HuffPost TV has learned exclusively that "Supernatural" actor Mark Sheppard will appear in a substantial arc on "White Collar's" upcoming season.
Sheppard will appear in seven of "White Collar's" Season 5 episodes, reprising the role he played in the USA drama's pilot four years ago. In that debut episode, his character, Curtis Hagen, a shady art forger nicknamed "The Dutchman," was apprehended by Peter Burke (Tim DeKay) and sent to prison.
"It's such a gift to be able to revisit a character like Hagen," Sheppard told HuffPost TV. "It's so much fun to come back after four years and stir the pot a little."
"White Collar" Season 5 sees Neal Caffrey (Matt Bomer) strike a deal with Hagen in order to help Peter, who took the fall for the shooting of a senator at the end of Season 4. But the kinds of demands that Hagen makes of Neal could lead Neal back to his old life as a criminal and con man.
As if that weren't enough, the actor (whose long and varied resume includes stints on "Doctor Who," "Battlestar Galactica" and "Chuck" in recent years) is set to return to Syfy's "Warehouse 13" as well. HuffPostTV has learned that his character, Benedict Valda, will be in all six episodes of that show's final season, which arrives in June 2014.

Damn, Mark - White Collar, SPN, and Warehouse 13? I'm surprised he isn't exhausted or something.
ReplyDeleteExcited for him on all three shows!
At this rate, it'd almost be easier to list Mark Sheppard as a feature in and of himself and then make the news updates be which shows are using him this month.
ReplyDeletelooks like he wont be in much of supernatural season 9 if hes already doing two other shows. I cant see Crowley appearing in more than 3 episodes this season.
ReplyDeleteFrom the source:
ReplyDelete"Supernatural" fans may worry that Sheppard's demon character, Crowley, will be
missing in action if the actor is working on another show, but never fear -- the CW drama spends "a lot of time" with Crowley, at least in the early part of Season 9.
He's everywhere! Yay, Mark! :)
ReplyDeleteWoo Hoo! This just makes me happy, for both shows.
ReplyDeleteI believe White Collar started filming 3 months ago. So it's possible he is filmed all is stuff or maybe close to finishing his scenes.
ReplyDeleteSays Warehouse 13 returns June 2014 and is 6 episodes. So it is possible that won't start filming until early 2014 and I assume all episodes will be written before filming begins. So if there is a stipulation in his Supernatural contract (I assume he has one seeing how he did the rounds at Comic Con for them) that gives them first right then maybe he will film his Warehouse 13 scenes around Supernatural. It's quite possible Warehouse 13 could just bring him in for 2 weeks and shoot all his stuff for the season. Maybe those 2 weeks would be when Supernatural is on break from filming.
Warehouse 13 started filming again in July (I think) and they're in Canada, too. Possibly also Vancouver, so it's definitely possible to be filming both shows at once.
ReplyDeleteBest news of all. Mark Sheppard returning to White Collar was in my top 10 TV wish list. Exciting to see how he is going to be used on a recurring level with this plan. Also super excited to see that he will be on all the remaining Warehouse 13 episodes. Makes me even more excited for its final season. Mark Sheppard makes EVERY show better. Someone really ought to give this guy his own show.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea. Mark Sheppard definitely gets around on TV shows. I love to know where he appears but he is so busy I sometimes miss something.
ReplyDeleteWell if that is already filming and Crowley is getting a good amount of screen time in the early part of Season 9. Then it really is a non-issue. He probably has to work other stuff around Supernatural.
ReplyDeleteIf it's one actor whom I'm definitely not surprised would headline a post with a double casting announcement, it's Mark Sheppard.
ReplyDeleteWait a minute...isn't Valda dead?
ReplyDeleteI thought Neal was gonna lose the anklet and become the top "suit" but I guess he's going back to crime at least for a while.
ReplyDeleteGREAT NEWS!! I love that they are revisiting one of the earliest criminals. Mark S. is so good. This takes the STING out of hearing there will only be 13 episodes in S5. Thanks WC writers and Jeff Eastin for bringing Curtis Hagen back. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm salivating here! BEST NEWS EVER about season five. If they mean that with going back to the roots, I'm all for it!
ReplyDeleteActually I believe Warehouse 13 is in Toronto...
ReplyDeleteHe is everywhere.... and that is never a bad thing!
ReplyDeleteAww I see, so it could work out. tbh I kinda wouldn't mind him appearing in as little as 4 episodes, thats how they used Meg, and villains I like not being seen so often anyways.
ReplyDeleteIn episode Buried of series 2 he sacrificed himself while the group were trying to shut down Warehouse 2. How did he survive? I would say the Phoenix, but then one of the group would have died in his place... Maybe it's flashbacks to series one and two, but scenes that we haven't seen?
ReplyDeleteI'm inclined to go with the flashback theory, but perhaps he's some kind of ghost.
ReplyDeleteWarehouse 13 not returning for final season for another year? That kind of scheduling is why the show lost momentum.
ReplyDeleteWhy just give him his own show when he can appear on ALL the shows! :)
