The SpoilerTV Favourite TV Series Competition 2013 - Day 11 - Castle vs. Smash & Scandal vs. Sherlock
2 Aug 2013
2013 TV Series Competition Cancelled Shows Castle Scandal SherlockHi folks,
In the previous round, we saw comfortable victories for The Office and Fringe, ending Gossip Girl and Doctor Who's quest for the title before they really began. With Beauty & The Beast's early exit, the top half of Section Three has opened up for any of the remaining shows to do well in.
Today sees last years victor, Castle, begin the defence of the title against Smash in a battle that seems quite tough for the musical show. In the second battle, Scandal takes on Sherlock, in a poll that is quite tough to call. Critically loved in its second season, Smash is gathering a lot of momentum, whilst Sherlock has hidden in the shadows without a new episode since January 2013.
For anyone who missed the rules, here they are again:
1) Two shows will go into battle in a poll, where after exactly 24 hours, the leading show will win the battle and will progress into the next round.
2) Vote for you favourite, spread the word with your friends & fans.
3) Comment on what you voted for on in the comments below.
4) Have fun. This is a friendly & competitive competition.
Here we go...
Castle vs. Smash
Scandal vs. Sherlock
The Draw
Enjoy the battle folks.
Don't forget to Facebook, Tweet, and share the poll with your friends! The more people that you get to vote, the better chance your favourites will win!
Also, make sure you come back tomorrow for the next stage as Alias takes on the resurrected 24, whilst Angel challenges Body of Proof.
Here we go,
Adam

It's all about Sherlock for me today, a real top quality TV show!
ReplyDelete2 easy choices, Castle and Sherlock
ReplyDeleteEasy choices today, Castle and Sherlock.
ReplyDeleteCan see both shows winning by a large amount of votes.
1st Poll: No vote, don't watch either show.
ReplyDelete2nd Poll: Scandal, it has become one of my favorite shows and I'm glad it's doing so well.
It's irrelevant who wins between Scandal and Sherlock because Castle will destroy either of them in the next round
ReplyDeletePoll one was easy, Castle, the second one was harder as both are excellent shows. I went with Scandal because it has more eps to love, but will be just as happy with Sherlock winning.
ReplyDeleteGiven the rounds we've had castle should have been paired with a heavier show. Obviously its gonna make it to round 2 but why not give it a little fight instead of a free pass with smash
ReplyDeleteeasy: Castle and Sherlock
ReplyDeleteVery very easy for me...Sherlock all the way!! I voted for Castle as well but i can't say i really care about that poll as much...
ReplyDeletePossibly the easiest poll so far for me: Castle and Sherlock, by miles and miles. Particularly Sherlock, which I would probably choose over any other show in this competition.
ReplyDeleteThis one was a no brainer,i voted for Sherlock and Castle!
ReplyDeleteCastle in the first, Scandal in the second pool.
ReplyDeleteyes, it's a no brainer for me too! :)
ReplyDeleteI love Scandal but quality-wise Sherlock is much better
ReplyDeleteSherlock's my favourite show too
ReplyDeleteStrange...I wonder why our choices coincide...lol
ReplyDeleteCastle and Sherlock, easy :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a tough choice, couldn't make up my mind. It took me the longest time to decide, all of a nano second,ha!
ReplyDeleteSherlock. One of the best tv series I've seen.
ReplyDeleteAdam, how could you pit Alias against 24? That is pure torture! Its a crime i say,ha!
ReplyDeleteCastle and Sherlock!
ReplyDeleteSherlock of course!
ReplyDeleteEasy for me today, Sherlock and Castle
ReplyDeleteCastle for me on this one!
ReplyDeleteEasy, Castle and Sherlock.
ReplyDeleteI guess it was because with its fanbase on spoilertv, Castle would have probably beaten 90% of the shows in the competition, and they wanted as many popular shows as possible to make it to round to. For instance, if Sherlock was against Castle, one of them wouldn't make it to the next round, and a weaker show, like Smash, or 90210 would, for lack of competition. That wouldn't be fair. At least, for me, it wouldn't seem right to see Smash, 90210, Gossip Girl, etc. above Castle or Sherlock in the final ranking.
ReplyDeleteI believe the drawing of the matches was totally random. Adam will correct me if I'm wrong.
ReplyDeleteWow,smash is taking a pounding.!!
ReplyDeleteLove Sherlock but Scandal is incredibly underrated. Kerry Washington is an absolute delight to watch.
ReplyDeleteCastle and Sherlock !
ReplyDeleteI don't watch either of the first two show's, but for the second Scandal all the way. I love Sherlock, but I'm more invested in the Scandal fandom.
