Back in first season, I really liked her with Daniel, for a moment (like few last episodes of s1) - with Jack. In season 2 - with Aiden. But right now, I don't even know. I have a problem with all of these connections.
Well it's still early but I'm glad not so many people are choosing Daniel. Good chemistry between Emily and Daniel isn't everything. In every other way they're horrible for each other, and Daniel becomes more arrogant every season. Every time he seems to become a little more tolerable, he does something way worse that makes him an asshole.
I love her with Daniel (can't explain why), but besides him the only one I'd still be happy with happening is Jack. Not Nolan because I feel like they have more of a brother-sister relationship, and definitly not Aiden. I hated them last season, I don't think he'd be good for her (again can't explain it)
Now the 2nd season haven't came out so I know no more than S1 but I couldn't resist the poll because I really like the show!. Certaintly not Nolan I hope because he seems more like family. I do know Daniel can be arrogant so I hope Emily leaves but for that to happen wouldn't she have gotten her revenge?. Aiden dosen't ring a bell...I wouldn't know. Ultimately I voted for Jack but with the other Emily its complicated but it should've been him.
Nolan: I never considered him as a love interest for Emily. He is like a brother to her. But who knows, maybe that will pull a Brothers & Sisters but the show would jump the shark if these two ever get involved romantically with each other, just like B&S jumped the shark when Justin & Rebecca got together. Nolan needs a new man in his life, or maybe they should bring Marco back.
Jack: I just don't feel them. Beside the memories of this childhood love, I just don't see the spark and chemistry between these two. His reaction to finding out the truth is going to have a major impact on their relationship but like I said, I can't picture these two in the long run.
Aiden: He obviously understands Emily in ways none of the other three do but I just do see it happening. There is always something coming between them, whether it be different agendas or disagreements on how to achieve something, they will never really be completely on the same side in my opinion.
Daniel: They were great in S1 but then Daniel turned into his parents. They have the best chemistry since Josh and Emily are a real couple but I think TPTB have made it very clear that all love is gone and that he is just an expedient for Emily and that she is just using him.
Aiden. Its the only real connection she has on the show, barring Nolan who isnt a love interest. With Daniel its just games and what draws her towards Jack is their childhood. But Aiden is the only one who really knows, understands, supports her and even tries to show her that Revenge is not everything since he's been there. Emily should totally be with him!
Jack Porter only wants to see Amanda and would most likely completely hate the Emily side of current Amanda. Its a childhood love and those things never really last. Both of them would be chasing their past selves and past Jack and past Amanda are way too different form how they are now.
Aiden Mathis - obsessive and possessive jerk. Emily would NEVER be her own person as long as he is around.
Daniel Grayson - he never ever KNEW Emily and he never would. The person behind the mask of Emily Thorne is not someone Daniel would ever realize on his own, thus there's n o real "connection". At the same time, he is just as obsessive as Aiden is.
Nolan - He truly understands her because he has seen the most sides of her personality. He can be a moral compass without being judgy, he can be a sidekick without trying to overshadow her and he is capable on his own. Only one out of all of them who does not try to TELL her how to be, instead just reacting to her decisions
So yeah, my vote is clear. Be it platonic or romantic, does not matter, either works, but Nolan and Emily are the best fit out of the list.
Am I the only one who thinks she shouldn't be with any of them? I would like her to end up with Nolan, but not in the romantic way. For once I would like to see the woman not fall for one definite guy at the end of the series, not every woman needs to end the series with a man. Although, if she makes it through her revenge alive she might need some love to go around.
Her and Nolan will be best friends/family forever unless he dies.
After Daniels betrayal at the end of season 1 she stopped loving him and never will, no future.
In a way Jack and her are living in the past but in season 1 when they were together for that 1-2 episodes it was real, it was jack and emily (not childhood amanda crush). Of course that was before fake-amanda and the baby. Now if they had a chance I'm not sure if they would work or not.
Aiden and emily have a connection. Lots/most people hate the actor so I really don't see them ending up together.
I don't want emily to end up with someone in the last episode I want her to find someone before than so we can see them as a happy couple. I'm open to a new guy too. I know it would be complicated but I love the actor playing victoria's son him and emily could fall in love and end up together.
Why would you include Nolan?? Emily's father trusted Nolan to take care of Emily, he's a like a brother, like a guardian for her. Maaan you've pissed me off.
It's pretty much clear to every one that Emily never had feelings for Daniel, she will continue to use him until she's done.
To be honest i think Emily cares for Jack but that's that. Yes they had a thing when they were kids, but they were just KIDS. I think Emily needs that closure before she can move on with her life, she doesn't want to regret that she didn't even try. They both are completely different people now, Jack will never understand and accept the things Emily's done and will continue to do. It's just that...so much has changed in their lifes, they're both from different worlds. I just don't see it happening at the end of the day.
Aiden would be the one for her, because she can be true to herself with him, he can understand her the way no one can. He accepts her dark side (unlike Jack) and is capable of protecting her, while with jack Emily has to protect him.She can be Amanda or Emily it doesn't matter to him. Because he knows her and she knows him. And above all they love each other.
