Under-rated is an interesting question as I think some of those on the list are already highly rated. No one can argue that the likes of John Noble and Tatiana Maslany for example are not already considered as being great at what they do, so therefore are not underated at all.
How the hell Walton Goggins doesn't have an Emmy for the Shield or Justified is one of lives mysteries. Same with Timothy Olyphant (Deadwood/Justified) and John Noble (Fringe)
My first thought went to Walton Goggins and Timothy Olyphant aswell. They have deserved a nomination for years now and it dissappoints me every year that people don´t see the amazing talent.
I find it so frustrating how often Justified gets overlooked outside of the guest performance categories. I think it manages to blend high quality drama with pure entertainment in a way no other show currently airing does. Sighs can't imagine this will ever change.
John Noble as Walter bishop. He needed some credit. Amazing acting. Also the kid who plays Joffrey on game of thrones (sorry, I don't remember his name) but he is really amazing. You just hate him. I think he's incredible
John Noble of course ! The man played 8 different amazing version of the same character (correct me if I'm wrong, but 8 seems ok to me, if we consider the past Walters as another version ...). He deserves more than what he's given ...
Kinnaman and Noble (and I'd add Carlyle if I'd had a third vote), if underrated means they should have been nominated for Emmys by now, but haven't been for some odd reason.
Cobie _ understatement of the decade Smulders Robert, I think he's one of the best characters on OUAT and has the best storylines and there isn't a moment where I don't go 'oh he's so good at playing this character' he is that good
Even when it comes to an underrated actors/actresses list, Sandra Oh is always forgotten. She is the most underrated actress I have ever seen, she is brilliant, never fails when it comes to display the exact right emotions when needed. She makes Cristina Yang believable, and she's been doing it for 9 years. I believe she deserves some recognition.
Taraji Henson - Joss Carter from Person of Interest. The whole cast goes together well but there's a lot of subtleties to Carter's character such as she's learning how much into a gray area she has to go to help people and fight corruption.
Silas Weir Mitchell - Monroe from Grimm. I don't know if he's ever been a regular cast memeber in anything else but I've seen him guest star in a good number of shows. While he's usually the crazy or creepy guy he does seem to have a decent range and I think he's one of the better parts of Grimm.
More than half of these people are anything, but underrated. Emmy Rossum or Sarah Rafferty on a list like this? I mean sure, they are not getting Oscards, but Emmy Rossum is a critic favorite and Sarah is a fan favorite, they really aren't underrated in their respective fields. Rober Carlyle is also quite accomplished, although he has been getting the short end of the stick on TV for a year or two now.
If I had to pick from this list I'd probably go with Guillermo Diaz. If he played the same character on a show like Homeland he would've gotten an Emmy by now, whereas he is only considered a good supporting actor on Scandal. (and he is getting absolutely horrible and incredibly simple roles on other shows)
Mine would have to be Jaime Murray (Defiance, Dexter Season 2), Katie McGrath (Merlin, Dracula), and Zoie Palmer (The Guard, Lost Girl)! I will give new series a try (chance) with these actress, and Zoie or Jaime would be great selections for the first female "Doctor" for the BBC series Doctor Who (Katie is to young)! For me these Actresses talent and performances make them the "Other Star" on their respected series, IMHO! 4 A SOCIAL MEDIA EXPERIENCE, I am Nobody!!!
This isn't a competition. Robert Carlyle is AMAZING! He plays every aspect of his character brilliantly and owns OUAT. Rumpelstiltskin could easily be a caricature but instead he's layered and the most profound person in the cast.
John Nobel and Anna Torv. While were at it i'll add the rest of the cast of FRINGE! They were superb in their rolls,as were the writers, directors, and the Showrunners! I could go on .......
I think that's part of the problem with this poll. Robert Carlyle is a very good actor and he's been called so multiple times, just watch Trainspotting to know exactly how good he is. My point being I'm not sure how he can ever be considered underrated.
and I have to give Cote de Pablo an honorable mention! She wasn't a superb actress in the beginning, but she has grown into a great one. Fantastic in comedic and dramatic scenes.
He's completely underrated in America. Scotland seems to recognize him as a brilliant actor (and he's been nominated for several BAFTAs) but most Americans have no idea who he is and his work on OUAT has been completely ignored (and it's seriously brilliant).
1. John Noble - Walter Bishop(s) - FRINGE 2. Tatiana Maslany - Multiple Clones/Twins - Orphan Black 3. Mads Mikkelson - Hannibal Lecter - Hannibal 4. Robert Carlyle - Rumple/Mr. Gold - OUAT 5. Olivia Munn - Sloane Sabbith - The Newsroom
Honorable Mentions: Michael Shannon - N. Van Alden - Boardwalk Empire Michael Kenneth Williams - Chalky White - Boardwalk Empire Amy Acker - Person of Interest David Zayas - Sgt. Angel Batista - Dexter Kristen Bower van Stratan - Pamela S.B. - True Blood
I could go on with guess stars, but I think that should be saved for another poll!
sry, but what do you mean by underrated? do you mean not being recognized at the awards or not getting enough good reviews even though they deserve them? Because Robert Carlyle for example gets a lot of praise, just no noms.
I think a lot of the "better" actors are recognized by critics and their peers for the supreme talents that they are, but they all too often escape the masses notice. There is a reason most awards have been one by cable or premium cable actors in the last decade or two.
One other name I'd like to add is Paula Malcomson! I think she is one of the best actresses around and usually goes unnoticed by the majority of viewers.
She is really an incredible actress. I keep hoping she'll get a really good kick-butt role one of these days, but all of her roles thus far have been emotionally compelling.
I think she's a really good actress (this role is night and day from The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), but I feel the POI writers have kept her on a leash. I agree she's a great character to look through the gray from (so often are Bad Robot characters), but I would like to them to write her a more of a distinctive arc and maybe get more into that military background...
Agreed. Her role on Ray Donovan should get a look or two, but I wonder if it will have enough meat to really get a sincere consideration for a nomination. Maybe her role has expanded since I stopped watching RD (I'm letting a few episodes accrue to watch in marathon form), but from the first few I watched her role seemed to be secondary to the brothers Donovan and Mickey.
That's how I feel too. She is talented and capable of giving an incredible performance when she has great material to work with, but on a number of shows I have seen her on she comes of a little 2-dimensional or obvious. POI being one of those roles where she is not doing her best work IMO.
