We should know in little over an hrs time.
Anyone shouting, ‘Is there a Doctor in the house?’ during tonight’s Doctor Who Live: The Next Doctor won’t be disappointed…
Peter Davison (the Fifth Doctor) will be there in person and Matt Smith (the current Doctor) and Colin Baker (the Sixth Doctor) will also be contributing.
The marvellous Bernard Cribbins (Wilfred Mott) will be there in person and there’ll be contributions from former companions including Anneke Wills (Polly), Katy Manning (Jo Grant), Janet Fielding (Tegan) and Bonnie Langford (Mel). Writer and actor Mark Gatiss also features in the show by way of a specially recorded video.
Celebrity fans in the studio include Rufus Hound, Liza Tarbuck and from Outnumbered, Daniel Roche. There’ll also be video contributions from Professor Robert Winston, Jo Whiley, Bruno Tonioli and following his appearance in The Power of Three, Professor Brian Cox.
And, of course, the next Doctor will be there…

Was hoping we would get a post for this. I've come to the sad conclusion that it will be another white male so with that in mind I wouldn't mind if it was Capaldi I do love him and having an older Doctor would be fine with me. If they go young again then Damien Molony would be a great choice.
ReplyDeleteIf I could have any actor regardless of availability/race/gender then Naveen Andrews would be amazing. Or Hayley Atwell.
Oh I love Hayley Atwell.. She was awesome in Pillars of the Earth.
ReplyDeleteI adore her, especially in Captain America. Now I'm really sad it won't happen!
ReplyDeleteBBC is running out of chances to cast female doctor or poc doctor.
ReplyDeleteSadly it will most likely be another white male teendream ala Matt Smith.
Yep if they don't do it this time it won't ever happen
ReplyDeleteI still am in awe that a casting announcement gets its own TV special. I don't think this has ever happened in the US. We probably should have had a poll for this.
ReplyDeleteHah I guess Who is just so big in the UK, not many shows reach 50 years and the British media goes crazy with it and it all adds up to this crazy moment.
ReplyDeleteDoctor Who is a legendary show, not many shows get fans excited worldwide and tv special just for announcing a new lead actor! :)
ReplyDeleteI think Sandi had a poll up when it was announced that Matt would be leaving.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I must have missed it. I only looked at the first page of Doctor Who threads.
ReplyDeleteI think it is fabulous that a character has captured the nation's attention so thoroughly that they make a big deal out it. Having such a long-term show, you also pull in a lot of generations that also makes it worthwhile to broadcast. Plus it's Doctor Who so awesomeness is implied.
ReplyDeleteIt really is, I grew up in the 80s when Who was treated pretty bad and ended up being cancelled, it amazes me to see it so well loved and such this huge thing these days.
ReplyDeleteA friend in college introduced me to Doctor Who and Dark Shadows in the 90's. I really got into it with Tennant though.
ReplyDeleteYeah it went up early June, here's the link in case you're interested http://www.spoilertv.com/2013/06/poll-doctor-who-who-do-you-want-to-be.html
ReplyDeleteI should start watching this show. I've heard it has a wide and rich universe, so I'll check it out.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I went back and found it after Andy mentioned it. Surprised Benedict won because wouldn't that mean there wouldn't be as much Sherlock? I figured people would want him to stick to his regular job.
ReplyDeletei think people just voted for actors they like, lol
ReplyDeleteHa! That is what typically happens. I like to think about the poll all the way through and sometimes am perplexed by the results because of that.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the few shows that I would say definitely do not start from the beginning. For me it is better to start with the reboot in 2005 when Eccleston was the ninth doctor. I was determined to watch it all chronologically, like I normally do, but my interest started waning until I skipped to the 9th doctor.
ReplyDeleteIt's Capaldi and I thought it would and told my daughter, weeks ago, that he would be perfect.