In Emily Vancamp's words "Also, I think this relationship means more to her than to Jack. She's more nostalgic about their childhood, because of the trauma she's been through. I know a lot of people are rooting for Emily and Aiden. Maybe she has to get over that nostalgia to realize Aiden is the person for her, because they understand each other. They both live in darkness. I don't know if someone who lives with that pain and darkness can really be with someone so wholesome and good."
I'm not sure how Jack could ever forgive Emily. She's manipulated most of his life for 2 years and is at least indirectly responsible for the death of his child's mother and his brother.
Nolan is like her big brother or at least strange uncle. I'll gag if they ever sleep together.
Daniel could never accept her reality. Add to that he may be disgusted by the games his family plays but he accepted the blood that's on his hands as well.
Oh, I didn't include because. Jack and Emily: Still living in the past. :/ Aiden and Emily: Oh, please. Trying to control her. Too obssesive. He can't even understand her. Yes, they were both set on Revenge, but Emily doesn't need protection from truth? I mean, Aiden is like the kid and Emily's the adult in their relationship. Daniel and Emily: We really need to include them? It's clear that Daniel is but a pawn in her grand master plan of Revenge. Nolan and Emily: Nolan understands her the best. Maybe not her pain, or anything, I just want them to like stay together forever and ever. I don't portrait them as lovers as Nolan and Emily.. not gonna happen. But like I want this show to end without "And they lived happily ever after. The end". I want for Emily and Nolan to stick together like bffs or siblings, I don't know. It's just Nolan is such a passive person, doesn't try to change Emily as clearly Aiden did. I just hope this show doesn't end like a fairytale would. Reality's not a fairytale. Sometimes there are no good endings. :/
At this point, I'm hoping none of the above (well, I do want Nolan with her but as a brother, that's how they've always felt to me, like siblings). But truth is, tptb will probably have her end up with Jack, even though the actors have cero chemistry (to me) and a good part of the fan base jumped ship when Amanda got knocked, Is the whole romantic notion of childhood love against all odds. Anyway, this will likely be at the very end, since now both them seek revenge. Daniel will probably die at some point, but not after a redeeming arc, and Aiden, well, I just can't stand him, so I hope he goes soon.
I am not sure who Emily should end up with, but I'm sure where she should end up...jail, along with most of the characters. This show is seriously addictive but there are few characters who should not be in jail at its end.
They seem to share our views about Aiden and Jack. It's still the 3rd season, 4 maybe 5 seasons still to go so i wouldn't worry much if we don't see a lot of Aiden and Emily in season 3.
Romantically I like her with Aiden. I'm okay with her and Jack but I think that relationship is based more on nostalgia than anything else... I think they make better friends to tell you the truth.
Ideally though, I think she's better off alone, and being with Nolan. Not in a relationship with him, just them together in a platonic, as he is basically the closest thing to family she's got right now....
The internet is a small contingent of the viewing audience so I wouldn't form conclusions of an actor's popularity on that basis. And if I've overstepped and you have some concrete knowledge of Barry Sloane's popularity w/the Revenge fanbase, my apologies ;)
BUG in the poll - Guys I think this poll has a bug. I have been monitoring this poll for the last 12 hours, no matter jack poster has been 150 ahead of aiden. So odd!
I can't post the link because disque takes forever to monitor it but the title of the article is "Revenge Spoiler! How Fans Killed a Potential Storyline: Creator Mike Kelley Tells All" its on wetpaint. It talks about how Mike Kelly (show creator) received a lot of fan complaint against a theory that david clark was still alive so he decided that would never be a possible storyline.
Personally I like Aiden and enjoyed him and emily together in season 2. From what people comment on the show it seems like a lot of people either don't like the actor, the character or him being with emily. I assume given the article above its possible that aiden and emily's relationship will be killed because of fan uproar.
i really think she will end up dead in Nolan`s Arms, all of this revengy stuff will get her to a point where there is no end and is gonna be her or the others
Okay. So really you're just relying on fan polls and bias websites. No comment that would hold weight say from current showrunner, Sunil Nayar or ABC Studio. The show had a great opportunity to leave the Aiden character in the past with the s2 cliffhanger but instead they are bringing the character front and center. And from the mouth of Sunil, re:Barry Sloane, "we barely scratched the surface of what Barry can do as an actor...."
Great post. You've explained quite well, your reasoning for each of the (possible) pairings. I agree with you, for the most part. I am just worried that the show has been trying to steer us towards a Jack and Emily endgame since the beginning, even though since Aiden's introduction, I too have found Aiden to be a better match for her. I also worry that the show will turn Aiden into a bad guy, given his misguided actions that went against Emily's wishes, in the last episodes of the previous season.
Well I don't know what Nolan is doing there, I don't see them that way at all. Jack would be my last choice out of the three. She will end up with him and I understand why and see the appeal but I just don't it find it very exciting, it's too predictable. I would love for her to have a "fall for the enemy" storyline with Daniel, similar to the one she was starting to have in early season 1. If they were to go down that route and make him a redemption arc, that would be my choice. If not, then Aiden. I am fine with Jack too, but it's just my least favorite.
JACK PORTER!!! Him and Emily are meant to be - the bond is still there even when he didnt know who she was, he still felt drawn to her and not be able to tell why...