Agreed on Gould. I think almost every performance on that show is awesome. Some are just disturbing and grating, but that is what makes the performance so good in some ways I guess.
hi IS very underrated here. he owns OUAT and steals every scene he is in. the show owes him so much. if not for robert's brilliant work the show would be dull and I honestly doubt they could get past a few episodes. and creators know that. yet he is ignored and the showrunners promote some carton ''main'' actors who people couldn't care less.
Sarah Rafferty as Donna, for sure. She's amazing every week, but I think she can get lost in the glow of the show's two leads (who are also, admittedly, fantastic). I also think John Noble was underrated to everyone that wasn't a huge Fringe fan. He was absolute perfection.
I can't wait to see where Jensen's career takes him after Supernatural. I didn't know of him before but now I can't imagine him absent from my TV. He has such an amazing depth of emotion that he brings week in and week out, no matter what the situation. Here's hoping others have taken notice, too!
Robert Carlyle? Underrated? Bitch please - everyone knows how amazing he is, have you seen The Full Monty?! - but I love Olivia Munn, she does not get nearly enough screen time.
I def think Anna Torv proved herself greatly with her 5-way doppelgangers, but I think the writers gave her the short hand of the stick during the final season by not really spelling out to the audience what ever was going on with her character.
Well I think that's part of my point about subtlety. The episode "Get Carter" showed exactly what we needed to know Carter, she's a black and white person who's surrounded only by shades of gray and it's getting to her.
When Carter was chasing John she wanted him arrested and on trial and found the only end result to capturing him was his execution which began her realization that she had to choose between the shades of gray. But in recent episodes they've become harder to deal with. In "In Extremis" she had to choose between saving Fusco, a dirty cop and killer who's trying desperately to atone, or let him be disgraced by HR, the corrupt group of cops partnered with the Russian mob. Then it was save Elias, a killer who kidnapped her son and plans to kill more, or allow HR to execute him and destroy her life.
But throughout the series so far I think Henson has shown quietly how Carter has been deeply affected which to me makes her so underrated.
That's a good point. It could be intentionally written that way, but I also think there has been something progressive, as she becomes more actively involved (like what she did for Fusco in relation to Still's body!!). I still would like to see more gutsy forceful Carter, because when she did show it, it was a surprise and I think the POI universe is not really for the subtly quiet. --Not that I think that they should completely diminish her grace, I just think there's a bit of gusto hiding under the silence...
It's not a mystery. Emmy sucks balls, it is known. They haven't had anything funny winning comedy nomination for years. All the winners are usually trending shows.
You are excactly right. It has great dialog and ALL of the characters are interesting, even the smaller roles. They do an amazing job casting the actors, ofcourse that is why they get nominated for the guest preformences, but Goggins and Olyphant really deserves a nom aswell.
Ya,i agree they could of handled her better,Anna dealing with finding her daughther once again, then losing her daughter so shortly after. That and not having many episodes left to work out all that was needed.
Maybe they should not have killed Etta, this way Anna had the freedom to be herself and do want she did best.KICKED ASS,Obersevers ASS!
My pleasure. As much as I love the entire cast of character on POI and how giddy I am that Amy Acker is now a main cast member (She's like a zealot/tech junkie version of Kelly Payton from Alias!), I think Carter stands out as the true gem of the show.
some real good choices here, but I'm going to go with the always outstanding John Noble, and the very surprising Maggie Q - very easy to forget that she's anything but action and badassery, but she really surprised me with the many shades of emotion, and vulnerability that she's imbued Nikita with. also on my list would be Micheal Cudlitz, Mads M, Joel Kinnaman, and the revelation that was Tatiana Maslany
Everyone and their mother love Tatiana but I think I'll show my support for her Emmy snub....
John Noble is also always stellar!
And I love me some Bobby Carlyle... I find Willie Garson to be more "gimmicky" than good, but he does that extremely well and without being annoying so I will op my hat off to him for that.
Michael Culitz is undeniably a brilliant actor. I have no doubts about that. He became "that guy from 90210" to someone actually worth noticing.
On the other option: JENSEN!!!! What they've thrown at him and what he's delivered on SPN over the years, other actors can't pull off in a life long career. Also Lauren Graham... She deserves a shout out for her unrecognized work on Gilmore Girls alone.
That's true. There are some names in there that I think get exactly the HUGE amounts of love and recognition they deserve... maybe not from award shows, but I dare you to find anyone else besides the Emmy voters who don't believe Tatiana, or John or even Robert Carlyle are brilliant!
For me it was more of not delving into her choice of not being very maternal toward's Etta in 2015 to begin with. The choice to do her job, rather than search for their daughter like Peter did. I think the def of Etta was then very effective, because it really hit her what she lost (twice, which allowed her to finally fight for her daughter by following Walter's and September's plan. I just think we didn't undestand, or her background with her childhood/parental situation wasn't reinforced enough to make us understand why she kept putting duty before family. Why and if she lost her hope?
Maggie Q as Nikita, Anna Torv as all the Olivia's, John Noble as all the Walter Bishops, Alison Brie as Annie (mostly whole cast of community), Jennifer Carpenter as Deb, Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester, Elizabeth Mitchell as Juliet Burke (im glad she has a role in revolution although i dont watch that series)
But anyone can argue Emmy voters are not a worthy point of reference. I know it still has prestige, but I think we now live at an age where audiences now know Emmys are a bit of a joke...
I kind of was half Joking, because a lot of these actors are well known and liked, but their TV ROLES aren't appreciated, especially in the States sinse outside of people's choice and SAG, this is really their only official public recognition (although I think some make it to Golden Globes), but for the actors it's really not a joke. They probably get more roles, if they win an Emmy and TV is really more impressive, than some films now. For us, yes the Emmy's can be a joke, because so many do not get recognized.
Winning awards means nothing to me personally... look at Potter - internationally loved, the best British cast under 3 generations, stunning visual effects, yet not one precious Oscar. Awards are not everything, I would have a hard time finding anyone in England, better yet the North (where I live) who could fault Carlyle in the slightest.
Jennifer Carpenter and I'd say Yvonne Strahovski, but she did win a saturn and while she was never really rewarded for some of her excellent work on Chuck, she was praised by many critics for it.
Its amazing so many people don't know what underrated means. If the show and character is popular then they are not underrated. I'm looking at you, people who voted for Robert Carslyle. He's amazing, but he is anything but underrated.
This poll is pointless when half of these people don't fit the criteria..
