As we mark
the 40th anniversary of
William Friedkin’s horror
classic The Exorcist this
year, a TV series take on
William Peter Blatty’s best
seller is brewing. I hear Morgan Creek, which has
the rights to the property, is shopping an Exorcist
drama series penned by hot young feature writer
Jeremy Slater . I hear there is interest in the
project from broadcast and cable networks. Roy
Lee, executive producer of The Departed and The
Ring , is set to executive produce. Last year,
Morgan Creek and Lee shopped an Exorcist
limited series project with a different writer, Sean
Durkin. I hear Slater’s is a brand new take on the
material.

FX seems like a good choice, they could air it with AHS or in its slot during the rest of the year. The more horror shows on TV the better.
ReplyDeleteThis is assuming it's a well written horror show. As far as I'm concerned, given that I'm not a huge Ryan Murphy fan, oodles of sub-par horror shows does not constitute a good thing. And I can't be the only one who was grossly disappointed in Williamson's recent tv exploit... Somehow he managed to make me think twice about the enormous faith I once had in his writing talents, and he made Poe seem laughable... I can't say I have enormous hopes for this project paving the way to quality tv horror.
ReplyDeleteWho wants to bet NBC will make a BIG bid on this?
ReplyDeleteIt seems to exactly fit the brand they've been trying to establish the last couple of seasons.