Emily needs and will always love Jack - no matter who comes along, her love for Jack will always remain.
Daniel - She never fell for him or loved him at all, yes she cares but thats it - and he is a Grayson, i think she had hope that he wouldnt turn out like his parents but the lack of empathy for Amanda and getting to know the truth - he didnt care enough etc
Aiden - Just understand each other coz of revenge and thats it.
As i said Jack and Emily are meant to be rooted for!
Noooooo! *sniff* Okay, I would rather she end up walking off alone then dying. And by alone I mean, alone. No Nolan either. (No, I'm not fond of the character. Yes, I know that might be blasphemy. I simply don't care.)
Seriously, she needs Jack?! Why? Please don't give me some fairytale, damsel in distress, broken woman healed by the love of a good man nonsense. I don't think my female sensibilities will be able to take it.
Nolan is romantically irrelevant. The Jack & Daniel relationships are both predictable and hackneyed.
Lets put two people together who knew each other as kids and were torn apart by tragedy. Don't worry about the fact that their life experiences and current acts of betrayal make it obvious they wouldn't work. They built sandcastles on the beach at 9 and the waves didn't wash them away signifying that no storm will tear them apart.
Oh I know what would be original?! Have her to fall for the son of her enemy while she's using him to destroy his mother. Then she will be conflicted on her revenge.
Such compelling choices! What's a girl to do?
Go with the dark horse. The man that bust on the scene to upset the nice little apple cart that was S1 triangle. The man that knew when Amanda emerged and when Emily was front and center. The man that can give you a good fight and a good,....well you know ;-) The man that worked to regain your trust. The man that can walk away but leave you knowing that there's a place you can call home if you want it. Aiden FTW.
that could be a good ending too she is so into this that she push everyone away from her but it would be sad cause she is going to be alone D: i preffer to her dying in a tearfull escene!
Okay how about not completely alone. She takes one last tour of the beach house and as she closes the door and begin to walk down the steps a stray dog is sitting at the bottom. They take one look at each other and walk/trot off into the fog :D I'm desperate here, Ron. I don't want her to die. But I don't want a predictable ending either. *sigh*

i dont want her to die either but that could be the ebst she can get cause at the end im pretty sure The Graysons are going to find out who she really is and she can go away or stay and Do one last Figth which i think it is what she`s going to do, maybe they wont kill her... even worst they kill Nolan one of the persons she trust the most and that for sure will break her a lot of things can be made for a finale i dont know what fits the best
Thanks. I don't think you need to worry. Of course Jack and Emily have a bond and yes the show will be taking that route in season 3...i did think of Jack and Emily as an endgame back in season 1 and since then things have changed...Aiden wasn't in season 1 and there was no other possibility of Emily being with someone else then Jack cuz Daniel has never been an option but Aiden has changed the whole thing...The writers wouldn't have shown such strong connection between Aiden and Emily and all things between them (i won't go in detail, you know what i mean) and his affectionate side for EMILY if at the end of the day they wanted to get rid of him to make room for Jack. They had a pretty good chance of getting rid of Aiden's character at the end of last season and make more room for Jack and Emily but they're bringing in his character with even more power next season. That's a fact that Aiden's character is dark and he can easily be misunderstood for a bad guy but the way they handled his character last season showing he's a genuinely good guy who cares deeply for the people he loves. They were saying DO NOT MISUNDERSTAND HIM FOR A BAD GUY. Season 3 i expect to see Aiden going into his shell of darkness because of Emily being all held up with Jack but at the same time i expect Emily to be the one to bring him back from his darkness ( cuz she's the only one holding that power) so i don't see Aiden turning into a bad guy. Talking about last season that he went behind Emily's back, i'm sure at some point Nolan's done the same thing to protect Emily but we don't think that he will turn into a bad guy do we? Sometimes you have to do thing to protect your loved ones. I'm not saying it was right but Emily would have done the same thing for him. So it may not be right but it's justified. If you listen to the show runner's interview you'd see he's no intend of getting rid of Aiden or turning him into a bad guy.
Not to mention that one of the many beautiful defining moments when Jack was reading vows with Amanda and Emily was in tears she looked for no one else but Aiden. And he was there like Always!!
Whatever happens, whomever Emily meets along the way (like Aiden and Daniel), in the end of the show, they should be together. Only Jack can make Emily/Amanda whole again. Jack is the ultimate, very responsible, kind, sweet, down-to-earth, and compassionate. Go, Jack!!!
Nolan is every bit a contender for Emily's heart as any one of these men. He stands by her through thick and thin, would do anything for her- even give up his whole company to protect her. Her firey nature and his quick witted humour make for this, somehow beautifully balanced dynamic that I think she needs in her life. She needs someone to cheer her up, to be the voice of reason for her and make her smile. He's the spark to her flame. Everyone can like whom they like for Emily. But for me, it's always going to be Nolan.