No he's not underrated here. People know who he is. Whether it be from Stargate, OUAT, 28 Weeks Later, etc. We know who he is. Especially the genre fans.
Genre fans sure. But I can't count the amount of people who said "Robert who?" when I told them I was a big fan. A handful of people remember him in the Full Monty but most people I know didn't know anything about his work.
Well he's more well-known than half the people on this list and the most critically acclaimed, and that's really all that matters when you are trying to see who is the most underrated.
he praised by audience (and totally deserve it) but completely ignored by ''professionals''. what make it worse far less talented ouat cast members get recognition and nominations. underrated he is.
Aden Young - Rectify Emmy Rossum - Shameless Tatiana Maslany - Orphan Black Matthew Rhys - The Americans Timothy Olyphant - Justified Walton Goggins - Justified Noah Emmerich - The Americans Keri Russell - The Americans Corey Stoll - House of Cards Michael K. Williams - Boardwalk Empire Jim Rash - Community Joel Kinnaman - The Killing Michelle Fairley - Game of Thrones Nikolaj Coster Waldau - Game of Thrones Adam Scott - Parks And Rec Chris Pratt - Parks And Rec Kim Coates - Sons of Anarchy ....and i got more.
Its network tv. They will push the generically beautiful good guys/ and generically handsome bad boys as much as they can. Even if they suck. The netowrks may do this, but the fans and critics recognize talent when they see it. Hell, read any review for OUAT and the actors with the most praise will be Robert and Lana, while the network will push Ginnifer, Jennifer, and Josh (and now whoever the hell plays Neal and Hook).
I get it. You just don't understand what underrated means, Either that or your a die hard fan of the actor.
If he was underrated he wouldn't be the most talked about part of practically every project he's been in. This alone proves he isn't underrated. He's fantastic and has gotten the recognition he deserves. He's not an A-Lister like DiCaprio and never will be, but he's hardly as underrated as this poll makes him out to be.
no you don't. when actor's brilliant work don't get recognition it deserves because as you said he is not generically beautiful I call it underrated. and many people from this list have their wins and noms too. just because robert have his wins and nominations doesn't make his current work less underrated.
Compared to the other actors and actresses on this list it does. You can't deny that at all.
This guy has been on American broadcast tv, American cable tv, he's been in theaters in movies such as 28 Weeks Later, James Bond, and a few others. He's not as unrecognized and underrated as you seem to think he is.
you voted mads mikkelsen. he doesn't get fans recognition? bitch please. I know about him even if I don't watch cannibal. he won cannes best actor and has other wins and nominations. the same with sara ramirez she has tony and other awards. and if you look at the rest of the people in this list most of them has their own critical acclaim and wins. so please don't pretend robert is the only one with award history here. and everyone has their own fanbase. it's not the case.
his current work as rumplestiltskin is extremely underrated and needs more professional recognition. many people agree on that. end of story.
I only watch like two of these shows...I think Cobie is hilarious on HIMYM but certainly not underrated. And I think Robert Carlyle is freakin' amazing in OUAT. One that comes to mind for me is Alison Mack as Chloe Sullivan in Smallville...really awesome actress in the first 8 seasons and an overall great character.
If underrated means robbed of Emmy love, then John Noble for sure. If it means "not recognized as a great talent because of the show they are on" then Jensen Ackles is top on my list. I don't find Willie Garson underrated on White Collar and he still has acclaim from his Sex and the City days, so although he plays my favorite character on this list, he just misses getting my vote.
Performance wise, every week for the last 8 years.
But if you're talking specifically about versatility and multiple characters: Skin, Tall Tales, In The End, Dream a Little Dream of me, It's a Terrible Life, Yellow Fever, When the Leeve Breaks, Live Free of Twihard, Slash Fiction....
I first saw Silas in Burn Notice as Seymour. He was only in 2 episodes 5 years ago but it was enough to make a lasting impression. I started watching Grimm simply to see him on my TV again. #1 on my TV wish list is that he would cameo in Burn Notice before it ends. Since this is the final season, I am running out of time for it to happen. However since #4 was that Mark Sheppard would reprise his role on White Collar and that IS happening, I'm not giving up hope yet.
Off topic, wanted to let you know I am LOVING Jared in Gilmore Girls, but even when he is not in an ep I am still hooked. Super writing, witty dialog, what is not to love. lol Thanks for talking me into this.
Here's my list ( These are the ones I can remember, I'm sure there are so many that I can't) : - Joel Kinnaman - Det. Stephen Holder (The Killing) - Walton Goggins - Boyd Crowder (Justified) - Timothy Olyphant - Raylan Givens(Justified) - Kristen Bower van Stratan - Pam (True Blood) - Rutina Wesley - Tara Thornton (True Blood) - Ryan Kwanten - Jason Stackhouse (True Blood)
* *P.S 1: Actually, I'd say Nelson Ellis as Lafayette from True Blood but I don't think he is underrated**
- Gabriel Mann - Nolan Ross (Revenge) - Emily VanCamp - Emily Thorne/Amanda Clarke (Revenge) - Evan Peters - Tate Langdon / Kit Walker (American Horror Story) - Lily Rabe - Sister Mary (American Horror Story) - Sarah Rafferty - Donna (Suits) - Gabriel Macht- Harvey Specter (Suits) - Rick Hoffman - Louis Litt (Suits) - Alan Cumming- Eli Gold (The Good Wife) - Archie Panjabi - Kalinda Sharma (The Good Wife) - Taraji P. Henson- Det. Joss Carter (Person of Interest) - Kim Coates - Alex "Tig" Trager (Sons of Anarchy) - François Arnaud - Cesare Borgia (The Borgias)
*P.S : Mads Mikkelsen is underrated?! Come on ! :)
I notice that anyone who says either Jensen or Jared for Supernatural is getting voted down. That is very sad, the fact that there are people who will vote comments down just because they are about Supernatural!
