Thanks to The Spoiler Fairy for sending us the following..

According to audition videos for Vikings season 2 (episode not specified), Athelstan travels to England and during a dinner with King Eckbert he meets a princess from Mersea who is very interested in the Vikings’ sexual customs. The princess invites King Eckbert to her bed chamber, but he doesn’t satisfy her, so she asks him about both Athelstan and Eckbert’s son, but the king says he’ll send in some of his warriors to see to her needs.

  1. Just a note: I may have spelled the princess' kingdom incorrectly. I wasn't sure if it was "Mercia" or "Mersea" or some other spelling. :)

  2. Athelstan travelling to England? Is he free and travelling alone? I enjoyed his earlier storyline on the show, but around episode 6 he became mostly a background character and transitioned way too fast- most of his later character development was off screen.

  3. I agree...his journey is by far the most interesting one, and the show gets immediately more boring when he is put into the background. I'm also a little bit tired of Ragnar being able to poke holes into his religion, but Athelstan's view on the Vikings rites mostly boils down to quiet fascination unless someone dies.