Jack is someone who hadnt changed or went bad or evil or is selfish when Emily saw him after years, he is one of the pure things from her past which she holds dear and loves
That's right. That's why JACK is for EMILY. He is the most decent man in the show. They somehow bring out the best in each other (meaning the goodness/pureness of their hearts). :)
Same thinking here! Haha. Emily is not completely true when she is with Aiden, and vice versa. They just look good together and they just had a relationship because of the proximity of their training before with Takeda. But Aiden to be the one for Emily, I DONT THINK SO. The man for our leading lady should be the most decent (fine if not decent, at least the LEAST EVIL MAN in the show!) which is Jack Porter. He is the one with the true heart and intentions for Emily/Amanda. The childhood was just a crush, but now that they are adults, they complete each other.
She does not NEED Jack. But if they want Emily with someone, Jack is the one. Not because Emily needs saving, but because they simply complete each other. Smile there! You seemed a little harsh with L3nn13 there. :)
Before S2 I never though Jack and Emily/Amanda had a future because Jack is too good and Emily/Amanda is not the person he remembers from his childhood. However, I think Jack has turned a corner and has been hardened by his revelations of what the Grayson's have done to his life, and would now be more open to accept Emily/Amanda for who she is now.... Perhaps even help her get her revenge.
I should begin by saying that I kind of don't give a shit, because romance is the least interesting aspect of TV shows to me, and I avoid shows are primarily about that. Since Revenge is essentially a primetime soap, I realize romance is integral to the plot, but I'd like the focus to remain on the schemes, plots and takedowns.
That being said - given the options, I chose Aiden. The others just don't work for me.
I don't feel romantic chemistry between Jack and Emily, not at all. And frankly, the cheesecake concept of a couple that's "meant to be" because they spent one freaking summer together as little kids is really stupid. Don't need that at all. On top of everything, I will find it hardly to swallow if Jack hooks up with Emily after finding out she's been lying to him for 2 years, and is in fact the woman he THOUGHT his wife had been. Even if Jack's relationship with Fauxmanda was based on a lie, he had to have fallen for her for real - he can't be as deluded as to marry someone based on a childhood fantasy. So for him to so quickly move on and substitute the real Amanda for the one he married and so tragically lost... would just be icky.
Daniel and Ems may have the sparks (whether or not it has to do with the actors dating in real life), but that doesn't mean they would make a good couple in-story. In my opinion, there's never been any indication that Emily has romantic feelings for him. She believes he's a good guy, or at least used to, so she'd rather minimize the fallout he's going to suffer when she takes his parents down, but to me that only means she cares about him. I can't see her as being in love with him. What's more, I simply dislike Daniel. He's a spineless weakling who flip-flops in his loyalties between his parents every 5 minutes and is their hapless pawn most of the time. I would've preferred him to die in the S2 finale over Declan.
As for Nolan... like everyone, I love him and think the relationship between he and Ems is one of the best things about the show. When they're together, sparks fly. However, I just can't see it as a romance type of dynamic. Goofy big brother/fiery little sister, true friends and confidants, a great team, all of that... but not a couple, in my opinion.
Then there's Aiden. While he's not my favorite character, I don't hate him like many people do. I think there's a fair bit of chemistry between Emily and he, and he's the only one who knows who she is and understands her (to some degree), which puts him on a different level from the others. So if she has to end up with someone, that's my choice.
Well, they keep bringing up the Confucius (I think) quote about how, when you choose the path of revenge, you should dig two graves: for your enemy and for yourself. I wouldn't be surprised if Emily ends up six feet under, although that would certainly take some guts on the showrunner's part.
I think the Emily/Nolan relationship is absolutely at the heart of the show, it's always going to be more important to me than which romantic partner she ends up with. Everything you said about the importance of Nolan in her life is very true. The thing is, I just can't see their dynamic in a romantic light. It seems really odd to me. But mileage varies, obviously.
Again, good analysis. Thanks for taking the time to write up the post in reply to me. My fears are somewhat allayed, so thanks for that too. I guess I'm so used to certain shows and showrunners giving faulty information, to lure fans to watch, that I can't really take anyone's word or reasoning for anything, until I actually see it onscreen. Revenge has been pretty good about keeping us interested in seeing how the story unfolds onscreen though.
No worries, i like it and i'm glad i could some what diminish your fears. I get it, i guess every one who's shipped a couple on any show have faced such fears at times.
Well, I'm basing that only on the quote, not the actual events on the show. I guess a counter-argument, though, would be that they're basing it loosely on The Count of Monte Cristo and didn't the hero have a happy ending in that one?
Off-topic (I don't think the longevity of the show will affect the ending), I'm not too optimistic about Revenge's future. Last season, its numbers kept dropping and by the end, they were barely acceptable by ABC's standards. I'm not sure why they kept both OUaT and Revenge in the same slots this year because it doesn't seem like they're a good pairing. They're certainly working hard to bring the audience back - Justin Hartley, the showrunner's promise to simplify Emily's love life and the muddled story as a whole, the teaser with Ems getting shot in her wedding dress - I guess we'll have to see if it works. Problem is, shows rarely recover in the ratings; once they're gone, viewers don't tend to come back. As long as Revenge remains enjoyable, though, I hope it sticks around.
It most certainly would. I'm hoping for an unpredictable ending in love and her mission but I would be gutted if she died. Then I would applaud the showrunner.
Uh, don't most relationships begin do to proximity? Jack & Emily on the beach as tots. Emily & Daniel, orchestrated yes, but she had get near so he could notice her. I think Emily & Aiden's relationship goes a little deeper than just being at the same place at the same time.