I voted Mads for the following reasons: 1. I only know him from Hannibal. I've never seen him in anything else, and I"ve never heard anyone else talking about any of his other projects. Compared that to Robert who has fans that identify for many of his projects. There are those who love him for OUAT, those who love him for SGU, those that love him for Hamish MacBeth, those that love him for his movies, and those that overlap and love all of his work. As far as I can tell Mads has nothing but Hannibal as his claim to 'fame." I could be wrong, but if I am then doesn't that just go to show how underrated he is? 2. Network ratings for their current shows. OUAT started out as a blockbuster his with a 4.0 in the demo. The season 2 premiere match that. Hannibal is on NBC, the lowest rated broadcast network (unless you count the CW, and many don't.) Many more people watch OUAT compared to Hannibal. Therefore more people know who Robert Carlyle is than who Mad Mikkleson is. 3.Robert Carlyle has had more projects showing his range, more critical acclaim, more fan acclaim; and I would rate him above Mads Mikkleson as an actor, (for now anyway, until Mads does more projects and I can see him and judge just how good he is outside of Hannibal.) Not to say Mads isn't excellent in his part. 4. I also voted John Noble. You can substitute Mads for John and Hannibal for Fringe and my points will still be valid. They both have their fanbases from each of their respective shows. But that's really all they have, isn't it? Of Mads fans all I see is those who know him for Hannibal. And of John's all I see is those who know him for Fringe. THey both might have gotten a bit of recognition for other works, but those aren't known to the general public (and judging by each shows ratings the shows themselves apparently aren't known to the general public.) Compared to Robert Carlyle (and a few others on this list too. I'm only singling him out because he's leading the poll.) who has quite the resume and is known for many different parts.
I do agree with you that in a world celebrating Channing Tatum, Seth Rogen, Justin Bieber, and other abominations in the entertainment industry, that Robert Carlyle is woefully underrated. But the general public makes these chumps famous. And if there is one thing we can both agree on, its the general public kind of sucks. If the actor isn't on the level of a magazine model than they don't really care to know about him.
Anyway, I do find it funny how we both love Robert and are debating the level of recognition he's gotten. I wanted him as Doctor Who (and if he ever gets that part I think we'll both be agreed on him no longer being underrated or unrecognized. Robert Carlyle for the Thirteenth Doctor! :)
Have you seen 28 Weeks Later? I thought he had the best role in that. He did some awesome suspense scenes, action scenes, and emotional scenes. That was the very first thing I saw him in.
It is nice to have a civil debate about this. Most places on the internet would have devolved into a flame war by now.
So glad you are liking it. It is one of the wittiest shows I have ever watched and the cast chemistry is phenomenal. Thanks also for the video. Happy brothers are the rarest and most beautiful of all. If only they would return. I was smiling the entire way through this video.
Something I"m realizing is the that the "underrated" part isn't being specific. Its kind of broadly used in this case. Is the actor underrated on the show, or is it the character? Underrated compared to other shows on the network, or other shows in general? Underrated in the US compared to other places or what ( I hear Robert Carlyle and Mads Mikkleson are really well known outside of the US.)
Most people vote down any CW show. (Actually, many people vote down any opinion they disagree with, but thats the nature of the internet.) The CW's reputation is still in the shitter thanks to Dawn Ostroff. Even with awesome shows like SPN, Arrow, and Nikita, when the channel CW is mentioned most people think of Gossip Girl and run away.
So I think the fact that it is on the CW is why Jensen and Jared are being downvoted, and not the show itself (unless its some of those fans that dislike the newer seasons.)
" but for the actors it's really not a joke. They probably get more roles, if they win an Emmy and TV is really more impressive than some films now a days." - I know, it's why I said, it still has prestige. But it's not the be all end all. And I do think people are beginning to realise and embrace that fact. Here's hoping the industry will catch up soon too....
"This year I was impressed by one nomination for guess actor, Bobby Cannival for his role of Gyp Rossette in Boardwalk Empire."
- That's one out of how many though? There are always exceptions. And not every nomination or win is to be disregarder that's a given, for sure . But how many in how long have been undeserving of nods and wins while others haven't even gotten the "honour of a nomination" that they do deserve? I think those numbers are far more telling....
Agreed. That's why it was a half joke, because it's for that very reason that it once was more prestige, and once in while they do nominate people who deserve it. I think part of the problem is that the industry has changed and the awards ceromonies need to start changing with it, including have more categories or allowing for larger nominations list, because there are just so many find actors/actress's on TV these days. It's a real shame.
They don't really mean anything to me either (they don't effect my tastes), but I think perhaps it's because most of the bigger ones have gotten way more political and it's harder for certain actors to recognized due to trends, but I do think award shows should be important and/or could in theory be a great way to promote great films and television and for them to come together and celebrate with each other all the hard work that goes into it.
I'm glad though we do have things like People's Choice and SAG awards though. Most of the time, they're fairly well rounded.
Yvonne has been one of my favorite guess cast on Dexter. I really hope the spin off might feature her, because I feel strongly that she has what it takes to pull off her own series in similar fashion. (and I hope all you Chuck fans get your Chuck movie sometime too!)
This! I think the poll was good one, because we realized that there are diff definitions of being unrecognized/underrated and we've had some nice discussions about.
Maggie Q. Rarely has a show's success - or lack thereof, given Nikita's stunningly low ratings - been so disproportionate to its quality in general, and the acting in particular. Whether it's kickass action, intense drama and emotion or even witty comedy, Maggie shines every time and creates the compelling heroine the show revolves around. It is truly a shame that she and the rest of Nikita's excellent cast don't get the recognition they deserve, because the show flies largely under the radar. I hope she (or Lyndsy) and the show at least win the Teen Choice Awards this year.
I didn't watch most of Fringe, but I decided to give my second vote to John Noble. From the little I've seen and everything I've heard, he was wonderful as Walter Bishop, and the fact that he was snubbed of awards because of Fringe's lack and publicity and sci-fi nature really sucks.
I liked him in Dark Angel, but too bad it got cancelled after only two seasons! :-( But I don't think Jensen is underrated. People know he's talented. I haven't seen anyone underrate him.
I just don't think he has enough exposure yet. Maybe he isn't underrated to people that know him and have seen what he's done, but I think he could be easily overlooked by someone not familiar with him because he isn't some huge name. And that makes me sad.
Maggie Q for sure! I love Nikita and disappointed that it is ending without even half a season order. She does pretty much all her own stunts and plays such an emotional character.
Many responses got downvoted here, not just Supernatural. People need to stop taking downvotes personally. It simply means someone doesn't agree with your choices. It's not an attack.
Having followed Jared since his Gilmore Girl years, to see how he's grown as an actor has been a privilege. I'm at a point where I don't think there's is anything he can't play brilliantly!
Where did you get that i think its an attack or I take it personally! I am a grown up and am not going to get upset just because someone does not like what I said. i was just commenting that the main choices being downvoted were the Supernatural actors! I am hardly going to take it personally that people want to downvote what I say.
