    I have to laugh at Elena Gilbert even being in the poll. Oh sure, someone will totally relate to personalityless, bland characterless mary sue who does not react to ANYTHING around her unless its romance related.


    Anyway, none of the list, but i'll have to go with Buffy. S5, especially Joyce's death storyline can resonate with me a lot, considering I lost a close family member to cancer too and everything in it, including with how reactions to the death were handled felt so real and tangible and depressing. And then S6 came and I yet again could relate with the whole idea of entering adulthood, as well as the depression she suffered from.

    kate beckett because she is strong, intelligent, a vivid reader (important for me), into sports, has a great body (yeah my girl crush thingie), fights her own wars and has a nice taste in men - josh was nice looking but castle it is, of course (my real crush when it comes to shows). and has a troubled past, which makes her one of hte most interesting characters ever created, in my opinion. we so dont know a lot baout her past, only small pieces but those are really really interesting.

    As a guy, I'm not really sure I should be answering this question but what the hell.
    Maybe I'm being biased since One Tree Hill is one of the first shows I watched in its entirety, I went with Peyton Sawyer. I've always adored her love for music, her artsy side and how she defied stereotypes. She wasn't just a cheerleader, she wasn't just the girl who listened to rock music. She didn't really fit into any of the conventional cliques of high school, she was just kinda part of everything. She was angry and mean but eventually got around once she started spending time with the right people. Most of that can be applied to my years in high school.

    Olivia Dunham without doubt. She is one of the most important reasons for my enjoyment of Fringe. I've never understood law enforcement women wearing high heels (like Kate Beckett), Olivia's clothing sutis better to the warrior against evil she is. She's not into partying and having fun or just trying to be beautiful; she's about doing her job the best she can and protecting innocent people. And then she does care about her coworkers and is also able to love and have fun, but just not as her primary goal.


    I'm really inspired by her, and rarely even feel close to any other woman portrayed on tv.

    Robin and Rachel are the two I most identify with Robin with her emotions and finding who she is and what she wants. And, Rachel because she was a bit lost in the beginning of the show and I'm kind of lost and trying to find who I am and what I want out of life, career and such.

    If I related to Elena Gilbert, I'd probably want to kill myself, so it's a good thing I don't. I think Caroline is a much better choice from TVD, she comes off as a real person rather than a Mary Sue being shoved down your throat.

    ...but mostly I;m just me, and there's not really a character who is a lot like me in personality, or whom I can related to well, on TV.

    Total word about Elena. I wouldn't want anything to do with someone like her, let alone relate to her. This girl is literally interested in nothing except having men worship at her altar - the same men who raped, abused, tried to kill and whatnot her brother and her friends. Characters like her set the women's movement back a century.

    I'm with you on Elena. She's dating the guy who turned her mother into a vampire, killed her father, killed her step-father/guardian twice, killed her brother, tried to kill her two best friends and had previously raped and abused one of her friends.

    I also can't stand how hypocritical Elena has become and I really started to notice it in Season 3 and Season 4 was just a total character assassination.

    Other: Alicia Florrick (The Good Wife) - character-wise, she's the person I most relate to, and I believe that under the specific circumstances, I would react the same way she does. I'm 21 and, naturally, I haven't had the same experiences, but I do share a lot of character traits with her - rational, emotional, compassionate, flexible, passionate about the things I believe in, fiercely protective of my loved ones, I value loyalty and I can't forgive betrayal easily, I don't like being manipulated or told what I can or can't do etc.

    P.S: And I must say, the show has been quite an inspiration, it's one of the reasons I decided to go to Law school. :D

    I'm still stunned by the fact that so many fangirls are handwaving all the shit Damon's pulled because "he's so hot", and then turn around and say stuff like "Bonnie is a judgmental bitch, and she got lots of people killed when she didn't deactivate the Gilbert device! I hate her!".

    Apparently, when it comes to the CW crowd at least - if you're male (and attractive), you can literally get away with murder (they refuse to even define what Damon did to Caroline, actually). If you're female, every little thing you do will be nitpicked to death and blown out of proportion.

    That's what happens when you have great abs and a bad boy persona. These girls bury the horrible stuff and the moment he shows a glimpse of humanity that turns into their entire argument for why he is the hottest sweetest must deserving person to walk the planet. I really hope they grow out of that because no one in their right mind would have gone near Damon after everything his done, only Elena but we know she's not functional. And the Cw is really irresponsible. They know very well the demographic that watches their shows and they still send this type of message that impressionable naive teenage girls are internalizing. I mean how many girls out there don't think that Damon is what a man should be be? To the man out there, that is not the type of behavior and attitude women want to see in man.