Actually the longevity of the show does affect the ending. "Lost' maye have ended differently had it been 3 and not 6 seasons. Everyone might have gotten off the Island and that stupid Jacob SL might have never been introduced and Jake and Kate may have ended up together. (that's only if you watched Lost) Stories drag, new plots are introduced, characters get boring they go, they bring new characters which brings new SLs with itself, which changes the direction of the show, which affects how the show ends. Now i'm sure everyone thought Jack and Emily were IT (i thought it too) and i'm pretty sure it would have, had they feared the show would be cancelled, but season 2, Aiden comes and puts doubt in everyone's mind whether it was right to think that Jack and Emily were IT maybe it's Aiden and Emily now. So yea. Yes Revenge did have a bad 2nd season because of the initiative SL and yes it is kinda true that once the viewership is lost it's hard to get them back but from the looks of S3 looks like they're coming back to what got Revenge so interesting in the first place and dropping the initiative SL so maybe not a lot but i'm guessing if season 3 is as good as season 1 then ratings will get better. And last time i checked Sunil Nayyar was the new show runner.
:) :) Complete each other?! Emily is not a whole person unless she's with Jack and vice-versa? I sure hope the show doesn't push this simplistic approach.
There was a connection between Aiden and Emily the moment they met at that bar. Emily ending up with the decent man ist smth I can't imagen. She might wish for a happy good relationship with Jack, but after all she has been through and she is capable of - would be enough for her on the long term?
At the moment I wish Emily to end up with Aiden. But I think this will all depend on how they will develope the guys characters. I can't imagen that Jack will be written very differently, so at the moment thas is the least probabilty for me. It's possible that she could also "end" up with Daniel since he is starting to catch up to Emily on an intellectual level. I wonder if Aiden and Daniel have made a pact..... Can't wait for the Show to continue.
"Catch up to Emily on an intellectual level?"I ask in sincerity. Where do you see this? Daniel's every action/thought since he met Emily has been orchestrated by either Emily, Victoria, Conrad, Aiden, the Initiative etc.. He is truly spineless (as a poster stated upstream). And it's embarrassing to watch him throw his weight around re:his family's treachery and interference in his relationship w/Emily when you know he's going to get in line two seconds later. Not only does Emily not love Daniel, I don't think she respects him.
Yeah Nolan is her moral compass. What he has over all these guys goes back to the premise. He knew David Clarke. He watched the man get railroaded. He knew what David wanted for Emily. And when Emily threw him under the bus w/that Tyler situation he invoked the sure disappointment of her dad to open her eyes to the destructive path she was on. I don't think Nolan has a chance in hell of getting w/Emily romantically and anyone that gets w/her romantically has no chance in hell of coming in between the two. They have been the best developed relationship of the show. And this is coming from somebody who jumped off the Nolan is the most awesome thing ever bandwagon a long time ago.
Yeah, now that I think about it - most series finales for shows like this feature the death of a major, widely beloved character, but how many times has the number one protagonist bitten the dust in the end? That has to be extremely rare.
From Mike Kelley's Wikipedia page: "Kelley wrote ABC's Revenge, a contemporary re-imagining of Alexandre Dumas' The Count of Monte Cristo from a female perspective." They've mentioned that many times. That being said, since he's no longer the showrunner, who knows how much the show will stick to that from now on.
A show's longevity affects what happens, obviously - a bunch of storylines and characters that were never planned are added - but I don't think it changes the ending if it was decided upon from the start. Of course, the showrunner switch means that even if Kelley DID outline an ending, it's not set in stone. And maybe he was going to make it up as he went along anyway.
About the last sentence in your comment: you misread what I wrote. I listed stuff that is being done to attract viewers and generate buzz for the show again. The first thing I mentioned was that they cast Justin Hartley, a Smallville alum/major male eye candy, as Victoria's long-lost son. The second thing was that the new showrunner - yes, Sunil Nayar - promised to simplify the over-complicated plots. I wasn't naming Hartley as the showrunner, obviously, his name was just in proximity to these words. :)
Yea i mean when you write a Novel, a show you do have an ending in mind but you don't exactly plan the exact ending. For instance say Dexter's creators had in mind that Dexter wouldn't have a happily ever after in the end but don't think they planned how? Will Dexter die himself? will he end up in prison? Will his sister be murdered? I think as the show went along, in the very late seasons of 6 and 7 the exact ending were decided. Yep sorry my bad. Never watched SmallVille so wasn't exactly familiar with the guy being cast as Patrick, his name was Justin Hartely.
I do think Nolan & Emily are definitely the heart of the show. I completely agree. I think Nolan being in her life is really what counts. I think she needs him-in whatever form people want to interpret that. Romance/friendship, etc. That's fair enough. I know everybody doesn't see them in a romantic light. I feel that way about all her other love interests. But everyone to their own I guess. :)
I know ist far fetched. But if it is good writing, it will happen very slow and steady. Emily was surpirsed to hear from Daniel that the knew about her and Victorias pact....
Ok, not 'complete' each other since a person is not half of anyone. It's more like they bring out the best in each other when they are together. Whatever you guys say to negate Jack, I still think Mr. Porter and Ms. Thorne are endgame. :) Peace.
