Teen Wolf - Season 3 - Jeff Davis interview

20 Aug 2013

ETonline: The episode ended with Peter declaring his Alpha status. Has he been one all along?

Jeff Davis
: Actually, it's in his own mind. What he's doing is claiming his rightful place at the throne. He's declaring his intent to get that power back, so he's kind of a master manipulator -- the Iago to Derek's Othello, which is how we plotted this whole season. We wanted to take Derek to a dark place, keep hammering him down, so Peter could rise up on his back and you'd see his machinations come to play. It's fun to play that drama, and to play that Machiavellian maneuvering. Peter is mostly intent on gaining his pride and status back.

ETonline: So will Peter be the winter season's big bad?

Davis
: I wouldn't call him the big bad, but he is certainly an antagonist.

  1. This all sounds really good. I'm looking forward to more Lydia and Peter. I'm glad they didn't just drop that story. No mention of Stiles ever getting a date, though. I wish January wasn't so far away.

  2. Wonder what will happen with Cora now that the actress is on Reign

  3. Nice to hear that they're going to focus more on Lydia and the Banshee stuff in the next half of the Season.

  4. I just realized it was the same girl! I don't think Cora will come back for January (maybe a short scene). Maybe after Reign is done filming for the year she can film Teen Wolf who knows.

  5. I still think Peter really cares about his family and isn't at all dismissive of Derek and Cora (frankly I think one could interpret sending them away in the finale to mean he just wanted them out of the way so they wouldn't be a distraction to his plan). And I do think there are things he does feel guilty about and regrets.
But yeah I also totally 100% believe that those are things, people and feelings he will out aside in a heartbeat if it means getting what he believes is rightfully his.... which is being a leader....
And I'm also glad to hear he's not the big bad, just an antagonist. I really like him having his own agenda but working with the group and being looked upon wearily....

YAY for more Lydia. Quite looking forward to see how that plays out. It's about time she really got in the thick of it!

I'm still not sure letting both Aiden and Ethan live was a good idea.... I thinking killing one of them (preferably Aiden) would have been a good and bold move. And it would open up some good story lines. For one because of their connection Ethan could still be haunted by Aiden and maybe that would be something that Lydia and her banshee powers could help him deal with (it would also be a good way to keep both Max and Charlie around).... and I think the loss would also kinda hit Ethan hard enough that it could affect his relationship with Danny which would offer up some good drama on that front too... (nah.... I haven't thought too much about this... ;P)

Allison and Isaac is still a no no no no to me.... nothing Ive heard about this has even remotely made me change my mind.

I honestly want to see Scott not handling that great being an Alpha... and I thinking bringing teenage insecurities into that is a good way to go about it but I also think there needs to be more to it than just that. I think, going by the show's history one could say getting the red eyes messes with your head a little. And it's actually been that way every time anyone gains more power on the show. So I would like to see Scott not be an exception here.

I wonder how far detached from the main story Derek's story will be? And how or if it will tie into the main story at all....?

I know JD has said they won't be doing a MotW format in 3b (even though this is a prime excuse for them to do so...), but the way he answered that question makes me think they will have a couple of those, and they'll just tie them in the main story. Honestly I think that's a very good approach!

Lastly YAY for a not too big a time jump!

  6. One of the reasons I'm kinda upset Cora might not be back is because I felt they were hinting on some Stiles/Cora action in the future.... and I was liking that dynamic quite a bit so I am bummed....
