Following last season's brutally violent Red Wedding, HBO's Game of Thrones will present another colorful — and potentially tragic — marriage ceremony when Season 4 premieres in spring 2014.
"It's going to be the wedding of the year, and as memorable in its own way as our wedding last season," promises the books' author, George R.R. Martin, of the marriage of King Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson) and Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer). "It's what the fans call the Purple Wedding, based on the color of the wine, which plays a big part."
Martin says the wedding scenes "look spectacular. The bride's dress incorporates roses, there are 77 courses at the dinner feast, and there's some wonderful halftime entertainment."

I'M SCARED
ReplyDeleteHa, should be epic! Can't wait to see it on screen..... even if I do know what's coming.
ReplyDeleteThey make it sound like it will be in the first episode or two, which is great, exactly what I wanted. Season 4 will be the best yet with the wedding and the battles. I'm so excited.
ReplyDeleteThink I can speak for all of the book readers when I say..... :D WOHOOO! Karma!
ReplyDeleteThis is the moment I've been waiting for for 3 seasons! :D
ReplyDeleteActually my favourite of all the weddings, fandom will explode again!
ReplyDeleteive been waiting for this moment ever since the show was first announced to be in development!
ReplyDeleteI would love it to be in the premiere ideally just because what a way to announce a new season!
ReplyDeleteIn the premiere episode? Or am I reading that wrong?
ReplyDeleteThis one I definitely liked better! Can't wait, hope it will be in the beginning of next season.
ReplyDeleteThere will be more than one wedding in Season 4 honestly, but none will have impact like the Purple Wedding.
ReplyDeleteRe: The placement of the wedding in the season...
I'm not sure I read it as happening in Season 4.01 myself. "Following" is somewhat vague and the article did not say "immediately following" Season 3. There is some necessary story set up before the wedding happens. I still think that there will be at least 1 or 2 episodes before the wedding maybe as many as 3 or 4.
Oh, yes, Joffrey's wedding--Can't wait to see that one!!! And I know what's coming too....
ReplyDeleteTrue, but "will present" and "when Season 4 premieres in spring 2014." really seems to indicate in the beginning.
ReplyDeleteI will definitely enjoy this wedding, but I'm looking forward to the season finale already. THAT will be epic.
ReplyDeleteI think many many many people will enjoy this wedding!
ReplyDeleteA Leaked call sheet showed the wedding will be 4.02. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Nick, do you have a link to the call sheet?
ReplyDeleteHere is a photo of the purported leaked call sheet..I never saw a source, but it looks fairly legit. Who knows if it was the most recent call sheet though....
ReplyDeleteMy main question was about how much of the PW will be in Episode 4.02.. It could stretch over multiple episodes depending on how they cut it. My guess is the wedding ceremony and dinner/entertainment will happen in one episode and the dinner's aftermath will happen in the following episode. There is a good deal going on in the wedding and it appears they are adding even more scenes not in the books.
Plus there were a number of episodes that had scenes shifted from one episode to another last year. That could happen again....
Thanks, nice one.
ReplyDeleteoh GOD! killing is cominga
ReplyDeleteImagine if the producers change it so that the events that ought to take place don't and others unfold in stead. i say this cause Jaime came to king's landing earlier than in the books, and his absence is pivotal to what occurs at the purple wedding.
ReplyDeletei didnt mention any spoilers for the fans who haven't read the books
ReplyDeleteLook on the bright side: Jaime actually has the chance to bring Brienne as a date for this one.
ReplyDeleteDid you vote for GOT in favourite tv show contests?
ReplyDeleteWhat contest?

ReplyDeleteSo long Joffrey
ReplyDeleteIs there going to be a wedding in every season?
ReplyDeleteMost likely yes...at least in the next couple seasons.
ReplyDeleteMarriages are equivalent to political alliances or power merges in Westeros, so the power players are always trying to consolidate power by marrying one House or another.