So the BEST of Emily re: Jack is a lie? Because that is what has come out of her for 2 years since coming back into Jack's life. We're not negating this relationship. We're just stating what the show is selling and it's not some grand, pure, love. Where it was once sweet and innocent it has now become dirty. Heck even Nick Weschler stated that in an interview.
Since the first episode i haven´t like Jack, and in that moment i wanted her to be with Daniel, but became an idiot. so when aiden came i starded shipping him with emily
Well when chemistry is there, it's there, you can't hide it when it's not there, it's not.. It's not something you can cover not matter how good your acting skill are. And you can't fake it either.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Back in first season, I really liked her with Daniel, for a moment (like few last episodes of s1) - with Jack. In season 2 - with Aiden. But right now, I don't even know. I have a problem with all of these connections.
ReplyDeleteWell it's still early but I'm glad not so many people are choosing Daniel. Good chemistry between Emily and Daniel isn't everything. In every other way they're horrible for each other, and Daniel becomes more arrogant every season. Every time he seems to become a little more tolerable, he does something way worse that makes him an asshole.
ReplyDeleteI love her with Daniel (can't explain why), but besides him the only one I'd still be happy with happening is Jack. Not Nolan because I feel like they have more of a brother-sister relationship, and definitly not Aiden. I hated them last season, I don't think he'd be good for her (again can't explain it)
ReplyDeleteNow the 2nd season haven't came out so I know no more than S1 but I couldn't resist the poll because I really like the show!.
ReplyDeleteNone of the above to be honest:
ReplyDeleteNolan: I never considered him as a love interest for Emily.
They have the best chemistry since Josh and Emily are a real couple but I think TPTB have made it very clear that all love is gone and that he is just an expedient for Emily and that she is just using him.
jack porter.
ReplyDeleteonly Jack no one else
ReplyDeleteAiden. Its the only real connection she has on the show, barring Nolan who isnt a love interest.
ReplyDeleteWith Daniel its just games and what draws her towards Jack is their childhood. But Aiden is the only one who really knows, understands, supports her and even tries to show her that Revenge is not everything since he's been there. Emily should totally be with him!
Let's review all of the choices, shall we?
ReplyDeleteJack Porter only wants to see Amanda and would most likely completely hate the Emily side of current Amanda.
ReplyDeleteHer and Nolan will be best friends/family forever unless he dies.
ReplyDeleteAfter Daniels betrayal at the end of season 1 she stopped loving him and never will, no future.
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty much clear to every one that Emily never had feelings for Daniel, she will continue to use him until she's done.
Team Nemily!
ReplyDelete"Aiden would be the one for her, because she can be true to herself with him"
ReplyDeleteAHAHAHHA, how about no. :)
Love her with both Jack and Aiden...
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how Jack could ever forgive Emily. She's manipulated most of his life for 2 years and is at least indirectly responsible for the death of his child's mother and his brother.
ReplyDeleteNolan is like her big brother or at least strange uncle. I'll gag if they ever sleep together.
Daniel could never accept her reality. Add to that he may be disgusted by the games his family plays but he accepted the blood that's on his hands as well.
Kinda leave Aiden by process of elimination.
Anyone but Jack
ReplyDeletePfft. #Nemily forever.
ReplyDeleteOh, I didn't include because.
ReplyDeleteJack and Emily: Still living in the past. :/
Aiden and Emily: Oh, please.
I'm so agree with you about Aiden and Jack. I'm just hoping the writers kept those facts and those relationships in mind when they wrote the season 3.
ReplyDeleteJack and Emily. :) Nolan and Emily should remain BFFs. :)
ReplyDeletei want to see ehr with Daniel or Jack i really though she will fall for Daniel the make such a great couple
ReplyDeleteCouldn't have said it any better. Well actually EVC said it best. So did Emily Thorne to Aiden "I needed an honest moment. I miss you."
ReplyDeleteAt this point, I'm hoping none of the above (well, I do want Nolan with her but as a brother, that's how they've always felt to me, like siblings). But truth is, tptb will probably have her end up with Jack, even though the actors have cero chemistry (to me) and a good part of the fan base jumped ship when Amanda got knocked, Is the whole romantic notion of childhood love against all odds. Anyway, this will
ReplyDeletelikely be at the very end, since now both them seek revenge.
ReplyDeleteAiden is the only one for Emily. They are both dark & damaged souls. Perfect for each other.. Love them together!
ReplyDeleteThey seem to share our views about Aiden and Jack. It's still the 3rd season, 4 maybe 5 seasons still to go so i wouldn't worry much if we don't see a lot of Aiden and Emily in season 3.
ReplyDeleteRomantically I like her with Aiden.
ReplyDeleteI'm okay with her and Jack but I think that relationship is based more on nostalgia than anything else... I think they make better friends to tell you the truth.
Ideally though, I think she's better off alone, and being with Nolan. Not in a relationship with him, just them together in a platonic, as he is basically the closest thing to family she's got right now....
Not jack please! His is too dim for Emily. Yuck!
