I war really looking forward to this episode, but I have to say I'm really disappointed... I expected more. No Nick and Andy dance, no wedding party, nothing.
Probably the worst so far for holding my interest in character storylines, with the exception of Oliver. I can't figure out how RB writers pick their "couples". It clearly has nothing to do with chemistry between the two actors.
1) Gail/Holly: Gail has way too much chemistry with Luke or Nick to sell me on her being a les. now. There's no spark between the two, there was no build up, they just decided in a single ep that this would be her love interest and now we're to believe they are good buds that go to weddings together. Forced.
2) Tracy/Peck (can't remember his name): Did the writers forget what a cold, snobby jerk they painted Peck to be the last time we saw him? Now they decide he's a love interest for Tracy and all of a sudden he's this cool, chatty guy. Do they even care what the history of their characters are? Aside from that, they do not look suited to each other. Very odd match. Forced. I would have much preferred the bomb squad guy from last season. (He was hot!) But also because they have WAY TOO many co-worker relationships going right now. (S/M, A/N, Dov/Chloe, Frank/Noelle, Tracy/Peck….those are just the current ones!!)
3) Dov/Chloe: I'm kinda on the fence about this one. I find her a little annoying but she is unique in a way so I'll give her a pass for now.
4) Andy/Nick: Watching these two make out would be like watching your cousins make out. Gross. They don't have the sexual tension that there is between Sam and Andy. S/A just have to be in the same scene and it's there. VERY FORCED.
5) Sam/Marlo: Gag! Why is it I know more about Marlo's life than I do about Dov, Gail, Oliver, etc….?! I don't CARE!!! The whole love square and the distance the writers are putting between S/A is so overused on TV, it's disappointing because I originally thought the RB writers were more creative than that. All this soapy drama, they pass it off as trying to be realistic, but it's so heavily contrived it's far from realistic.
6) Noelle/Frank: Not a real believable reason to run out on a wedding, but they are a nice couple I guess. (Not that we saw any of it. Just boom! she's preggers after what a date or two? Whatever.)
7) Oliver/Celery: Oliver was the saving grace for this ep and the exception to my disinterest in storylines. I love the fact they brought in a character from outside of the division! Considering how Oliver dismissed the physic from last season I'd say he's a changed man to be open to Celery and not immediately dismiss her for being a witch. They look nice together and it's nice to see Oliver happy.
I love RB for the characters but the writers suck sometimes. Making Gail bisexual all of a sudden is cheap and unearned. Gail had sparks with Sam and Luke - she should have hooked up with one of them as it would have caused even more drama. I don't mind having gay/bisexual characters on the show but doing it this way is weak.
This episode was ok, at best! I usually am not a hard critic but this episode seemed so forced! I totally agree with Darik, the relationships don't have any chemistry. Gail a lesbian? Really?
The writers need to rethink their game an and stop trying to make every couple they imagine possible, it's really hard to root for anyone right now!
i agree with everything except the Tracey/Peck, mainly becaus i dont remember much about him in the previous seasons. but judging from this season alone, i find him very cute. i'm glad i'm not the only one who feels uncomfortable watching andy and nick. i always get tingly when sam and andy interact. i loved when she said she'll save a dance for him. lol. at least oliver wont giv up on them
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
No McSwarek dance, are you kidding me!

ReplyDeleteI really liked this episode. Just thought the wedding part was too short.

ReplyDeleteI agree, I felt let down by the Nick and Andy moments near the end of the show though I did really enjoy Andy playing Nick's song in the car...awwww.

So over McSwarek, on board with McCollins, they're so cute :)