Cobie IS DEFINITELY underrated, she is an amazing actress and I don't think she gets enough recognition for that, even Michael Ausiello said in 2009 that she was the most underrated actress on TV...
Jensen Ackles in Supernatural!! Also Timothy Olyphant in Justified! I voted for Joel Kinnaman though. I think he's great and very underrated, and he's swedish just like me so he's got my vote :D
Agree to disagree...I think she is great, but I think the rest of the cast of HIMYM is great as well. I will admit that I think she probably has more range than most of the other cast members, though.
Perhaps Mads is a bit under rate for Hannibal but he's a very established actor, especially in his home country - just because you didn't know about him it doesn't mean no one else does. Many people became fans from Casino Royale. I recommend you watch more of his work.
Jensen Ackles is the most underrated actor on TV today. His talent had improved by leaps & bounds since his time on Days of Our Lives. He was nominated three times for a Daytime Emmy back then, yet now that he's infinitely better, nothing... Ackles can do an emotional scene so well-a subtle change in facial expression can show the audience exactly what his character is feeling. And he is also fantastic at comedy. Dude is funny as well. It's unfortunate that such an amazing actor gets so little recognition. I blame the fact that the Emmy & Golden Globe voters constantly overlook genre shows like Supernatural, no matter how fantastic they can be. Jensen Ackles certainly deserves more recognition for his acting than he gets.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Kristin Kreuk as Catherine - Beauty and the beast :)
ReplyDeleteJensen Ackles as Dean Winchester..Supernatural
ReplyDeleteJohn Noble as Walter Bishop - Fringe
Tatiana from Orphan Black.
ReplyDeleteUnder-rated is an interesting question as I think some of those on the list are already highly rated. No one can argue that the likes of John Noble and Tatiana Maslany for example are not already considered as being great at what they do, so therefore are not underated at all.

ReplyDeleteJohn Noble, Mads and Tatiana!
ReplyDeleteCastle fans won't be happy - Stana Katic isn't on the list
ReplyDeleteThat did make me laugh, no Supernatural either!
ReplyDeleteJohn Noble as Walter bishop. He needed some credit. Amazing acting.
ReplyDeleteAlso the kid who plays Joffrey on game of thrones (sorry, I don't remember his name) but he is really amazing. You just hate him. I think he's incredible
you know what they say about Justified, either you're obsessed or you've never heard of it
ReplyDeleteDJ Qualls as Billy Nugent on Legit.
ReplyDeleteJohn Noble of course ! The man played 8 different amazing version of the same character (correct me if I'm wrong, but 8 seems ok to me, if we consider the past Walters as another version ...). He deserves more than what he's given ...
ReplyDeleteI voted for them not so much for being underrated but not always recognized. Nolan and Walter was my pick.
ReplyDeleteKinnaman and Noble (and I'd add Carlyle if I'd had a third vote), if underrated means they should have been nominated for Emmys by now, but haven't been for some odd reason.
ReplyDeleteThat would be my choices too.
ReplyDeleteTwo of my favorite actors.
Cobie _ understatement of the decade Smulders
ReplyDeleteRobert, I think he's one of the best characters on OUAT and has the best storylines and there isn't a moment where I don't go 'oh he's so good at playing this character' he is that good
I feel sorry for those who have never heard of it!
ReplyDeleteEven when it comes to an underrated actors/actresses list, Sandra Oh is always forgotten. She is the most underrated actress I have ever seen, she is brilliant, never fails when it comes to display the exact right emotions when needed. She makes Cristina Yang believable, and she's been doing it for 9 years. I believe she deserves some recognition.
ReplyDeleteJensen Ackles - he could play circles around most overrated TV-stars!
ReplyDeleteTatiana Maslany , of course
ReplyDeleteTy Burrell as Phil Dunphy!!
ReplyDeleteStana Katic is greatly underrated. She is a fabulous actress.
ReplyDeleteCote de Pablo, NCIS. 2nd Tatiana Maslany.
ReplyDeleteTaraji Henson - Joss Carter from Person of Interest. The whole cast goes together well but there's a lot of subtleties to Carter's character such as she's learning how much into a gray area she has to go to help people and fight corruption.
ReplyDeleteSilas Weir Mitchell - Monroe from Grimm.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to pick from this list I'd probably go with Guillermo Diaz. If he played the same character on a show like Homeland he would've gotten an Emmy by now, whereas he is only considered a good supporting actor on Scandal. (and he is getting absolutely horrible and incredibly simple roles on other shows)
Jonny Lee Miller or Lucy Liu from Elementary, they both do such a great job on that show
ReplyDeleteMine would have to be Jaime Murray (Defiance, Dexter Season 2), Katie McGrath (Merlin, Dracula), and Zoie Palmer (The Guard, Lost Girl)!
ReplyDeleteThis isn't a competition. Robert Carlyle is AMAZING! He plays every aspect of his character brilliantly and owns OUAT. Rumpelstiltskin could easily be a caricature but instead he's layered and the most profound person in the cast.
ReplyDeleteJohn Nobel and Anna Torv. While were at it i'll add the rest of the cast of FRINGE! They were superb in their rolls,as were the writers, directors, and the Showrunners! I could go on .......
ReplyDeleteTatiana Maslany!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think that's part of the problem with this poll. Robert Carlyle is a very good actor and he's been called so multiple times, just watch Trainspotting to know exactly how good he is. My point being I'm not sure how he can ever be considered underrated.
ReplyDeleteTatiana Malany and Madds Mikelsen are amazing but I don't think they are underrated
ReplyDeleteTatiana Maslany and Joel Kinman
ReplyDeleteJared Padalecki comes to mind straight away but there are so many who never get any kind of appreciation/recogniction for their amazing work.
ReplyDeletehas actually won and been nomitaed for several big awards so not really underated
ReplyDeleteCobie Smulders and as the Other option:
ReplyDeleteLauren Graham. She was fantastic in Gilmore Girls and rocks Parenthood as well.
and I have to give Cote de Pablo an honorable mention! She wasn't a superb actress in the beginning, but she has grown into a great one. Fantastic in comedic and dramatic scenes.
ReplyDeleteHe's completely underrated in America. Scotland seems to recognize him as a brilliant actor (and he's been nominated for several BAFTAs) but most Americans have no idea who he is and his work on OUAT has been completely ignored (and it's seriously brilliant).
