A spokesperson for The CW would not say in what form Malcolm, who in the finale was last seen having an arrow thrust through his chest by The Hood, will ultimately resurface — in a dream (OK, nightmare) sequence, flashback, as a “ghost” or in the big, bad flesh — but sources tell TVLine the character will appear in at least two episodes.

My guess? Flashbacks.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping he appears in more than 2 episodes.
Yep, tptb already said that since they had so many flasbacks it was quite possible both him and Tommy could be back. So yes, flashback it is,
ReplyDeleteI hope so. As much as I love Barrowman, I think having Malcolm Merlyn survive as a villain would hold the show back. Arrow has so much narrative momentum heading into Season 2, and Barrowman really did go out on top. Having him be the Big Bad for too long could lead to a Red John situation.
ReplyDeleteFinally, thank you! I thought I was the only one thinking like this. A show is much more satisfying when we know that the hero is able to get rid of the bad guys for good. And it's always good to see new villains rather than an old one crawling back in. It's tiring.
ReplyDeleteITA. Funny thing with me is that going into the finalle, I was really hoping they wouldn't kill him off just yet, but afterwards I realized it was the best way for him to go, you know, with a bang, so to speak.
ReplyDeleteHis ending was what I was hoping for Big Jim in Under The Dome, but he will probably turn into a Red John, reason why I sotped watching The Mentalist after Jane killed that man thinking he was red John.
Enemies or antiheroes are not meant to be larger tan life if you want to keep thing realistic, and that's what I like about Arrow, so yeah, hopefully they don't go back on their word.
Yeah, that's part of the fun of this kind of genre show. Buffy especially comes to mind: every season (besides season 4) has a new, bigger Big Bad that thematically builds on the previous season but still provides a fresh spin on things. Given all the villains they have planned for Season 2, I'm really looking forward to seeing what's new. Barrowman is absolutely welcome to return because he's amazing, but the show should and will move on to new things.
ReplyDeleteI knew it. Knew it had to be either or. i'm thinking flashback and dream sequence.
ReplyDeleteUnlike most of the fandom, this does NOT make me happy. I thought Barrowman played Merlyn way over the top so he became even more cartoonish than the writing suggested he would be. I do hope that they keep him dead and that he is only in flashbacks. Maybe part of Moira's testimony in the trial.
ReplyDeleteTommy back? Well hallelujah for that one. He's the only dead person I want to see in flashbacks or ghost form.
ReplyDeleteI also hope Malcolm does not return. That sets a very bad precedent of death meaning nothing on the show, a plot device that has hurt Supernatural more than it has ever helped it.
ReplyDeletePlus then it doesn't feel like changing the plot to pander to fans which never works for a show's benefit.
ReplyDeleteWell, they said that since they are a show that do flashbacks, the door was always open.
ReplyDeleteI'm keeping my fingers crossed, lol.
I wouldn't mind a 2 for 1 deal, lol.
ReplyDeleteIt would be fun, lol, but I don't really see it happening. Besides, I want to see playboy Tommy. We heard a lot about him, but we never really got to meet him. We already met douche Ollie, now it's time to meet his sidekick of times past.
ReplyDeleteHa! That would work for me as well. Julia can step up to be the bad guy then and I can start rooting more for her death.
ReplyDeleteI am all for flashback Tommy as long as he still gets to be snarky. He may be the character I most miss from the 2012-2013 TV season.
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm not Julia's biggest fan, it I'm not rooting for her death just yet. Maybe now that she's the monarch she will become a better character. If she doesn't ecome more entertaining soon I just may join you, lol.
ReplyDeleteMy hit list on Under the Dome goes: Junior, Angie, Julia, (big gap) Evil Jim. However Linda is rapidly moving up the list. She might end next to Junior but I don't think anyone will ever surpass him. He's wretched.
