TVLine has learned exclusively that Kim Raver is nearing a deal to reprise her role as Kiefer Sutherland’s former onscreen love in Fox’s 12-episode event series 24: Live Another Day.
I have never liked her. I hate that they killed off Renee! She was so much better than Audrey!! If they do bring her back, hopefully they'll bring back her father too as Sec Of Defense. He was good in that role.
I'm not against that return, but the writers have to remain realistic in their approach :
- Audrey can't be in perfect shape because it's convenient. She was basically braindead in Day 6.
- This season will take place outside the US. Why would a brain dead person (or at least still very fragile person) like Audrey be far from their home ? Then I guess Audrey got married and she's living with someone, but... how? I mean, it's too easy to say that she recovered completely, but it's the only way that she isn't with her father in his L.A home near the ocean. It's just too easy.
- I can't imagine her getting back together with Jack. If the 24 world, it's been 10-11 years since he "let her go." Has she been waiting for him since? No, of course not, she's got to be with someone taking care of her (because, again, you can't forget her brain's basically fried).
So all in all, I'm thinking Audrey is in a mental institute in the British countryside.
I'm not glad or pissed she's back, she was great in seasons 4-6, but I hope it's just a return for the sake of having returning characters (and so few of them aren't dead). Because this might ruin their farewell scene in episode 6.24 :
"Hey. It's me, I'm here....I know that I promised...to take care of you...and protect you....But I'm at a crossroads. Right now, the best way...the only way...to do that is to let you go. I hope one day you can understand that...I hope one day you can forgive me. I love you with all my heart. And I always will."
I don't get the Jack/Renee love. They weren't happy-- they were into facilitating each other's miserableness. That mirror they couldn't look into during sex? More than symbolic, if you ask me.
Why does Jack need a woman in the first place? I forget why we're so worried about his love life after he's endangered his daughter, his son-in-law, his granddaughter, and gotten Chloe arrested. He needs redemption before a lover.
In all fairness, Audrey was last seen on Day 6. They've reported that Live Another Day will jump three to four years from Day 8. This means a *lot* of time has passed since we last saw Audrey. There were four years between Days 6 & 7 and a little over a year between 7 & 8. This means that, come Live Another Day, it will be eight to nine years since we last saw Audrey. A lot can happen in that time.
The other potential is that Audrey's husband, Paul, was English. Since they were estranged and not divorced when he died, Audrey would have gotten his money/land/what have you and Paul was very wealthy. It's probable that he had a place in England and Live Another Day is supposed to at least partially take place in London.
For all we know, Jack's been with Audrey for the last three to four years.
Sorry, I didn't see the bit where you did the math as well. I think you're right-- there could be someone else. She could just be helping Jack, at least at the start.
And considering she probably knew all about Alan Wilson and all of that? Really bad decision, Jack. Like, really bad. You took away a lot of hotness with that call. Michelle is displeased.
We can't overlook the events of season 8. Imo, Jack can't possibly be out in the open. He's considered a terrorist by both the US and Russian governments, it's going to take a pretty big event to get him out of hiding — which is basically the plot of season 5, I know, let's hope they still manage to surprise us.
So Jack can't be with Audrey before Day 9, and I hope he won't be after. She might have recovered a bit but she can't possibly have become the person she was before she was captured by the Chinese. So, imo, she's in a mental institution, and Jack is paying her a visit because her past connexions can help him with the events occurring that day.
And then Audrey would stay with him throughout the day and appear in a recurring capacity, obviously, but she can't be the typical "romantic interest" is what I'm saying. Jack will be extremely careful with her, and care a lot about her because he loves her, but them being a couple, given how we've last seen her and how credible it would be for her to have fully recovered from her brain trauma, I don't see it.
But good thinking about Paul being British and leaving her with something given that their divorce had not been finalized — I'm assuming the UK, you're saying London, but nothing's been 100% confirmed. Still though, if she's fully functional, it's like the events of season 6 never happened and even if it's not 24's greatest season, I'd prefer the writers not to forget what they did simply because it's easier to have a walking/talking/romantic interest for the main character.
I completely agree with you. In a perfect TV show, the writers would realize that Jack has too much to atone, to bother himself with a love interest, and they would focus on those stories instead. Unfortunately, it seems they feel that if main character doesn't have a love interest, the storyline isn't complete. All we can do is hope they remain realistic, after all she cathatonic the last time we saw her.
I was never a fan of her character on 24, even though I loved the ending of day 6 between her dad and Jack, it was very powerful. I guess for me it all depends on how they bring her in and what they do with her.
I wish they'd bring back Tony somehow, they really screwed his character over by bringing him back from the dead and then making him a villain. I also hope we at least k\get an update on Kim, if we don't see her- she'll always be important to Jack.
That's interesting! And kudos to you, Babar, for spelling the name of the series right, it really bugs me how people here refuse to call it what it is...
I don't think she brought him down at all. She was almost as good of an agent as he was. They would have made a hell of a kick ass team in the last part of Day 8 if the writers hadn't been so stupid and killed her off like they did.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeletei loved jack and audrey together..before renee came along and she took audrey's place for my affection in jack's happiness..i'll see tho how it goes
ReplyDeletehated mr keller with a passion
ReplyDeleteWell, since Renee is out of the question, Audrey will have to do.
ReplyDeleteDoes that mean Julia is dead?
Yikes. I'd bring back the cougar that stalked Kim Bauer before bringing Audrey back.
ReplyDeleteI'm not against that return, but the writers have to remain realistic in their approach :

Renee was self-absorbed and unstable. She just brought Jack down. I'm not a huge Audrey fan but at least she had some sense of purpose about her.
ReplyDeleteI love Mr. Heller. Just slimy enough. :)

Renee was HOT. Lol.
ReplyDeleteOh, well, if we're going by that criteria, I miss Nina. lol :)
ReplyDeleteSorry, I didn't see the bit where you did the math as well. I think you're right-- there could be someone else. She could just be helping Jack, at least at the start.
ReplyDeleteNow just get me Elisha Cuthbert and Mia Kirshner and I'm in.
ReplyDelete*agrees*
ReplyDeleteI second that. Lol. Jack just HAD to shoot her. Lmao.

I just cant wait for this show to be back!
ReplyDeleteMia Kirshner and Carlos Bernard please. Oh and Glenn Morshower too!
wooooohooooyeah baby!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad. Their story had such a painful ending, hopefully Audrey feels much better after these 9 (?) years and we'll get to see more of her.

ReplyDeleteI think it´s very promising, that they are trying to wrap up loose ends, so I´m definitely in.
ReplyDeleteExcited, I'm still pining for Jack's happily ever after! :)

ReplyDeleteYay. I hope she returns. For me, she's the one for Jack. Always and forever.