ReplyDeleteOut of this list Emmy Rossum. She should've been nominated for 2 Emmys already.
ReplyDeleteHow about a top five?
ReplyDelete1. John Noble - Walter Bishop(s) - FRINGE
2. Tatiana Maslany - Multiple Clones/Twins - Orphan Black
3. Mads Mikkelson - Hannibal Lecter - Hannibal
4. Robert Carlyle - Rumple/Mr. Gold - OUAT
5. Olivia Munn - Sloane Sabbith - The Newsroom
Honorable Mentions:
Michael Shannon - N. Van Alden - Boardwalk Empire
Michael Kenneth Williams - Chalky White - Boardwalk Empire
Amy Acker - Person of Interest
David Zayas - Sgt. Angel Batista - Dexter
Kristen Bower van Stratan - Pamela S.B. - True Blood
I could go on with guess stars, but I think that should be saved for another poll!
Very good list.
ReplyDeleteTrainspotting rules.
ReplyDeletesry, but what do you mean by underrated? do you mean not being recognized at the awards or not getting enough good reviews even though they deserve them? Because Robert Carlyle for example gets a lot of praise, just no noms.
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of the "better" actors are recognized by critics and their peers for the supreme talents that they are, but they all too often escape the masses notice. There is a reason most awards have been one by cable or premium cable actors in the last decade or two.
ReplyDeleteActors like Timothy Olyphant, Walton Goggins, Donal Noye, Katey Sagal, Margo Martindale, Tatiana Maslany etc...
One other name I'd like to add is Paula Malcomson!
I think she is one of the best actresses around and usually goes unnoticed by the majority of viewers.
Anna Torv
ReplyDeleteJohn Noble
Based on how the Academy is dishing things out, def Michelle Fairley & Tatiana Maslany. Their lack of a nom borders on criminal IMO.
ReplyDeleteYeah cos anyone who's comparing Stana Katic or SPN to TM or JN is kidding themselves
ReplyDeleteShe is really an incredible actress. I keep hoping she'll get a really good kick-butt role one of these days, but all of her roles thus far have been emotionally compelling.
ReplyDeleteJensen Ackles-Supernatural.
ReplyDeleteI think she's a really good actress (this role is night and day from The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), but I feel the POI writers have kept her on a leash. I agree she's a great character to look through the gray from (so often are Bad Robot characters), but I would like to them to write her a more of a distinctive arc and maybe get more into that military background...
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
ReplyDeleteHer role on Ray Donovan should get a look or two, but I wonder if it will have enough meat to really get a sincere consideration for a nomination. Maybe her role has expanded since I stopped watching RD (I'm letting a few episodes accrue to watch in marathon form), but from the first few I watched her role seemed to be secondary to the brothers Donovan and Mickey.
That's how I feel too.
ReplyDeleteShe is talented and capable of giving an incredible performance when she has great material to work with, but on a number of shows I have seen her on she comes of a little 2-dimensional or obvious. POI being one of those roles where she is not doing her best work IMO.
Rumpelstiltskin is the only reason i watch OUAP for as long as i did
ReplyDeleteI have missed an episode do to time warner issues, but there's def still potential for substance, but it's kind of been on the same path with her.
ReplyDelete-Which reminds me Elliott Gould's role (Ezra) got more interesting and might be worthy of Emmy down the line.
Agreed on Gould.
ReplyDeleteI think almost every performance on that show is awesome.
ReplyDeleteSarah Rafferty as Donna, for sure. She's amazing every week, but I think she can get lost in the glow of the show's two leads (who are also, admittedly, fantastic). I also think John Noble was underrated to everyone that wasn't a huge Fringe fan. He was absolute perfection.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see where Jensen's career takes him after Supernatural. I didn't know of him before but now I can't imagine him absent from my TV. He has such an amazing depth of emotion that he brings week in and week out, no matter what the situation. Here's hoping others have taken notice, too!
ReplyDeleteRobert Carlyle? Underrated? Bitch please - everyone knows how amazing he is, have you seen The Full Monty?! - but I love Olivia Munn, she does not get nearly enough screen time.
ReplyDeleteJohn Noble, of course!
ReplyDeleteFollowed by Tatiana Maslany, Cobie Smulders and Gabriel Mann
Everyone but Emmy nominators...
ReplyDeleteI def think Anna Torv proved herself greatly with her 5-way doppelgangers, but I think the writers gave her the short hand of the stick during the final season by not really spelling out to the audience what ever was going on with her character.
ReplyDeleteWell I think that's part of my point about subtlety. The episode "Get Carter" showed exactly what we needed to know Carter, she's a black and white person who's surrounded only by shades of gray and it's getting to her.
ReplyDeleteWhen Carter was chasing John she wanted him arrested and on trial and found the only end result to capturing him was his execution which began her realization that she had to choose between the shades of gray.
:-) Yes it does!
ReplyDeleteThat's a good point.
ReplyDeleteHe's so subtle. He doesn't move much so every eye crinkle or mouth twitch makes an impact.
ReplyDeleteIt's not a mystery. Emmy sucks balls, it is known. They haven't had anything funny winning comedy nomination for years. All the winners are usually trending shows.
ReplyDeleteYou are excactly right. It has great dialog and ALL of the characters are interesting, even the smaller roles. They do an amazing job casting the actors, ofcourse that is why they get nominated for the guest preformences, but Goggins and Olyphant really deserves a nom aswell.
ReplyDeleteYa,i agree they could of handled her better,Anna dealing with finding her daughther once again, then losing her daughter so shortly after. That and not having many episodes left to work out all that was needed.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they should not have killed Etta, this way Anna had the freedom to be herself and do want she did best.KICKED ASS,Obersevers ASS!
My pleasure. As much as I love the entire cast of character on POI and how giddy I am that Amy Acker is now a main cast member (She's like a zealot/tech junkie version of Kelly Payton from Alias!), I think Carter stands out as the true gem of the show.
ReplyDeletesome real good choices here, but I'm going to go with the always outstanding John Noble, and the very surprising Maggie Q - very easy to forget that she's anything but action and badassery, but she really surprised me with the many shades of emotion, and vulnerability that she's imbued Nikita with. also on my list would be Micheal Cudlitz, Mads M, Joel Kinnaman, and the revelation that was Tatiana Maslany
ReplyDeleteTatiana Maslany of course!!
ReplyDeletehe didn't get any recognition for rumplestiltskin and he deserves it more than anyone else in the cast.
