  1. I love flashbacks and time travel.

  2. This is the episode with Charlie I believe.

My guess is Dean and Charlie go back in time at some point.

  3. Ooh, Carver was talking about this one! I am excited for it.

  4. I think they said this would be the ep flashing back to the beginnings of the MOL and we would see the first 2 hunters involved with them.

    ReplyDelete
  5. The beginnings of the MOL in 1930's? Didn't they say the bunkers had things collected from the last thousand years? Doesn't seem logical to collect all that in like 25 years. And Henry's grandfather was one of them. Unless his grandfather was one of the first ones and started when he was old. Unless there's older flashbacks in that

  6. I want to know if Slumber Party is a play on words or their will actually be one. lol

  7. Dean in another time travel episode? What's new??

I wonder this flashback is about relatives in the old days and what the purpose of this?. Does sound very interesting.

  9. I don't know how they'd travel back in time unless they find a new method; Cas is powerless and lots of the angels will be pissed at Cas and likely the Winchesters. My guess is Charlie falls asleep while reading the case files (Slumber Party) and dreams about the MoL's first case.

  10. Lol,I was just reading this and it changed like magic. :)

  11. Logic would dictate that it's just a random moment in the Mol 's history as the society was still going strong when Henry was around, and as you say they told us the members had been collecting supernatural memorabilia for centuries.
    X

The writers probably chose the thirties so they can re-use the props from the Elliot Ness episode.

A logical choice as they re-boot everything else anyway, with highly inferior results compared to the original.

  12. It says flashback here, not time travel fellows ´-´

  13. We are supposed to learn why Sam views the MOL Bunker only has a work place and not a home like Dean in this one according to Jeremy so maybe there is more to this episode than meets the eye. As a Sam fan I take Sam +pov+ exploration on this show with a pinch of salt from the showrunners but who knows.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Maybe they can braid Sam's hair! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  15. I hope that your wish to get more on sam's POV and feelings come to pass but I don't htink these writers have it in them to do justice to Sam or to Dean for that matter.

Even the big secret that is being kept from Sam by Dean will probably turn out to be something much less than what we expect.
I love Sam and all his complexities, but I have zero confidence in these writers after the mess of season eight.

    ReplyDelete
  16. The secret will be written so that we will see how awful it has been for Dean and how ungrateful Sam is for being upset when he learns about whatever it is. That is the usual trope with Sam from fandom and show.

    ReplyDelete
  17. The brothers will get bashed for each "side" regardless.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Why are people saying it'll be "time travel" instead of "flashbacks"? Did I miss something?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Maybe but then there is Sam hating and then there is Dean bashing and they are two different things . And as far apart has they can be .

    ReplyDelete
  20. Sorry, but I can't agree that there is no Dean hate. I see plenty of Dean hating, too. I won't argue that there is more Sam hate than Dean's, though I happen to think that two wrongs don't make one right.

I just wish the writers and Carver would just stop it, you know... I hate this fandom fighting and bashing either brother, but I think TPTB really like these wars because it's something fans will focus on instead of notice the lol!canon and bad storylines they're presenting.

    ReplyDelete
  21. It's true, but Sam always gets it worse. It is like for some fans, Dean always gets a pass no matter what he does (see 8x09). On the other hand, Sam is damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. And the sad thing is that the writing helps with that. Sam is the one who is wrong almost all the time. It gets to the point that in some episodes that begins with Sam saying A and Dean B, you know it will end up being B, killing the tension of the episode (the one with Krissy in season 8).

Besides there is the whole bad judge of the character thing. Sam has a monster friend - turns up it is manipulating him or has to be killed, and Sam better to agree with Dean or he is being a bitc* (Mentalist episode).

Dean has a monster friend - it's the most benevolent vampire ever, pratically Jesus with fangs. The fact he killed hundreds of people before purgatory is no big for Dean, so the audience can trust him, because Dean does and of course the elder Winchester is right.

My point is the extremely biased writing helps to raise the bashness. Just give a mytharc to Dean and a lot of character exploration to Sam, with plenty of his POV and maybe the situation will get better.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I don't disagree that Sam gets more hate than Dean, I'm just saying that Dean gets hated on as well.

