I really, really, really hope they never get together. They have the best friendship in the world. Watching them as partners and friends is so enjoyable. Seeing them ruin that with relationship angst would just wreck the show for me. But I can still see why people ship them. Amazing chemistry.
This version of Mycroft is very curious, i am intrigued. Are they going to have him exhibit the same intellect as Sherlock, as in the books and other TV series'? I'd quite like them to, i like the idea of two highly intelligent brothers but Sherlock being the one cursed with anti-social tendencies and a self-destructive drive.
Up against a 2hr Grey's premiere it probably won't do big numbers and next week it'll have Scandal's premiere to deal with. If Elementary can manage to not lose any ground on its own numbers from last season I'd be willing to call that a win.
As an avid fan of the books, I hope as well that's going to happen. I liked it already that they referred to the fact that Mycroft lost a lot of weight. That was my first reaction when I saw him - that Mycroft should be fat. Just like Holmes' comment about Lestrade hogging the limelight is book canon. It's one of the reason why I love this show, their attention to such details.
So true - i do love the nods to book canon too, it really makes you feel as if you are watching a series where the creators very much care about the characters and stories they are playing with, and will pay them all due respect. And when that is established, it's a delight to see them add their own twist to everything.
I admit the one character i miss in his original form is Moriarty - i love that crabby old criminal. Did you ever watch the Russian TV version? Moriarty in that was stunning!!
I was a bit skeptical at first about a female Watson, but Lucy Liu won me over in no time. Perfect casting. I wasn't so much on board with how Moriarty was portrayed. I thought she seemed a bit young. No, I never saw the Russian TV version. I would like to, if I can find it somewhere with subtitles. Actually, in my opinion Jared Harris in the movie did a really good job. But then I adored him in Fringe as well. Such an amazing villain.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Oh man, I could watch Watson just drink tea all day.
ReplyDeleteThis show is the greatest thing on TV. I don't understand why it's not a ratings juggernaut. How do we think it'll do tonight?
ReplyDeleteAlso, they are completely married.
ReplyDeleteI loved Sherlock's impression on Mycroft.
ReplyDeleteI hate it that even though they said there's never gonna be anything between Sherlock and Joan I can't help it and I still ship them