ReplyDeleteWell if Emily Vancamp thinks Emily Throne should be with Aiden and Emily Thorne wants to be with Aiden then #Aimily it is. ;)
ReplyDeleteI know Josh and Emily are together in real life but i'm sorry to say that there's no chemistry between them.
ReplyDeleteha! ha! This reply to always makes me chuckle. If this was season one Daniel would have gotten my vote by default.
ReplyDeleteThe internet is a small contingent of the viewing audience so I wouldn't form conclusions of an actor's popularity on that basis. And if I've overstepped and you have some concrete knowledge of Barry Sloane's popularity w/the Revenge fanbase, my apologies ;)
ReplyDeleteBUG in the poll - Guys I think this poll has a bug. I have been monitoring this poll for the last 12 hours, no matter jack poster has been 150 ahead of aiden. So odd!
ReplyDeleteX - The show should be purely about having a revenge and not about finding perfect love. Sadly it's a typical ABC soap drama and I quickly dropped it.
ReplyDeleteI can't post the link because disque takes forever to monitor it but the title of the article is "Revenge Spoiler! How Fans Killed a Potential Storyline: Creator Mike Kelley Tells All" its on wetpaint. It talks about how Mike Kelly (show creator) received a lot of fan complaint against a theory that david clark was still alive so he decided that would never be a possible storyline.
ReplyDeletePersonally I like Aiden and enjoyed him and emily together in season 2.
ReplyDeleteOkay.
ReplyDeleteGreat post.
ReplyDeleteVery good point. I could totally see that ending.
ReplyDeleteWell I don't know what Nolan is doing there, I don't see them that way at all.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts exactly! I don't even know why I love her with Daniel but I do. Jack is an acceptable backup. I'd be mad if it was Nolan or Aiden.
ReplyDeleteCom certeza ... o amor tem que ser mais forte ...
ReplyDeleteJACK PORTER!!! Him and Emily are meant to be - the bond is still there even when he didnt know who she was, he still felt drawn to her and not be able to tell why...
ReplyDeleteEmily needs and will always love Jack - no matter who comes along, her love for Jack will always remain.
Nolan - is like an sibling to Emily!!!
ReplyDeleteDaniel - She never fell for him or loved him at all, yes she cares but thats it - and he is a Grayson, i think she had hope that he wouldnt turn out like his parents but the lack of empathy for Amanda and getting to know the truth - he didnt care enough etc
ReplyDeleteSeriously, she needs Jack?! Why? Please don't give me some fairytale, damsel in distress, broken woman healed by the love of a good man nonsense. I don't think my female sensibilities will be able to take it.
ReplyDeleteNolan is romantically irrelevant. The Jack & Daniel relationships are both predictable and hackneyed.
ReplyDeleteLets put two people together who knew each other as kids and were torn apart by tragedy.
ReplyDeleteOkay how about not completely alone. She takes one last tour of the beach house and as she closes the door and begin to walk down the steps a stray dog is sitting at the bottom. They take one look at each other and walk/trot off into the fog :D I'm desperate here, Ron. I don't want her to die. But I don't want a predictable ending either. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteOkay how about not completely alone alone. She takes one last tour of the beach house and as she closes the door and begin to walk down the steps a stray dog is sitting at the bottom. ReplyDeletei dont want her to die either but that could be the ebst she can get cause at the end im pretty sure The Graysons are going to find out who she really is and she can go away or stay and Do one last Figth which i think it is what she`s going to do, maybe they wont kill her... even worst they kill Nolan one of the persons she trust the most and that for sure will break her a lot of things can be made for a finale i dont know what fits the best
ReplyDeleteTeam Aiden!
ReplyDeleteI don't get how two kids could be in love? Come on.. Wake up people!!!
ReplyDeleteWishful thinking on your side my friend.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
ReplyDeleteI don't think you need to worry.
ReplyDeleteWhatever happens, whomever Emily meets along the way (like Aiden and Daniel), in the end of the show, they should be together. Only Jack can make Emily/Amanda whole again. Jack is the ultimate, very responsible, kind, sweet, down-to-earth, and compassionate. Go, Jack!!!
ReplyDeleteyou said it they are dating so of-course there is a chemistry between them
ReplyDeleteYeah I never liked that part either.
ReplyDeleteNolan is every bit a contender for Emily's heart as any one of these men.
ReplyDeleteJack is someone who hadnt changed or went bad or evil or is selfish when Emily saw him after years, he is one of the pure things from her past which she holds dear and loves
ReplyDeleteSorry but that's not necessary. Their Chemistry is as dead as a rock.
ReplyDeleteThat's right. That's why JACK is for EMILY. He is the most decent man in the show. They somehow bring out the best in each other (meaning the goodness/pureness of their hearts). :)
ReplyDeleteSame thinking here!
ReplyDeleteShe does not NEED Jack. But if they want Emily with someone, Jack is the one. Not because Emily needs saving, but because they simply complete each other. Smile there! You seemed a little harsh with L3nn13 there. :)
ReplyDeleteBefore S2 I never though Jack and Emily/Amanda had a future because Jack is too good and Emily/Amanda is not the person he remembers from his childhood. However, I think Jack has turned a corner and has been hardened by his revelations of what the Grayson's have done to his life, and would now be more open to accept Emily/Amanda for who she is now.... Perhaps even help her get her revenge.
