Quick Report from Fan Expo Toronto

Fan Expo is going on all weekend in Toronto. It’s not SDCC by any means, but it’s still a busy, crowded, cos-playing extravaganza where you can see stormtroopers, browncoats, and superheroes all rubbing elbows. This is a brief report from my very long day... I’ll follow up with more detailed comments in a day or two.

The day started with a possible disappointment as Arrow star Stephen Amell was delayed due to illness. In keeping with his very fan-supportive persona, however, he managed to make it to photo ops by 2pm and then sign autographs for several hours afterwards. He looked tired and not 100% - but only if you looked closely. He was enthusiastic with a quick smile and a kind word for everyone who dropped by for a photo op or autograph. AND he gave me a spoiler... when season 2 picks up it will be five months later. It will also be five months later on the Island, and of the three people on the Island, we will not have seen two of them there before...

I also managed to get to the Defiance panel today. Grant Bowler, Julie Benz, Jaimie Murray, Stephanie Leonidas, Graham Greene and Dewshane Williams took to the stage and Jesse Rath was lurking in the audience. The major spoilers are that the second season will be much darker and will turn a lot of season one on its head. I was disappointed that Tony Curran did not attend, and it was mentioned that Datak won’t be around Defiance much. Irisa will be back and more badass than ever – Leonidas was sporting a huge bruise that she was immensely proud of! Nolan search for Irisa finds him far from Defiance ... in Los Angeles! Amanda will have largely crawled into a bottle of Scotch and Rafe will be pissed about having been shot.
