm living on grace at the moment."

It´s not going to be Brody. Just a red herring, the way the Dexter promos were indicating, he would die.
ReplyDeleteNO WAY!! Brody is my favorite character, if he's killed off, I don't want to watch this show anymore.
ReplyDeleteHow Could They Kill Off Brody He Makes The Show What It Is.
ReplyDeleteBrody should go IMO or at least not be in S4 for whatever reason, I love what Lewis has done with the character but they shouldn't keep with a character if the story demands something newer.
ReplyDeleteThey can't afford to kill Carrie , she's their meal ticket ...then it will be saul or brody
ReplyDeleteExactly. Take GoT for example. One of the good things about the show is that some (very many) main characters get killed off in order for the story to be told. Martin never keeps them around just because. I honestly don't understand why people would prefer having a character in the show if that character is dead weight.
ReplyDeleteAfter S1 I was happy they didn't kill Brody off, because I liked him and his storyline. But after S2 I'm ready for him to die- his storyline has exhausted itself, his romance with Carrie is bringing her character down and his family annoy me. I'm ready for him to be killed off and for the story to go somewhere new with new characters and new Homeland threats.
ReplyDeleteI think they should kill off Brody. At least at the end of season 3. The Carrie - Brody thing has run its course, it's time for a new storyline, after all, the show is called 'Homeland', and not 'Whatever the hell Carrie and Brody's relationship is'.
ReplyDeleteIf Brody leaves the show - I'm quite sure a lot of viewers will leave as well!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think that would be the obvious choice. I don't know much about the story of this season yet but he doesn't seem central to the story anymore. He doesn't even show up for a couple of episodes when the season begins I think.
ReplyDeleteEven Damian Lewis more or less thinks Brody should be killed off. I understand why viewers like the Brody character but I fail to see a plausible way for the character to remain on the show as anything but Carrie's husband or love interest, unless the writers are going to make Brody guilty of the CIA bombing.
ReplyDeleteout of the big 3 leads (Saul, Carrie, and Brody) i think that it makes the most sense if Brody is the one that dies and then there is the aftermath after that to essentially close the series as I'm not sure if this show was intended to run for more than a handful of seasons. I love the arc of his story so far, but it seems the plausibility of his demise makes the most sense.
ReplyDeleteI've been waiting for Brody to be killed since Season 1!
ReplyDeleteThat said, my gut tells me it will be Saul. Maybe something to do with his wife....
I thought about that too, but wasn't sure Mike was a "lead character" exactly.....
ReplyDeleteThey talk so much in interviews about killing Brody off, it would be a bit of a copout if it didn't happen now. There's only so long they can string the whole unpredictable 'Brody could die at any time' thing.
ReplyDeleteI kind of hope it is Brody, just to see how the show would fare without him. As long as Carrie and Saul are still there, so will I.
Brody needed to be killed off last season.I love him but the this storyline shouldn't of been kept alive this long.
ReplyDeletekill Brody, kill my link to your show. I wouldn't be able to handle watching Carrie do more of what she did in season 3 episode 1 without Brody around anymore. love the show, love Saul, Brody, Quinn too he became a likable guy, but I would not continue to watch Carrie at the center be the train wreck queen.
ReplyDeletewell he can kill of many main characters, because he has what seems like over 9000 main characters and each with a reasonable purpose so it doesn't matter if several or more are killed off as the others will take the spot via and interline the story.
ReplyDeleteI like Brody, I enjoy the depth of the character very much, that goes for Dana too, I would like to keep seeing that but I guess the writers that pulled that off must be very good at their jobs and, therefore, I trust their decitions.
ReplyDeleteare we sure we would have liked homeland 2 if they killed brody in season2? in the good or in the worse brody makes "feel" the show...love him or hate him, it s all there for me..btw I hope that showrunner will be able to keep him always on the edge of eveil and good, so we can talk about Homeland...I wouldnt like a show where good guys some way get cought bad guys only...I'd like the idea to keep brody til the end putting his caracther always on that edge...I think it's easier to kill a carachter than make a great carachter keep on making the show...
ReplyDeleteCharacters are not irrelevant nor replaceable, unless you're referring to something very badly written. Every single death in GoT has a purpose and I believe that is what should apply to Homeland (or any other story). I don't think any character SHOULD be killed just for the fun of it, I believe they should be killed if it is what's right for the story. In my understanding (and I do know a lot of people disagree with me) the story is more important than the individuals. As much as I love one of them, if they are killed for good reasons, I'm not complaining. I mean, look at The Sopranos. One of the highest killing rates in TV history, and probably the best show ever written.
ReplyDeleteI hope it's Brody. He's past his use-by-date.
ReplyDeletekill brody = kill the show
ReplyDeleteWait, there were some gossips indicating that Claire Danes wants to leave the show because she has become a mother. So, why isn't it about Carrie?