ReplyDeleteI should begin by saying that I kind of don't give a shit, because romance is the least interesting aspect of TV shows to me, and I avoid shows are primarily about that. Since Revenge is essentially a primetime soap, I realize romance is integral to the plot, but I'd like the focus to remain on the schemes, plots and takedowns.
ReplyDeleteThat being said - given the options, I chose Aiden.
ReplyDeleteI think the Emily/Nolan relationship is absolutely at the heart of the show, it's always going to be more important to me than which romantic partner she ends up with. Everything you said about the importance of Nolan in her life is very true. The thing is, I just can't see their dynamic in a romantic light. It seems really odd to me. But mileage varies, obviously.
ReplyDeleteAgain, good analysis.
ReplyDeleteNo worries, i like it and i'm glad i could some what diminish your fears. I get it, i guess every one who's shipped a couple on any show have faced such fears at times.
ReplyDeleteIt's just the 3rd season, too early to predict for a show who's got good ratings and is suppose to go above 6 seasons.
ReplyDeleteIt was never implied they were in love. They had a special bond.
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm basing that only on the quote, not the actual events on the show. I guess a counter-argument, though, would be that they're basing it loosely on The Count of Monte Cristo and didn't the hero have a happy ending in that one?
ReplyDeleteOff-topic (I don't think the longevity of the show will affect the ending), I'm not too optimistic about Revenge's future.
LOL! I promise I'm not laughing at you. I feel your frustration. They're not backing off on the romance so yeah go with what works.
ReplyDeleteIt most certainly would. I'm hoping for an unpredictable ending in love and her mission but I would be gutted if she died. Then I would applaud the showrunner.
ReplyDeleteUh, don't most relationships begin do to proximity? Jack & Emily on the beach as tots. Emily & Daniel, orchestrated yes, but she had get near so he could notice her. I think Emily & Aiden's relationship goes a little deeper than just being at the same place at the same time.
ReplyDelete;-) :-) Emily doesn't need completion. Neither does Jack. Who wants half of anybody? I really hope the show doesn't push that concept. :-) :-)
ReplyDeleteThe Count of Monte Cristo???
ReplyDeleteActually the longevity of the show does affect the ending. "Lost' maye have ended differently had it been 3 and not 6 seasons. Everyone might have gotten off the Island and that stupid Jacob SL might have never been introduced and Jake and Kate may have ended up together. (that's only if you watched Lost)
Stories drag, new plots are introduced, characters get boring they go, they bring new characters which brings new SLs with itself, which changes the direction of the show, which affects how the show ends.
I would be shocked if they killed her off in the end, but it would be a powerful and definitely talked about ending. Sometimes that is its own reward.
ReplyDelete:) :) Complete each other?! Emily is not a whole person unless she's with Jack and vice-versa? I sure hope the show doesn't push this simplistic approach.
ReplyDeleteThere was a connection between Aiden and Emily the moment they met at that bar. Emily ending up with the decent man ist smth I can't imagen. She might wish for a happy good relationship with Jack, but after all she has been through and she is capable of - would be enough for her on the long term?
ReplyDeleteAt the moment I wish Emily to end up with Aiden.
ReplyDeleteBut I think this will all depend on how they will develope the guys characters.
ReplyDeleteYeah Nolan is her moral compass.
ReplyDeleteYeah, now that I think about it - most series finales for shows like this feature the death of a major, widely beloved character, but how many times has the number one protagonist bitten the dust in the end? That has to be extremely rare.
ReplyDeleteFrom Mike Kelley's Wikipedia page: "Kelley wrote ABC's Revenge, a contemporary re-imagining of Alexandre Dumas' The Count of Monte Cristo from a female perspective." They've mentioned that many times. That being said, since he's no longer the showrunner, who knows how much the show will stick to that from now on.
ReplyDeleteA show's longevity affects what happens, obviously - a bunch of storylines and characters that were never planned are added - but I don't think it changes the ending if it was decided upon from the start.
ReplyDeleteYep sorry my bad.
ReplyDeleteI know ist far fetched. But if it is good writing, it will happen very slow and steady. Emily was surpirsed to hear from Daniel that the knew about her and Victorias pact....
ReplyDeleteOk, not 'complete' each other since a person is not half of anyone. It's more like they bring out the best in each other when they are together. Whatever you guys say to negate Jack, I still think Mr. Porter and Ms. Thorne are endgame. :) Peace.
ReplyDeleteSo the BEST of Emily re: Jack is a lie? Because that is what has come out of her for 2 years since coming back into Jack's life. We're not negating this relationship. We're just stating what the show is selling and it's not some grand, pure, love. Where it was once sweet and innocent it has now become dirty. Heck even Nick Weschler stated that in an interview.
ReplyDeleteSince the first episode i haven´t like Jack, and in that moment i wanted her to be with Daniel, but became an idiot. so when aiden came i starded shipping him with emily
ReplyDeleteI think that's just the acting. Emily doesn't love him whatsoever so she obviously can't act like she's attracted to him.
ReplyDeleteWell when chemistry is there, it's there, you can't hide it when it's not there, it's not.. It's not something you can cover not matter how good your acting skill are. And you can't fake it either.
