Sounded like Peter told Derek he will no longer be an Alpha if he tries to save Cora. I'm thinking, Derek is thinking of transferring his power to her? Please NOOOOO. I can't stand Cora as it is. Do we really need her as an alpha? Really? NOOOOOOO. And all we need is another watered down alpha. We already have a weak Peter. I don't want to see a weak Derek, even though he can't fight as it is.
Considering the show continues to treat the female part of the cast like crap(yay! Miss Morelli shot with an arrow....said no one ever), it would at least make the show redeem itself from all the sexism if they managed to save Cora or made her an alpha(which is seemingly the hinted way at healing her in the promo)
So I agree with your statement 100% "A dude obsessively stalking a female for YEARS is in no way attractive", but I don't think that Stiles has been stalking Lydia. It is a crush - he sees her because they are friends, they hang out in the same crowd, they have always been in class together. Stiles seems like he just going about his business, not changing his business so he constantly runs into and follows Lydia.
Again, I don't agree that girls are trophies to be won over, but I don't see that as coming into play in this circumstance.
I don't think that Cora will die in the next episode (maybe at the end of the season). No proof, just they are taking on 4 alphas - logically they need more bodies to fight them, not less and still be realistic.
So, Jennifer said she gets her power from her sacrifices. Then logically, she should choose the most powerful embodiment of healers, warriors, protectors etc right? Are Allison, Stiles and Scott's parents the most powerful versions of guardians? Or now it is personal because it seems a little too convenient that it is those three's parents?
I could see a case, where she is going after the strongest guardians. The sheriff is both a parent and guards the people of his town. Argent guards people against supernatural and is a parent. All three are single parents - which is a lot harder to raise a kid on your own than with help. All three have kids with special circumstances. In the last episode, it seemed that Jennifer really didn't want to lose Derek. She came to him; she was going to heal Cora; she didn't kill him when she escaped. But it is also hard.
But on the flip side -- both Momma McCall and Sheriff were just there. It seems like she is actually hunting Chris - although that could be because he has figured a lot of her plan out -- more so than any other character that we are aware of. He also got really close to killing her when she was trying make a sacrifice, so killing him could just be assurance. But killing those three won't win her any brownie points -- even if she uses them to take out Duke. In matter of fact, it has "united" Scott with Duke -- which could potentially lead to Duke, Derek and Scott all fighting against her. (Don't see this happening, but it now has more basis than before.)
Seems like a fitting milestone in Derek's arc, since the beginning of the series, for Derek to sacrifice something so important to him for someone else.
I have to mention a counter point here. Stiles has NOT been *stalking* Lydia. He has had a *crush* on her. Something boys and girls do throughout their childhood. What has he done with Lydia since the series began? Exhibited that he sees her for who she really is - something her a**hole of a boyfriend never did - by noticing how smart she is. When she has been upset he was the only person who stopped, noticed how she was feeling and offered to listen to her. He's basically treated her with respect. He's not leaving creepy gifts, following her every where she goes, interfering with her relationships.
In your comments about the show's sexism, it sometimes appears that you discount the fact that while they have female characters that are victims, they also have a large percentage of female characters that are empowered. Kate, who though a villain, was not a victim, Allison and Cora who march into battle with the male characters and hold their own equally with the guy, and Melissa who doesn't sit in a corner and scream and wait for a male character to come to her rescue. This seems more balanced than discriminatory.
Please, STOP. I'm beggin you. If you are trying hard enough you can make sexism of everything. But WHY? It'll help you? It'll change anything? No, it wouldnt. So, please, stop.
Yeah, I would have agreed, but so far she has shown no interest in him and in previous season he outright stated to Scott that he will "keep trying". That is very gross implication to make for a fictional work.
I don't need to make "Sexism of everything". The world if full of that stuff and every member of society who is not rotten is obliged to point it out and say "hey, Jeff Davis, what are you doing? You had such a good and empowering show till now".
But who poisoned Cora in the first place, was it Jennifer? I was probably the only one, but for one moment I thought Derek let Jennifer. And it looks like he will be preoccupied with Cora next episode. So basically staying out of it. Or maybe that's how promos look.
I think you're more or less right about the most powerful guardians thing. Although I disagree that Jennifer/ Julia REALLY cares for Derek. I think she put on that act to try and manipulate him. I mean she had no problem lying and pretending when she was saying "don't believe Scott and Stiles! They are lying" and such.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteLydia: What!? you kissed Cora! I thought you loved me since kindergarten you give up that easily!
ReplyDelete"kisses Stiles"
Lydia: Think about that. Then "walks away".
Stiles: yay!
Guess what? A dude obsessively stalking a female for YEARS is in no way attractive and the way he treated her is downright creepy.
ReplyDeleteAnyone know the filming schedules of Teen Wolf and Reign? Trying to decide if that show means that Cora will die or not.
ReplyDeleteFunny that you say that...
ReplyDeleteSo I agree with your statement 100% "A dude obsessively stalking a female for YEARS is in no way attractive", but I don't think that Stiles has been stalking Lydia. ReplyDeleteI don't think next ep, but I do wonder by the end of the season. Leave Derek totally broken and alone. AGAIN.
ReplyDeleteBoth shows are filming right now

ReplyDeleteyeah but manipulate Derek for what? it doesn't seem that she has any actual use for him...not so far at least...