I don't agree with a huge part of your post, but I'll leave it at that because I just don't have energy for that. I'm tired of endless arguing. It's not worth it. That's exactly what I was saying, I hate how the writers 'make' fans fight with each other. It turns me off of discussion more than anything else, tbh.

    ReplyDelete
  23. It isn't the beginning of the Men of Letters. It is the first two Men of Letters to use that particular bunker.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I agree.

I can't understand why anyone should hate either brother especially when they love one another and would do anything to keep each other safe.
I understand that one miight lean more towards one than the other, be that for their looks, or their characters or whatever, but liking one doesn't mean that you have to automatically dislike the other.
They are a team; both wonderful, each with their individual flaws and strengths.
    X
I also agree that the writers seem to like firing up the brother tension, so giving certain people more ammunition to target one brother or the other.

Another reason for me to consider these writers incompetent.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I think exactly the same! :D

    ReplyDelete
  26. The TARDIS. This is the crossover with Doctor Who. Capaldi!Doctor's first appearance.

    ReplyDelete
  27. LOL, interesting idea but the only "red haired woman" that should be Dr. Who's companion is Amy Pond - may she and Rory RIP :-( .

    ReplyDelete
  28. Time to go to 13 episodes. Seems to work for Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, Mad Men, Sons of Anarchy, etc. These writers cannot put out volume.

    ReplyDelete
  29. The writing problems that Supernatural is having won't be resolved with less episodes and yes with better writing.

    ReplyDelete
  30. "A logical choice as they re-boot everything else anyway, with highly inferior results compared to the original." - HAHAHAAHA!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yes, that would be a good move b/c I highly doubt we'll get any info on why Sam feels the way he does. We may get a few throwaway lines but no deep exploration.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I've never understood those fans who actively HATE one of the brothers. For many years, this was a TWO-lead show. How do you watch a show where you HATE - not just dislike but HATE, LOATHE, DESPISE - one of the leads?!?!?
I couldn't do it. Thankfully, I was not online for the first three years of this show and never started to hate either brother. I think that's why even though I was displeased and upset w/Sam in S4, I never started to hate him. Dean's depression in S5 and general bad attitude bugged me, but I never started hating him.
These brothers ARE the show, IMO. You can't have one w/o the other, and I genuinely love them both. I don't favor either one over the other.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Agreed! Cable shows have the right idea w/the short (13-episode) season. To me, it leads to less filler (i.e., Bitten, Cartoon World, Teen hunters) and more substantive episodes.
And most importantly, as you pointed out, these writers seem to have lost all interest in the main characters - Sam and Dean - as well as the show, in general, IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Like you I came very late to the show. I bought the first five seasons on dvd and watched straight through, enjoying it immensely.
I really only started reading about the show on internet at the beginning of season seven.
    X

I have always loved both boys from the first moment and i really can't understand how one could hate either of these brothers.
    X

As for the secondary characters, they never gave me any problems before because effectively they were there to enhance the Winchesters' story, and in themselves were well-rounded and sympathetic, like Bobby, Ellen. Mary, etc.
When something bad happened to them, one felt their pain, but from the ones Carver is now throwing at us I couldn't care less what happens to them.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Just to be clear - I've watched since the Pilot aired in 2005, and I was immediately hooked. LOL! I didn't start participating in the "online fandom" until S4, which was an awful season to join. That's how I learned about Dean girls and Sam girls, Dawn O., the dislike for certain episodes like Bugs & Route 666, the Jared v. Jensen fights, etc.

It was all foreign to me. At that time, the only character I had ever disliked was Bela and GP's version of Ruby. I can't even say I disliked any episodes at that time. I love Route 666 and Bugs despite the "quick" night. I just loved the show. Like you, I never hated either brother and still don't. Neither brother is dislikeable to me. I really don't understand how one could hate Sam or Dean, but that's just me.

I love your last paragraph and couldn't agree more w/your every word. I think this new concept of giving secondary characters huge arcs and lots of airtime was previewed w/Castiel in S6. In TTM, there was a significant chunk of the episode (or at least that's how I felt when I first watched it) where Sam and Dean were not in it. At that time, I remember being slightly bored and wondering where Sam and Dean went. And I say that as someone who does not dislike Castiel or Balthazar. I just thought it was strange that they disappeared. I didn't dislike TMWWBK and thought Sam should have gotten an episode like that in S4 (IKWYDLS does not compare).