ReplyDeleteIf you have not seen Jensen in Ten Inch Hero, pick it up, he is so good in it. I rented it from netflix, but then bought it.
ReplyDeleteDon't think she's underrated.
ReplyDeleteNorman Reedus- The Walking Dead
ReplyDeleteEveryone and their mother love Tatiana but I think I'll show my support for her Emmy snub....
ReplyDeleteJohn Noble is also always stellar!
ReplyDeleteFor me it was more of not delving into her choice of not being very maternal toward's Etta in 2015 to begin with.
ReplyDeleteMaggie Q as Nikita, Anna Torv as all the Olivia's, John Noble as all the Walter Bishops, Alison Brie as Annie (mostly whole cast of community), Jennifer Carpenter as Deb, Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester, Elizabeth Mitchell as Juliet Burke (im glad she has a role in revolution although i dont watch that series)
ReplyDeleteI won't argue about Stana, because even though I think she's good, I don't consider her left out.
ReplyDeleteBut SPN is a different story....
But anyone can argue Emmy voters are not a worthy point of reference. I know it still has prestige, but I think we now live at an age where audiences now know Emmys are a bit of a joke...
ReplyDeleteEmily VanCamp is underrated, because she's really excellent!
ReplyDeleteMatt Bomer...everyone is just paying attention to his looks, but he has impressive range
ReplyDeleteI kind of was half Joking, because a lot of these actors are well known and liked, but their TV ROLES aren't appreciated, especially in the States sinse outside of people's choice and SAG, this is really their only official public recognition (although I think some make it to Golden Globes), but for the actors it's really not a joke. They probably get more roles, if they win an Emmy and TV is really more impressive, than some films now. For us, yes the Emmy's can be a joke, because so many do not get recognized.
ReplyDeleteWinning awards means nothing to me personally... look at Potter - internationally loved, the best British cast under 3 generations, stunning visual effects, yet not one precious Oscar. Awards are not everything, I would have a hard time finding anyone in England, better yet the North (where I live) who could fault Carlyle in the slightest.
ReplyDeleteI like Rumplestiltskin, even hes so annoying sometimes
ReplyDeleteRobert Carlyle as Rumplestiltskin (Once upon a time) and Anson Mount as Cullen Bohannon (Hell on Wheels)
ReplyDeleteJensen Ackles definitely. Very good actor who can convey a whole range of emotions without saying a word.
ReplyDeleteI never said they didn't give exceptional performances. But Tatiana Maslany level of exceptional? I think not.
ReplyDeleteThis list had 3 very underrated actors/actresses, at least in the critics/awards eyes:
ReplyDeleteJohn Noble - Fringe (gave some of the finest performances I've ever seen)
Tatiana Maslany - Orphan Black (seamlessly created a variety of characters, giving them their own identities)
Emmy Rossum - Shameless (powerful, best way to describe her, particularly in scenes with William H Macy)
Those 3 are some of the finest actors/actresses I've ever had the pleasure to watch on a screen.
I would disagree... especially about Jensen.
ReplyDeleteAnd that is why Jensen is underrated while Tatiana is not.
Jennifer Carpenter and I'd say Yvonne Strahovski, but she did win a saturn and while she was never really rewarded for some of her excellent work on Chuck, she was praised by many critics for it.
ReplyDeleteIts amazing so many people don't know what underrated means. If the show and character is popular then they are not underrated. I'm looking at you, people who voted for Robert Carslyle. He's amazing, but he is anything but underrated.
ReplyDeleteThis poll is pointless when half of these people don't fit the criteria..
No he's not underrated here. People know who he is. Whether it be from Stargate, OUAT, 28 Weeks Later, etc. We know who he is. Especially the genre fans.
ReplyDeleteGenre fans sure. But I can't count the amount of people who said "Robert who?" when I told them I was a big fan. A handful of people remember him in the Full Monty but most people I know didn't know anything about his work.
ReplyDeleteJustin Chambers!
ReplyDeleteWell he's more well-known than half the people on this list and the most critically acclaimed, and that's really all that matters when you are trying to see who is the most underrated.
ReplyDeletehe praised by audience (and totally deserve it) but completely ignored by ''professionals''. what make it worse far less talented ouat cast members get recognition and nominations. underrated he is.
ReplyDeleteunderrated is not the same as unknown.
ReplyDeleteFrom this year.
ReplyDeleteAden Young - Rectify
Emmy Rossum - Shameless
Tatiana Maslany - Orphan Black
Matthew Rhys - The Americans
Timothy Olyphant - Justified
Walton Goggins - Justified
Noah Emmerich - The Americans
Keri Russell - The Americans
Corey Stoll - House of Cards
Michael K. Williams - Boardwalk Empire
Jim Rash - Community
Joel Kinnaman - The Killing
Michelle Fairley - Game of Thrones
Nikolaj Coster Waldau - Game of Thrones
Adam Scott - Parks And Rec
Chris Pratt - Parks And Rec
Kim Coates - Sons of Anarchy
....and i got more.
ReplyDeleteWhere exactly did Jensen turn in work that comes close to what Tatiana Maslany does?
ReplyDeleteJohn Noble as Walter Bishop (Fringe)
ReplyDeleteMads Mikkelsen as Dr. Lecter (Hannibal)
thus he is underrated.
ReplyDeleteI get it. You just don't understand what underrated means, Either that or your a die hard fan of the actor.
ReplyDeleteIf he was underrated he wouldn't be the most talked about part of practically every project he's been in.
ReplyDeleteCompared to the other actors and actresses on this list it does. You can't deny that at all.
ReplyDeleteThis guy has been on American broadcast tv, American cable tv, he's been in theaters in movies such as 28 Weeks Later, James Bond, and a few others. He's not as unrecognized and underrated as you seem to think he is.
Timothy Olyphant - Raylan Givens
ReplyDeleteyou voted mads mikkelsen. he doesn't get fans recognition? bitch please.
ReplyDeletehis current work as rumplestiltskin is extremely underrated and needs more professional recognition. many people agree on that. end of story.
ReplyDeleteIf underrated means robbed of Emmy love, then John Noble for sure. If it means "not recognized as a great talent because of the show they are on" then Jensen Ackles is top on my list. I don't find Willie Garson underrated on White Collar and he still has acclaim from his Sex and the City days, so although he plays my favorite character on this list, he just misses getting my vote.
ReplyDeleteThese are my two as well. Both have done a beautiful job portraying complex men.
