Jinkies...the opening crime scene sequence was...Jinkies. Was a little disappointed that my question for the season (what's gonna happen with the guy after Rusty) wasn't answered until the last two minutes. But it was an interesting episode.
Obviously the letter writer knows that Rusty is staying with Sharon. wonder if that was information that the writer had before or if it was leaked somehow.
Interesting case and point of view aspect of this episode! It felt like a larger part of the episode was spent from the killer's perspective than from the Major Crimes unit, than in some of the other cases. It made for an interesting episode though.
Finally, the Rusty letters are revealed to the team! But what an anticlimactic finale! It was just a tease, with no real advancement in the "Rusty as witness in Stroh murder trial" story, but instead a detractor to prolong the case and Rusty's time with Sharon. They certainly are taking their time with the Rusty story. I don't see how it would be a bad thing to just conclude the Stroh trial (please just put the guy behind bars or kill Stroh), and write stories with Sharon as Rusty's foster mother. There's plenty of story with raising a troubled teenager like Rusty, as was seen with his relationship with that girl.
I have watched this episode over and over already and I seldom do that with a crime show. However, I do admit that I tend to fast forward to the Rusty scenes.
I am really surprised how much Major Crimes has sucked me in. I loved Closer and Brenda was the primary reason; although I love every member of the team as well. Besides Provenza and Flynn, Gabriel was my favorite team member, so his loss was also tough. Raydor's new deal strategy was also an issue because it felt like a let down compared to the dramatic confessions that Brenda could achieve, but I understand it would have been impossible to replace her exceptional talent. However, once Raydor and Rusty started to bond my issues with everything else just disappeared.
This is still the same team that I love and I am really surprised that many of the things that annoyed me in the beginning (Sharon, the deals, and Rusty) are now some of my favorite aspects of the show.
Rusty seemed so demanding in the beginning. Compared to his previous situation, practically any foster home should be a step up. But, now his struggles are tugging at my heart like he is my own son. I am really loving this show. I always looked forward to the next season of Closer, but I am counting the days already until the next episode of Major Crimes.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Finally some interesting stuff on Rusty and the letters..........now after Sharon so the stakes are more scary........
