another just "ok" ep for me... pretty predictable - you knew that big Jim wasn't going to roll over from this treachery, and of course Junior was going to kill those guys... nice to see Angie FINALLY make over to her own house (didn't make any sense why she stayed overnight at the Rennie's, wouldn't be much of a long conversation) and finally let her brother know that she's alive.. also not sure why Joe decided to not take shelter from the MOAB missile and spend his "last minutes" looking for his sister, and then go on afterwards seemingly not even thinking about her, even though the civil unrest was well known....wtf... I know if was meant to get to the storypoint quickly, but Joe "figuring out" that the dome had to have nucleus was somewhat unbelievable to me... he seems bright, but to come up with that theory felt like a stretch..... still, the show is entertaining enough to keep me in the fold
Definitely an improvement from last week. - At last, the McAlister siblings are reunited. - Joe comparing the dome to a molecule seemed a little ouf of the blue. The fact that the dome is a circle should have been enough to check out the center. I don't know what it says about the adult characters when the only ones trying to find out what the dome is and how it works are two star-crossed teenagers. - I thought Evil JIm would put his van in reverse and just drive Boomer over but I guess he had to make it look like an accident. Boomer went out with a boom. (i just had to...) - So it seems like Ollie is taking over. In situations like these, connections are what really matters and Ollie seems to have more of them than Evil JIm. I really wonder how this civil awr will pan out. - Linda is such a bad cop. When you are arresting someone and your partner is not with you to back you up in case something goes wrong, you tell them to lay on the ground, so they can't pull off shit like that. - Alice's death was incredibly sad. Norrie pleading the dome to bring her back, just heartbreaking.
I thought this episode was very bad. Yeah it had its heart felt moments but nothing happened beyond the egg and a baby and the death of a character I felt nothing for. And to the former pregnant lady, thank you for ruining what could have been great morning sex. next bump get your yogurt from someone else.
This show keeps getting stronger and stronger every week. Loved the episode. Joe and Norrie's relationship is brilliant. Hopefully I'm not the only one that sees the irony in Barbie/Julia being 'I killed your husband and now we're sleeping together'. Alice's death was sad even though I could see it coming. And what the hell is that egg thing?!
My only annoyance? Harriet decided that her water would break JUST as I was eating the last of my breakfast. Cheers Under the Dome.
I agree with everything, except for two things: I like that it's Joe and Norrie figuring out the dome, it feels like they were meant to do so beucase of their connection to it, I didn't think his epiphany was stretched at all, and also, in my opinion, Linda isn't a bad cop, the writers don't know how to make a good one haha at least I think she's supposed to be good.
Gave the episode an "awesome" just for the last 5 minutes. Alice's death scene was incredibly heartbreaking and made me cry after the episode was done. The girl that plays Norrie gave an excellent performance in this episode. Norrie is my favorite character so the writers better not mess her up. Also, I wonder what that "egg" has to do with the dome. Next week should be very interesting.
But but but...people don't die like that. "Norrie, I love you. Be brave." Donk. Eyes close. Dead. Regardless, I loved the episode. Joe and Angie, finally. Junior apologizes to Angie. Didn't expect that. Pink stars falling lines for real. Interesting.
Now that you mention it, the first image shown on the pilot episode is that of an egg, and then comes the dome down, so I guess that image was perhaps a signal of the black egg which would then begin the whole thing.
I also went back to see the beginning and realized that the bird seems to sense something weird, and the nest is very close to Peter's burial site. So perhaps the mini-dome is in that same area, and when people begin to dig around it they find the corpse!!
Or maybe (I know this is a stretch) Peter did have something on him that when buried did give rise to the black egg, the mini-dome and the big dome. Because we have to think about how it got put in there, you know, and precisely on that day.
It's not unbelievable to figure out that the dome has to had a generator, and it'll be probably inside the dome, so if it's supposed to keep the dome inside the city's limits it's very plausible that they would have to start looking for something in the center of it. Maybe the example as a nucleus of an atom was too cheesy and Maybe a mini-dome wasn't the most original idea, but it works on screen way better than what the book proposes...
The ending kept me on the edge of my sofa. I really wanted to know what was going to happen to that egg. And Norrie grieving was good. Nice cliffhanger..
In the book it is really the kid that do all the hard work of uncovering most of the dome's mysteries, so I'm ok with that. And about the dome being circular, I'm not convinced about it, Jo-e said that he and Ben had mapped the dome, but they never showed if the dome was all circular or it was around the exact perimeter of the city's limits. It would make more sense if it was around the city limit. And yeah Alice's death was heartbreaking, a lot. I didn't expected that...
I liked last week's better but it was ok. I did have some problems though. I can't for instance care about Big Jim's storyline, they should work on the character's motivations a bit more first. Also, the pregnancy storyline did nothing for me, I didn't quite get the point of it. Maybe I was too "Lostie" in it, but I thought there would be something creepy to it or whatever. However, the siblings reunion, Barbie-Julia and the death of Alice were very well done. Also, I love Joe and Norie.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteAnd the outside of the dome looked as if a nuclear bomb hadn't blown everything just the day before.
ReplyDeleteThe bomb blew up on only one side so the other sides would have been ok
ReplyDeleteBetter than last week.... way way better than last week.
ReplyDeleteAn amazing episode. I loved the first scenes with Joe/Norrie and Barbie/Julia. The last scene was incredibly sad. I love this show so much!
ReplyDeletefinally Angie and Jo reunited lol Great ep, sand ending. Alice was a great character.
ReplyDeleteI didn't need to read the rest to like this. It was WAY better than last week.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely an improvement from last week.

ReplyDeleteAnd.........BARBULIA

ReplyDeleteOooh, I just went back and watched the first scene and you're right! That had to have been a hint about the dome or the egg.
ReplyDeleteI also went back to see the beginning and realized that the bird seems to sense something weird, and the nest is very close to Peter's burial site. So perhaps the mini-dome is in that same area, and when people begin to dig around it they find the corpse!!

LOL and what do you think of JARBIE?
ReplyDeleteYeah, Jarbie sounds a lot better.
ReplyDeleteOkay. Jarbie it is :)

ReplyDeleteSo, anyone noticed that the egg had "pink stars falling in line"????
ReplyDeleteSomeone please tell me what its the name of the song in the final scene of the episode
ReplyDeleteThe song is called "M83 - Wait".