ReplyDeletePerformance wise, every week for the last 8 years.
ReplyDeleteBut if you're talking specifically about versatility and multiple characters: Skin, Tall Tales, In The End, Dream a Little Dream of me, It's a Terrible Life, Yellow Fever, When the Leeve Breaks, Live Free of Twihard, Slash Fiction....
ReplyDeleteOff topic, wanted to let you know I am LOVING Jared in Gilmore Girls, but even when he is not in an ep I am still hooked. Super writing, witty dialog, what is not to love. lol Thanks for talking me into this.
ReplyDeleteHere's my list ( These are the ones I can remember, I'm sure there are so many that I can't) :
ReplyDelete- Joel Kinnaman - Det. Stephen Holder (The Killing)
- Walton Goggins - Boyd Crowder (Justified)
- Timothy Olyphant - Raylan Givens(Justified)
- Kristen Bower van Stratan - Pam (True Blood)
- Rutina Wesley - Tara Thornton (True Blood)
- Ryan Kwanten - Jason Stackhouse (True Blood)
* *P.S 1: Actually, I'd say Nelson Ellis as Lafayette from True Blood but I don't think he is underrated**
- Gabriel Mann - Nolan Ross (Revenge)
- Emily VanCamp - Emily Thorne/Amanda Clarke (Revenge)
- Evan Peters - Tate Langdon / Kit Walker (American Horror Story)
- Lily Rabe - Sister Mary (American Horror Story)
- Sarah Rafferty - Donna (Suits)
- Gabriel Macht- Harvey Specter (Suits)
- Rick Hoffman - Louis Litt (Suits)
- Alan Cumming- Eli Gold (The Good Wife)
- Archie Panjabi - Kalinda Sharma (The Good Wife)
- Taraji P. Henson- Det. Joss Carter (Person of Interest)
- Kim Coates - Alex "Tig" Trager (Sons of Anarchy)
- François Arnaud - Cesare Borgia (The Borgias)
*P.S : Mads Mikkelsen is underrated?! Come on ! :)
I notice that anyone who says either Jensen or Jared for Supernatural is getting voted down. That is very sad, the fact that there are people who will vote comments down just because they are about Supernatural!
ReplyDeletePretty much the whole cast of Parenthood and Shameless
ReplyDeleteI voted Mads for the following reasons:
ReplyDelete1.
ReplyDeleteSomething I"m realizing is the that the "underrated" part isn't being specific.
ReplyDeleteMost people vote down any CW show.
They probably get more roles, if they win an Emmy and TV is really more impressive than some films now a days."
ReplyDelete- I know, it's why I said, it still has prestige.
ReplyDeleteThey don't really mean anything to me either (they don't effect my tastes), but I think perhaps it's because most of the bigger ones have gotten way more political and it's harder for certain actors to recognized due to trends, but I do think award shows should be important and/or could in theory be a great way to promote great films and television and for them to come together and celebrate with each other all the hard work that goes into it.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad though we do have things like People's Choice and SAG awards though.
ReplyDeleteThis! I think the poll was good one, because we realized that there are diff definitions of being unrecognized/underrated and we've had some nice discussions about.
ReplyDeleteAgreed I think she'd be great in her own series. Lol, the Chuck movie (as cool as it would be) is unfortunately a naive dream.
ReplyDeleteMy top choice is definitely John Noble! Others would be Maggie Q, Tatiana Maslany, and Hugh Dancy.
ReplyDeleteJennifer Carpenter as Debra Morgan - Dexter
ReplyDeleteI have! Netflix recommended it to me after my over-consumption of Supernatural. He's fabulous in it.
ReplyDeleteTATIANA MASLANY
ReplyDeleteMaggie Q.
ReplyDeleteI didn't watch most of Fringe, but I decided to give my second vote to John Noble. From the little I've seen and everything I've heard, he was wonderful as Walter Bishop, and the fact that he was snubbed of awards because of Fringe's lack and publicity and sci-fi nature really sucks.
Charlie McDermott as Axl? Charlie is not a good actor. Eden Sher however...
ReplyDeleteMads Mikkelsen Hannibal
ReplyDeleteI liked him in Dark Angel, but too bad it got cancelled after only two seasons! :-(
ReplyDeleteBut I don't think Jensen is underrated. People know he's talented. I haven't seen anyone underrate him.
Maggie Q as Nikita - Nikita
ReplyDeleteI just don't think he has enough exposure yet. Maybe he isn't underrated to people that know him and have seen what he's done, but I think he could be easily overlooked by someone not familiar with him because he isn't some huge name. And that makes me sad.
ReplyDeleteNow I see what you mean and I agree with you.
ReplyDeleteMaggie Q for sure! I love Nikita and disappointed that it is ending without even half a season order. She does pretty much all her own stunts and plays such an emotional character.
ReplyDeleteMany responses got downvoted here, not just Supernatural. People need to stop taking downvotes personally. It simply means someone doesn't agree with your choices. It's not an attack.
ReplyDeleteHaving followed Jared since his Gilmore Girl years, to see how he's grown as an actor has been a privilege. I'm at a point where I don't think there's is anything he can't play brilliantly!
ReplyDeleteAgreed. He's is easily the most dismissed yet one of the more talented and subtle actors on the Grey's cast.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get that i think its an attack or I take it personally! I am a grown up and am not going to get upset just because someone does not like what I said. i was just commenting that the main choices being downvoted were the Supernatural actors! I am hardly going to take it personally that people want to downvote what I say.
ReplyDelete" including have more categories (like cable and network maybe having different cat.) or allowing for larger nominations list,"
ReplyDeleteActually I think larger nominations list is not a good idea. But expanding categories certainly would help!
Sandra Oh for me on Greys. Sensational acting.
ReplyDeleteCobie IS DEFINITELY underrated, she is an amazing actress and I don't think she gets enough recognition for that, even Michael Ausiello said in 2009 that she was the most underrated actress on TV...
ReplyDeleteJensen Ackles in Supernatural!!
ReplyDeleteAlso Timothy Olyphant in Justified!
ReplyDeletePerhaps Mads is a bit under rate for Hannibal but he's a very established actor, especially in his home country - just because you didn't know about him it doesn't mean no one else does. Many people became fans from Casino Royale. I recommend you watch more of his work.
ReplyDeleteother, my vote goes for Hugh Dancy who's not included in this list.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte Sullivan as Gail Peck - Rookie Blue
ReplyDeleteShe's amazing!
