Dracula is coming to The Originals…sorta.
EW has learned exclusively that CW’s forthcoming Vampire Diaries spin-off, The Originals, has cast Supernatural alum Todd Stashwick, who fans of that show will recall played a Dracula-impersonating shapeshifter during season 4′s “Monster Movie.” The actor is set to recur in the role of Father Kieran starting in episode 4 of the show’s freshman season, which kicks off Oct 3.
“Kieran is a tortured Priest with a dark past,” executive producer Julie Plec says. ”Once a powerful and pragmatic diplomat between the humans and the various supernatural factions in New Orleans, he returns home looking for answers about a personal tragedy but finds a very different landscape than when he left.”
Stashwick also recently guest starred on an episode of Revolution last season as Drexel, a drug dealer and former associate of Miles (Billy Burke).
In related casting, EW can confirm news that some fans have been hoping for since The Originals was announced: Stashwick’s fellow Supernatural alum Sebastian Roche will reprise his role as Mikael, the patriarch of the Original Family. The character, first introduced in the third season of The Vampire Diaries, will appear in an episode early in the season.