But I feel S8 really adopted the whole secondary character arc w/Castiel, and for me, it was a failure. I will always view this show as the Sam/Dean show. Giving Cas his own story that has absolutely NOTHING to do w/the Winchesters was a huge fail for me. Each time there was a Castiel scene, I felt pulled OUT of the action. At least in S6, we weren't shown Cas fighting his Heaven war or whatever he was doing. I like Castiel. I really do, but I do not watch for him. If he's there, cool. If he's not, that's fine too. I can take or leave him.

I just don't know how this "huge secondary character arcs" are going to work FOR ME. Heck, I liked Benny and was still a little bored w/his FB episode. I cannot speak for anyone else, but I think I will be upset if time is taken away from the Winchesters and devoted to other characters I might not care about at all. I guess I'll see how it all plays out. I'm not excited though.

  36. While I agree this probably won't be a legit time travel episode, it isn't technically impossible. They could always use the same spell that Henry did, if they needed to.

    ReplyDelete
  37. It's supposed o be the first people who lived in the bunker, not necesarily the first members of the Men of Letters.

    ReplyDelete
  38. *IF* there is any time travel, not just flashbacks, that was exactly what I was thinking, too.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Do you even watch the episodes? Or do you come up with inane thought just to tear the show down? Because I do not believe you or I are watching the same show. Undoubtedly there is some "Dean Girl" just waiting to dispute your opinion. The same thing is said about both brothers. It is too bad the fandom is so divided over the brothers that they are beginning to repeat what each side says about the other and vice versa.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I do not agree. S8 was not that bad. Although my thoughts are that if dean is hiding something it might have to do with Angels. How fitting it would be to have Sam be transformed into an Angel after being infected with demon blood. It would bring him full circle. The ONLY reason ANY FANS have ANY problem with the show is that the show went on several more seasons than what it should have. It should have stopped with S5 and Sam's sacrifice to save the world by locking him & Lucifer in the cage.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I do not believe it ever mentioned that Benny killed "hundreds" of people before being killed himself. As evidenced by his line about not killing humans but drinking blood from blood bags.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I disagree Isle, not really with any point you made other than the writers being incompetent. I believe the problem lies with the fandom itself. Similar to Trekkers, Trekkies, and the endless arguments people like to engage in to prove their point is right and everyone else is wrong. The vitriol that people spend on each other could be better used towards not watching the show if people are that unhappy with it. Not criticizing you, just agreeing in an offhanded way :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Hi!

Yeah, there are many ways of looking at things and everyone has their own take on --well,.....just about everything!

We all have different ideas on what we like and don't like; it's normal and while it's kept within certain parameters, there's nothing wrong with expressing our opinioms. It's just human nature.
    X
I would love to be as positive about season eight and the upcoming season nine as I am about the earlier ones, however S8 really bugs me because IMO there is just so much wrong with it, and I feel let down by the show as a whole.

    X
It's true what you say, if one doesn't like the show any more, one doesn't have to watch ( or comment ), but that's what annoys me so much about it all, because I feel the SPN is capable of so much more than the OOC, badly re-booted story-lines and canon-trashing we got in season eight.

You say you liked it and that's fine. As I said everything is subjective.
At least we can agree on the writers being incompetent :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Well, angels are the theme of season nine, but i don't think the writers will go as far as making Sam something angelic, although it certainly would be a paradox after making him an 'evil abomination' for practically the entire series.
We'll just have to wait and see.

    x
I don't agree with you about the show ending in season five however, as I love season six.
I thought it was well thought out ,and looking back on it now, there were many clues spread throughout it; and red herrings too, like Crowley's false burnt bones and the Eve story line which was there in part to cover the Castiel/ Crowley conspiracy.
Then there were many stand-alone episodes that I loved, not to speak of Soulless Sam who was great!

    X

I thought that Sera had found an interesting role for Castiel.

Her idea of making him the big bad was good. If she had kept on down that path and made him the evil leader of the Leviathans, instead of Roman, she would have made everything much more personal to Sam and Dean.
She pulled back, and so we got Castiel relegated to being the comedy relief which by all accounts will continue in season nine, and which honestly is just no longer funny on any level.