ReplyDeleteCastle and one of my new favorite show Scandal
ReplyDeleteScandal for me today. I no longer watch Castle, never did watch Smash, and couldn't stand the premiere of Sherlock. However I was persuaded to watch Scandal because it created major wars on TVbtN. Once I started watching it was impossible to stop. That show is seriously addicting and it isn't even anything I would have thought I'd like. I can see why it became so popular.
ReplyDeleteGenerally in bracket play the strongest goes against the weakest in order to make the tournament progressively more entertaining. That's how it works for sports tournaments. When placing shows for ranking in this one, the top 8 nominated shows were strategically placed so they could not meet until the quarter finals, according to Adam's first post. Since it was likely that Castle was in that top 8, it naturally is against a lesser nominated show. All of which makes for a much more exciting contest in the later rounds.
ReplyDeleteOnly Sherlock for me.
ReplyDeleteFor me...NO CONTEST. Scandal is the CLEAR and ONLY choice!
ReplyDeleteI love both Castle and Smash, but for very different reasons. Smash lost me in season 2, so Castle it is!
ReplyDeleteScandal!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is until it's Castle vs. Sherlock.
ReplyDeleteI don't know which one I'd vote for in that event - love them both!
Think Scandal fans are cheating. Only 339 people voted in the poll for the last episode of Scandal, and nearly twice that amount have voted in this poll, only a few hours after if being posted.
ReplyDeleteNo one is cheating.
ReplyDeleteThe poll got tweeted out by a couple of very large scandal twitter accounts.
Yup, even Kerry Washington retweeted it.
ReplyDeleteYep, I just saw that. She has nearly a million followers lol
ReplyDeleteHas there ever been any other celebrities that have tweeted about their shows in this competition in the past? Castiel from Supernatural tweeted something about SpoilerTV a few years back didn't he?
ReplyDeleteYes, quite a few have over the years. Most of them were last year when twitter was becoming more and more popular.
ReplyDeletePlenty of actors, writers and crew from various shows etc.
Scandal...never a boring moment
ReplyDeleteHe's had some great shows facing off in round one.
ReplyDeleteSide not: Personally I would have liked it more if in round one the shows were grouped more according to genre. Like instead of having comdies are against dramas have all the comdies against comdies, as much as possible.
How exactly is the amount of votes from the last episode poll relevant for this competition?
ReplyDeleteHannibal had 221 but got 1150 votes the other day, does that mean that they cheated too? The episode polls are irrelevant and have no influence on the outcome of this competition.
To be honest, I think you're just being a bad sport because Scandal might actually beat Sherlock.
I would do it strictly by how many nominations something gets - no guess work and absolutely fair. I do not see the need to divide it by comedy and drama or by current or past shows.
ReplyDeleteBeth Riesgraf and Dean Devlin from Leverage tweeted about the contest this year, but it was right when the contest was ending.
ReplyDeleteAll it takes it to be picked up by one influential fan page or tumblr and a show can get a lot of votes in very little time. No cheating, just smart fans.
ReplyDeleteCastle, ALWAYS
ReplyDeleteCastle, of course :)
ReplyDeletevery easy votes for me today: Castle and Sherlock by very large margins
ReplyDeleteCastle and Scandal
ReplyDeleteCastle and Scandal. Easy choice for me, since I've never watched Smash or Sherlock.
ReplyDeleteActually, that's still easy for me.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I enjoy watching Castle, Sherlock is one of my all-time favorites!
This is easy. I have never seen Smash and while I do not LOOVE castle like a lot of others here, I like it quite a lot, so it is an easy Castle. The second one is also a no brainer. I have watched the first episode of Sherlock and I liked what I saw but Scandal is one of my favorite shows on the air right now. Scandal all the way
ReplyDeleteHard: Rizzoli & Isles vs.Friends :O Love them both
ReplyDeleteOf course Castle is going to win. Smash would only have any chance at all against a show of the same (lack of) quality.
ReplyDeleteEasy pick, Castle & Sherlock.
ReplyDeleteEasy one today: Castle and Sherlock.
ReplyDeleteDidn't even have to think about it.
The only show I intend to watch is sherlock which is the vote.
ReplyDeleteCastle was an easy pick. Difficult time between Sherlock and Scandal. Scandal swayed me.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Scandal.
ReplyDeleteSo glad Scandal won
ReplyDeleteIt'll lose against Castle though which is too bad because I would have liked it to move to at least Round 3 before getting eliminated.
ReplyDeleteArgh, what a pity that Sherlock didn't pull though. If only Cumberbatch and/or Freeman and/or Gatiss had a Twitter account to retweet it to gather support.
ReplyDeleteYeah I know, its a shame that's its most likely not make it to round 3
ReplyDeleteHow to earn 300 us dollar per day its unbelievable but its work Hope to see you around here more often.== > www.Bay87.ℂom
